Chapter 483 - Chapter 483: Not That Simple

The group of four, consisting of the three girls Laura, Mordred, and Sherry, plus Galahad, definitely had no issues with their strength.

Not only did Ethan know this, but they themselves were quite aware. The captain would not just throw them into a world they could not handle. Seeing how decisively Ethan had left, this world certainly posed no threat to them.

So Laura suggested that everyone enjoy this "game."

First, they had to follow the game rules.

"What game rules?"

Logan's question was everyone else's question as well. Galahad did not deliberately keep them in suspense and quickly explained the rest of the story.

Laura devised a series of game rules. Essentially, everyone was forbidden from using any items brought from the Prinz Eugen, treating themselves as ordinary "blank slate characters" with no equipment, weapons, or supplies.

"Meaning all equipment must be acquired from this world."

Looking at the rule Laura set, it was clear this girl had not wasted her time playing the ton of video games she got from Tony back then. She had grasped the "essence" of adventure games.

Since they did not know the specific situation of this world, Laura only set this one rule for now.

The young people thus began a completely unknown adventure.

Although they were young, they were not inexperienced ordinary youths. The group quickly figured out their surroundings by piecing together information from scattered newspapers and various miscellaneous items.

The general setting was a modern Earth society, located in a medium-sized city in North America, neither particularly large nor small. A strange virus had recently broken out here, causing infected individuals to go mad and ferociously attack uninfected people nearby.

After actually encountering and dealing with several infected individuals, and meeting a survivor, the young people gained a more direct understanding.

In terms of aggressiveness and contagiousness, these monsters were very similar to zombies.

However, in terms of mobility, these infected individuals were not slow-moving and sluggish like zombies. On the contrary, they moved very quickly and could run and jump like normal people. Considering these guys could run and attack like mad without regard for stamina, it could be said that the threat posed by these virus-infected people was much greater than that of zombies.

From the survivor, Laura and the others learned that almost everyone in the city had been infected, and the infected were very sensitive to light and sound. Any loud noise would attract infected individuals within a certain range, and these infected would in turn attract more infected.

If that were all, it would not be much, but the most troublesome part was that mutations would occur among the infected, giving rise to special monsters with bizarre abilities. These mutated types were much harder to deal with than ordinary infected.

In short, they were in a city overrun by monsters, and their task was simple: escape alive.

They could have left directly. Both Laura and Sherry quickly discovered the "secret" on Galahad's shield, knowing they had a trump card they could use.

So the bold Laura proposed a second rule: fight these monsters using weapons they collected from this world, mainly various firearms found in shops or residential buildings.

"We could just slash through them."

"You can slash through them, too, as long as you can find a handy long sword."

And so, the young people plus a survivor formed a temporary team and began to rampage through the city.

Up to this point, although it seemed a bit like child's play, nothing too outrageous had happened yet, they were there to have fun after all, and it was not hard to understand setting some rules for a game.

The key was that after playing for a while, these young people felt it was not exciting enough. Mordred suddenly proposed directly eliminating all the monsters in the city.

Then, regardless of whether Laura and Sherry agreed, she unilaterally began her "savior" plan.

Relying on Mordred to clear out the city area by area was unrealistic.

After realizing these monsters were very sensitive to light and sound, Mordred came up with a crazy plan: choose a "fortress" and then continuously make noise and light to attract all the monsters in the city.

Hearing this, everyone had the urge to cover their faces. Ethan could already guess what happened next.

Mordred, who lived in "ancient times," had no intuitive impression of the scale of a modern city. She might have thought killing tens of thousands would be at most, but even in North America, a sparsely populated area, the population of a medium-sized city was significantly higher than that.

The terrifying numbers, coupled with the fact that the young people had no coordination whatsoever, the team lacked a strong leader, and Sherry's combat strength was mediocre, led to the group falling into a bitter struggle.

If not for their exceptional physical fitness, and Galahad decisively "breaking the rules" by fighting with magic and the shield Ethan gave him, these girls would likely have sustained injuries.

