Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Lin Zheng

Shen Bingyan did not object to Shen Ling'er calling Lin Feng "brother-in-law" right now, even though the two families had never met before, but since it was a marriage arranged by their parents and matchmakers, it could not be opposed.

Seeing her younger sister so anxious about something, although Shen Bingyan was puzzled, she also looked down, but when her gaze fell upon the words written in the letter, she suddenly revealed a shocked expression.

"Little sister, is this really true?"

"Yes, absolutely true, I just found out and immediately came to tell you, sister. What should we do about this?" Shen Ling'er also said.

Shen Bingyan still hadn't snapped back to reality; the letter simply contained one short sentence.

Lin Feng, the young master of the Lin Family in Boyang City, has connected with a First Grade Star!

A First Grade Star?

Shen Bingyan herself had connected with a Seventh Grade Star. She couldn't possibly not know what a First Grade Star represented.

Immediately, her attitude towards Lin Feng underwent a dramatic change; she, who had been prepared to accept her fate, suddenly felt a strong unwillingness. No, she could not marry a failure with only a First Grade Star, for that would completely ruin her life.

"Find Father!"

...

After giving Lin Dao a lesson, it served as a warning to others, calming that group down quite a bit. There weren't many who pointed at Lin Feng and cursed him as trash anymore. As for those who gossiped behind his back, there were certainly some, but mouths belong on other people's faces - they could curse however they liked; it wasn't as if he lost a piece of flesh. In the future, he wouldn't belong in the same world as them anyway, so there was no reason to get angry and damage his liver over such people. It was totally not worth it.

Lin Feng was just so magnanimous. As an Emperor of a previous era, he had seen all kinds of major and minor grudges. The exclusion and mockery amongst his peers were nothing but child's play in his eyes, no different from kids squabbling. He didn't need to truly get angry over such matters.

To kill the chicken to warn the monkeys was sufficient, he needed to calmly focus on his cultivation, securing a spot in the Star Tower was the key.

After all, at that time, besides the Lin Family of Boyang City, there were two other very powerful families. Since he had never concerned himself with them before, he had no idea about the prodigies in the other families. He only knew that during the last event, besides Lin Zihua, Lin Panghu, and Lin Mo'er, the other seven disciples of their Lin Family were all eliminated, which showed the strength of the opposing families.

Lin Feng discarded his distractions and returned to his room to start cultivating immediately.

Before he knew it, a day had passed.

That day, the Family Head of the Lin Family, Lin Zheng, returned. In his forties, Lin Zheng had an imposing presence that reflected his status, and as the top martial artist of Boyang City, he indeed was the focus of the whole city. However, with the tiger as the father and the dog as the son, his child Lin Feng turned out to be only a First Grade Star, which left Lin Zheng, who had received the news on his way, utterly astonished. After giving a few brief instructions, he immediately rushed back home.

He was not concerned about these superficial honors; what he cared about was Lin Feng. Lin Feng was his second son, and his first son had run away from home five years ago because of his mother's death and had remained out of touch since. It was Lin Feng who had been by his side since childhood, and for his younger son, he had immense affection, fearing that he would not be able to figure things out and become sullen.

"Father, how did you come?"

Lin Feng was cultivating perfectly, ready to break through to the Eighth Layer in one go, when he suddenly saw Lin Zheng recklessly burst into the room, a look of urgency on his face.

Lin Zheng was startled for a moment to see Lin Feng sitting sleekly in a wooden barrel, apparently cultivating. He breathed a sigh of relief as if granted a huge reprieve and glanced around the room, "Feng'er, nothing unusual has happened recently, right?"

Lin Feng instantly knew what Lin Zheng meant, filled with mixed feelings. Although he had previously reached the peak, he and Lin Zheng had barely seen each other once in nearly ten years, resulting in a strained relationship. But now, facing this situation, his heart was a mix of emotions.

"The only significant event to speak of is that your son has communicated with the First Grade Star, which Father probably already knows," Lin Feng mentioned indifferently.

Lin Zheng sighed, "Of course I know. However, Feng'er, that's not the problem. You must keep an open heart. Think positively; even if you can't become a powerful Martial Artist in this lifetime, your old dad will protect you for a lifetime!"

Lin Zheng's last words were said with resolute conviction. In this world, the weak had no fairness to speak of. To put it bluntly, weakness was a sin.

Upon hearing this, Lin Feng showed a rare, sincere smile. "Don't worry, Father, I'm not that foolish. Moreover, well, let's just say my Star is somewhat special. In time, you'll see that my Star is definitely more than just First Grade."

Lin Feng didn't reveal all the abilities of the Demon Dragon Star because it was exceedingly rare. If word got out, it might not bode well for him or the Lin Family. As the saying goes, the bigger the tree, the more wind it draws; the outstanding will be the target of destruction.

Lin Zheng was both shocked and doubtful. He was astonished at how much more mature his son seemed all of a sudden, especially those eyes, which appeared to see right through someone. The doubt, of course, was whether Lin Feng's statement could be taken at face value.

However, he didn't say anything and after giving a few more instructions, closed the door and left.

Lin Feng listened as the footsteps faded away, then continued his cultivation. Strength was the only thing that gave one a voice.

Only after using up thirty stalks of Essence Blood Grass did Lin Feng step out of the room, having reached the Martial Apprentice Eighth Layer, a cultivation level that would likely keep him at the forefront of the Lin Family.

Essence Blood Grass was a common herb, but not many disciples could afford it. Except for those supported by their parents or those who performed exceptionally at the Star Ceremony and received special rewards from the clan, most ordinary disciples could probably only afford three or four stalks at most.

With his cultivation level raised, what remained was the Star. Lin Feng decided to head to Hu Ben Mountain Range to hunt Demon Beasts. His Demon Dragon Star could not only devour the Stars of opponents but also absorb the souls of Demon Beasts, both methods capable of elevating the Level of the Demon Dragon Star.

With this in mind, Lin Feng set off directly for the Hu Ben Mountain Range.

...

"Zihua bro, that guy is too arrogant. You didn't see it that day; that trash openly said in front of everyone, if anyone dares to strike him in the future, he won't consider familial ties."

Inside a wooden cabin, Lin Mo'er, her body white as jade, lay languidly like a sleepy kitten on a solid chest, with her face still flushed from recent excitement, and a distinctive scent lingering in the air.

Lin Zihua, with closed eyes, was savoring this new sensation for the first time, finding it unforgettable. Lin Mo'er, the woman who brought him endless pleasure and whom he had truly accepted for the first time, made him ponder after he heard her words, "Do you care a lot about him?"
