Meanwhile, Chantelle was already on her way back to the city in Daniel's car.
She quickly told Calvin to pull back and she sat in the cold, tense atmosphere inside the car.
Since Daniel had led her out through the secret passage, he hadn't said a word.
Even though he was still holding her hand tightly, Chantelle could feel he was upset.
The awkward silence made her uncomfortable.
"Daniel, why were you at the castle?" she finally asked.
"To find you," he answered.
"Erm, I just thought the castle looked interesting, so I went there to check it," Chantelle said, trying to lighten the mood.
"You think I'll believe that?" Daniel asked coldly.
"Well, I actually suspected Joseph had something to do with Grandpa's death. So I went to check it out. But it looks like Joseph found out about my plan early. My effort was wasted."
The castle was empty, and Kate was full of lies trying to protect Joseph.
It was clear the whole thing was set up to trap her.