In short, with things having developed this way, the plan to eliminate the entire city had completely failed. The plan also shifted from eliminating these monsters to breaking out of the monster sea, they decisively rejected Galahad's suggestion to "retreat."

Fortunately, when Mordred was making the plan, Galahad was assisting her. Although Mordred had not thought about it, Galahad had considered escape routes in case things went wrong.

They escaped the encirclement through the sewers. There were also many monsters in the sewers, but it was much better than the situation on the surface where monsters were packed against monsters, leaving no place to even put a foot down, due to their actions.

They still managed to fight their way out successfully with their formidable strength, though they were much more disheveled. Sherry's hair was also singed by a homemade Molotov cocktail during a fight. If not for the protection of magic, it would not have been just her hair that got burned.

During this "playtime," the coordination among the young people could be said to be nonexistent. Laura only cared about having fun. Mordred only thought about how to show off. Galahad "dutifully" protected Mordred. Sherry, despite being the weakest, lacked self-awareness and kept quiet when she should have sought help from her teammates.

Many problems were exposed, especially when Galahad recounted them so directly in front of everyone, it was like slapping these young people in the face over and over.

After Galahad finished speaking, the young people all looked displeased. Ethan did not say anything directly but told them to go back and rest.

Regarding the education of the young people, honestly, it had not been given much importance on the ship.

This outing unexpectedly exposed many problems. Ethan first looked at the two "parents," Sherry's mother Annette, and Laura's father Logan.

"Tell me, what are your thoughts?"

Annette had no particular thoughts. In fact, she had never been very supportive of Sherry learning combat skills. She preferred her daughter to focus on academics and research, like herself. When she was a little older, she could serve as her assistant, and after a few years of experience, perhaps she could conduct her own research.

She was certain that what this team lacked most was research talent. If Sherry could "learn" properly, she would become an indispensable person in this team in the future, which would be of great benefit to both Sherry and herself.

Therefore, she was happier when Sherry did not perform very well. Perhaps this could make her daughter "return to the right path."

Logan also had no thoughts. Back then, he was not much better than Laura. The best way in this situation was for her to figure it out herself.

"When she gets a little older, it'll be fine, right?"

Ethan rubbed his temples. It seemed that these two children had these problems not just because of his failure as a captain in educating them, it was clearly because their parents had not thought about teaching them at all.

"I hope so."

Sherry had a mother and Laura had a father, so he could not interfere too much. Since the parents had this attitude, he did not need to dwell on these matters.

Only Mordred, he had to take her seriously.

Arthur hoped he could train Mordred into an excellent ruler so she could return and inherit his throne. Right now, Mordred was completely like a brat, which was definitely not up to standard.

In comparison, although Arthur had not been old at the time, he was much easier to teach.

"Headache, why do I have to worry about other people's children?"

The most crucial thing was that he did not know where to start. Teaching personality was completely different from teaching strength and knowledge, especially with Mordred's situation. It seemed the best approach was to let her grow up and mature.

Going in circles, Ethan actually found that he could only follow what Logan said, "it'll be fine when she gets a little older."

No wonder Merlin and Arthur did not say they would take Mordred back anytime soon. They had a good enough understanding of this child's personality.

Remaking Mordred was not something that would happen overnight. This was a long-term "trouble," and it would not be strange for it to take ten or twenty years.

Anyway, with Merlin's strength, there was definitely a way to turn Mordred back to her "normal" age. Ethan could also guarantee that even if Mordred became a mature, long-legged older sister figure while with him, she would turn back into a brat when she returned.

Thinking about it gave him a headache, so he put Mordred's matter aside for now. Ethan gave Annette samples of the monster blood and flesh he had harvested this time, such as from the unicorn, to see if she could come up with anything.

As for the blood and core of the Evil God, he kept them for his own research, to see if he could develop a more advanced "potion." If the divine blood potion had made him a demigod, perhaps this potion could allow him to advance further. If things went smoothly, perhaps he could truly become a being at the divine level.

However, he felt things probably would not go so smoothly.
