Rowan had already told him everything about Chantelle and Daniel's past. In his mind, Daniel had abandoned Chantelle for another woman and had nearly gotten her killed. A man like him wasn't worthy of being forgiven.
The Nelsen family's princess could have anyone she wanted, so why return to him? And to make it worse, this same man was supposed to be engaged to his other granddaughter.

Daniel could clearly see the hatred in Old Mr. Nelsen's eyes. He quickly explained before Chantelle could say anything. "The one who got engaged to Camille today was my cousin, Joseph Wilson. I've only ever had one wife, and that is Chantelle."
"That is not the agreement I made with Wesley Wilson back then," Old Mr. Nelsen said sharply.
"Back then, you and my grandfather agreed that your granddaughter would be engaged to the heir of the Wilson Group. Joseph is one of the heirs now, so the agreement still stands," Daniel replied.
