Frustration bubbled inside me, tightening my chest, and I needed something, anything to calm the burning anger simmering in my mind. Without another thought, I stepped out of my car and strode toward the mansion, hoping a cold drink would soothe the fire raging within me.


Just as I neared the grand entrance, I spotted Jade walking toward me. She had a playful sway in her step, carrying two glasses of juice in her hands, while a small basket hung around her wrist. The basket contained two more bottles of fruit juice and a neatly packed assortment of chocolate and vanilla cookies.

I let out a light chuckle, shaking my head at her antics, but accepted the glass she handed me. Without hesitation, I tilted it back and downed the entire drink in one gulp. The cool liquid slid down my throat, soothing me instantly.
