The hatching of a Pokemon Egg requires some time. Liam and Delia had already experienced this before, so they patiently sat on a blanket, quietly waiting for the moment when the Pokemon Egg would finally hatch.
"Liam, I'm back. The egg hasn't hatched yet? Perfect timing—here, these PokeBalls are for you two."
After some time, Kurt, who had just left earlier, returned. He carefully walked up to Liam, glanced at the Pokemon Egg that was glowing brighter and brighter, then took out two exquisite little boxes, handing one each to Liam and Delia.
"You each get a set—four in each box. Liam's set I prepared casually: one Fast Ball, one Level Ball, one Heavy Ball, and one Love Ball."
"As for Delia's set, I selected these with care. They're all my finest work. Inside, there's one Love Ball, one Moon Ball, one Lure Ball, and the last one—prepared especially for this little one—a Friend Ball. These special PokeBalls are my gift to you. I hope you'll put them to good use."
As he named each of the balls, Kurt's face clearly showed pride. These special PokeBalls were, just as he said, his masterpieces.
"Yes, Mr. Kurt, don't worry. I'll make sure to use these precious PokeBalls wisely!"
Liam nodded earnestly.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Kurt. I'll treasure them as well."
That was Delia's gratitude.
Hearing their responses, Kurt nodded in satisfaction before returning to his seat. He calmly sipped his tea, waiting quietly for the egg to hatch.
....
As noon approached, time seemed to fly by, but the three under the tree remained in patient anticipation, almost as if they had forgotten time was even passing.
"Zzzt!!!"
At last, after the long wait, a sound like coursing electricity came from within the egg. Suddenly, the entire Pokemon Egg radiated a dazzling blue light.
Its shape began to change—the glow stretching upward until the egg, once only 30–40 centimeters tall, extended to nearly 80 centimeters in height.
"Ruu!!"
The light condensed. Then, with a low growl, the blue glow burst apart. In its place stood a small, sky-blue, doglike Pokemon. Balancing on its hind legs, it leaned against Delia's lap, slowly opening its eyes to curiously take in its surroundings—until its gaze fixed firmly on Delia.
"Wow! It hatched!! But… what is this Pokemon? I've never seen it before—is it a new species?"
After waiting so long, the Pokemon Egg had finally hatched. Yet even after examining the little one carefully, Kurt could not recognize what kind of Pokemon it was.
"This little one's name is Riolu. Most live in regions like Sinnoh—it's not native to Kanto or Johto…"
Seeing Kurt's confusion, Liam chuckled as he explained. While speaking, he stretched out a hand, gently placing it on Riolu's head. He stroked its smooth fur, eyes shining with affection.

....
This was the data Liam obtained using his detection ability while petting Riolu. Though she wasn't Shiny, her stats were still beyond the norm—her future boundless.
"Ruu…"
Feeling Liam's warm touch, Riolu tilted her head toward him. A strange but comforting sense of closeness welled up inside her. She closed her eyes happily, letting out a contented cry.
Seeing the affection between Riolu and Liam, Delia—who was actually the one who had hatched her—felt a pang of jealousy. She bumped Liam aside with her shoulder, then drew back the protective hands she had kept around Riolu, carefully sliding them under Riolu's arms. With a bright smile, she lifted the little one up high.
"Little one~ It was me who hatched you! From now on, you'll live with me~ I promise I'll take good care of you~"
Delia's eyes crinkled into crescents as she gazed lovingly at Riolu.
"Ruu!"
Hearing Delia's words, Riolu nodded happily. Then she stretched out her tiny paw, gently resting it on Delia's hand. Immediately, a faint blue-white glow appeared.
"Wumm~~"
The moment the glow emerged, a buzzing filled Delia's mind. Then, a tender, childish voice echoed within her.
"You… are my Trainer? Such a beautiful Aura… It was this beautiful, powerful Aura that guided me into this world. I'm so glad to fight by your side…"
"Eh?!"
Delia was left speechless. When the voice finally faded, she let out a cry of pure astonishment that shook the air.
....
By afternoon, after having lunch at Kurt's home, Liam and Delia bid farewell to him and the kimono lady before heading toward their next destination—Goldenrod City, the location of their next Gym.
"…It's unbelievable. She's still just a little one, yet already has such incredible ability. This is really…"
Walking along the road, Liam couldn't help but smile helplessly as he looked ahead at Riolu, who had trotted forward on her own, claiming she was scouting the path.
Earlier, when Delia told Liam about Riolu's mysterious power, he quickly consulted Lulu, who had been asleep within him for a long time, to ask if this was normal.
"This is definitely not normal!"
Lullu had shouted angrily at the time—clearly upset at being disturbed. But after venting, she still explained seriously.
"It's not normal for the Riolu species. No Riolu is born with such a strange ability—except this one. She was from the system itself, her talent and potential beyond question. And before hatching, while still inside the egg, she seems to have been stimulated by something. She already had consciousness, just hadn't emerged yet. During that time, she must have been using this Aura power to observe the world, which explains her precociousness. But it's nothing to worry about."
That was exactly what Lulu said before promptly going back to sleep, ignoring Liam.
In the end, Liam could only tell Delia that Riolu was simply "too outstanding," which she naively believed—much to Liam's quiet relief.
