Elisa stirred softly, caught in that dreamless place between sleep and waking. The first thing she registered is warmth. Firm, steady, and completely enveloping. Her back pressed against something solid, her head pillowed on something soft, and the steady rhythm of a heartbeat under her cheek. The grass on the ground beneath her felt soft, almost unnaturally so, but it was the strength of the body curled protectively around her that anchored her to the moment.
She blinked slowly, disoriented. As her sight cleared she looked into the sky, the stars stretched across the sky like scattered silver dust, and the full moon hung heavy and low, casting its glow across the waterfall. The gentle thunder of falling water in the background was a lullaby that seemed to echo in her bones, the mist of its sprays dusting her skin like kisses.
She must've dozed off.
When did I fall asleep?
How long have I been asleep?
