Daniel was caught up in the fact that his wife had been worried about him. She didn't notice what he had really intended to do, or maybe she did, and her instincts pushed her to save him anyway.
The more he thought about it, the happier he became. When he noticed she had suddenly stopped, he trembled. He pulled her into his arms protectively and asked nervously, "What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
She was giving him a real scare. They were still out in the open area, and the enemy was hiding somewhere. He had no way of knowing when they would attack.
When he looked in the same direction, he froze in surprise.
"Are you okay, Daniel?" Victoria leaned out and reached for his hand. Daisy stood beside her, giving him excited looks.
Daniel didn't pull away from her touch, but his eyes held a complicated expression before he turned back to Chantelle.
Chantelle didn't even look at Victoria or Daisy. She and Daniel exchanged a simple glance.
