Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Maggots

"But, big brother Purple Scorpion, now that we've captured this woman, how would that kid named Lin Feng know?" The young man who had awakened the Hyena Star pondered with doubt.

"Idiot. What our Wolf Fang Corps doesn't lack is brothers. Go back and notify brothers from all teams, let them spread the word everywhere. Just say that Ma Han's team has been detained by our Purple Scorpion Team. Tell me, if that kid returns to the town, how could he possibly not know this news? When he unexpectedly learns about this, he will certainly head over," Purple Scorpion said with a cold smirk.

As soon as these words were spoken, many of his team members' eyes lit up, "Indeed worthy of Brother Scorpion, such a brilliant move."

Lin Feng, hiding behind the trees, listened and didn't expect himself to be betrayed just like that. He smiled faintly, not particularly angry, since he had seen too much of such situations. However, in his eyes, Wang Wei was already a dead man. As for Lu Keke and Ma Han, he was determined to rescue them. He planned to find an opportunity to make a move. Purple Scorpion wasn't a weakling, also being a martial master. Apart from him, the rest were Martial Apprentices of the Seventh or Eighth Layer, equipped with very lethal crossbow arrows.

Lin Feng quietly waited for the opportunity in the shadows. Wang Wei, considered a wise man for recognizing circumstances, was untied by Purple Scorpion. By noon, the group arrived beside a small stream to prepare grilled fish and roast wild chickens and rabbits. Throughout, like a little brother, Wang Wei was helping them with everything from catching rabbits to lighting fires, even standing guard. He had no complaints whatsoever, but instead, showed a face full of obsequious smiles.

"Wang Wei, I appreciate your kind of opportunist dog," Purple Scorpion laughed heartily as he threw a rabbit leg to Wang Wei, who immediately nodded and bowed, hastily expressing his thanks, "Uh, Brother Purple Scorpion, might I join your team in the future? Rest assured, I won't say much, but I've been learning archery since I was seven, and I'm quite accurate."

"That's right, Brother Purple Scorpion, just now this kid shot rabbits with one arrow each, specially precise," a minion laughed.

"Oh? If that's the case, then Wang Wei, from now on, follow me. You can be a hunting dog, catch some rabbits. What do you think of that?" Purple Scorpion said, gnawing on rabbit meat with a smile.

Wang Wei's expression changed slightly, but he immediately nodded and said, "Thank you for your great kindness, Brother Purple Scorpion."

"Tch, Wang Wei, others treat you like a dog, and yet you thank them," Lu Keke said sarcastically from the side, very dissatisfied with Wang Wei for selling out Lin Feng like that.

Purple Scorpion sneered and carrying a rabbit leg, walked over to Lu Keke. At this moment, Lu Keke, Ma Han, and the others were tied up tight, as Purple Scorpion eyed Lu Keke's exquisite and petite figure, continuously making taunting sounds as if admiring a most beautiful work of art.

"Is the tent set up?"

"Yes, Brother Purple Scorpion."

A few minions ran over nodding.

Hearing this, without another word, Purple Scorpion carried Lu Keke towards the tent. Lu Keke's face turned pale with fright as she struggled incessantly, but before she could move much, Purple Scorpion knocked her out with a palm strike to the back of her neck.

"Purple Scorpion, let her go, if you have any grudges, take it out on me!" Ma Han growled lowly.

"Take it out on you? Can you help me solve my physical needs?" Purple Scorpion sneered.

"Uh, Captain, nowadays, it's said that many big masters like to pick up soap. Man and man, it's not impossible," said a sly-looking man.

Purple Scorpion was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, "That's true, but compared to hairy-legged rough men, this guy prefers delicate and tender women, especially the ones with small figures. Alright, you few, be clever for me. Maybe later there'll be some soup for you too."

Speaking, Purple Scorpion carried Lu Keke into the tent, while a few minions stood back with envy, rubbing their hands and keeping watch.

Ma Han heaved a deep sigh. With Lu Keke falling into Purple Scorpion's hands, her life was ruined. Such a good girl, thinking of this, he glared fiercely at Wang Wei, who was pouring drinks for others. Beast, he couldn't believe that Wang Wei was such a heartless animal. He would sell his teammate at the drop of a hat and even enjoy being someone else's dog.

"Everyone, stay put and don't even think about running away. I'll have you know that the Deputy Commander's brother has died, and this is no small matter. If that guy doesn't show up, then you few will take the blame."

The young man who had awakened the Hound Star tossed Ma Han and the others a bag of water, grinning without any warmth. He was the second-in-command of the Purple Scorpion Team, nicknamed Hyena, and his words were as good as Purple Scorpion's command.

Upon hearing this, Ma Han's face immediately changed color. Purple Scorpion was clearly intending to use them as scapegoats for the reward.

Hyena scoffed twice and then walked off to joke around with his underlings, leaving only one person sitting aside, drinking and watching them.

"Captain, it looks like we're done for," Zheng Han sighed.

Ma Han remained silent and did not speak.

Swoosh!

Just then, a small stone flew out and hit the man watching them right in the temple. The latter's eyes rolled back as he let out a muffled grunt and collapsed to the ground. Ma Han and Zheng Han were startled, then quickly looked over and saw someone gesturing to them not to make a sound.

Lin Feng!? What's he doing here?

Ma Han and Zheng Han's spirits lifted, they nodded quickly, and even shifted their positions to better block the view of the man on the ground.

After taking out one person, Lin Feng immediately released several insect-like creatures that looked like fireflies from his hand. The little insects buzzed straight towards Hyena and his group of seven or eight men.

"What is this?"

Hyena was gnawing on a rabbit, but the annoying buzzing sound prompted him to slap irritably at it. On closer inspection, he found a bug the size of a fingernail that he had squashed, oozing a green, stinky liquid.

"Fuck, what kind of stinking bug is this."

Feeling nauseous, Hyena couldn't bring himself to go on eating the previously delicious rabbit. Right then, the few other insects that had been wandering around buzzed toward them.

"More?"

Hyena lost his temper instantly, and his seven or eight underlings also began waving torches, trying to drive away these insects, continually squashing them. Suddenly, a large swarm of dark shadows flew out of the dense forest, covering the sky like a blanket, as numerous as sand. The sight made Hyena and his men's faces blanch instantly. "Damn it, what's going on?"

"Fuck, don't tell me these are corpse bugs that are attracted to blood?"

"Shit, don't these things usually like to stay in smelly places or near rotting corpses? How did they suddenly appear here?"

"It's not the roasted rabbit that attracted them, is it?"

The faces of Hyena's underlings turned pale, and they hurriedly fled toward a small river like escaping death itself. These corpse bugs weren't even considered Demon Beasts, but once they gathered in swarms, not even a Demon General could defeat them. Although this sudden appearance wasn't a huge swarm, it was more than enough to leave nothing but bones of these Martial Apprentices.
