If one had to find a word to describe this woman, it would be stunning.
Her facial features were elegant and refined. Even compared to the goddesses Ryoji had seen in the DanMachi World, she was in no way inferior. Her amethyst-like eyes seemed forever filled with gentle warmth.
Especially that white sweater she wore, it pushed up her extraordinary chest high and proud, and her waist-to-hip curve was incredibly voluptuous. If she walked down the street, she would undoubtedly attract countless stares and invite the gazes of many evildoers.
This woman was Ryoji's mother in this world.
She radiated maternal warmth at all times, like a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko, and was well-regarded by all the neighbors.
She carried a tray of food in her hands, and when she saw Ryoji's figure, her eyes lit up. Her soft brows and eyes curved with joy, and her entire being exuded a natural, delighted aura.
"Ara, the new school uniform suits you well, Ma~! You're looking more and more like your father!"
She was genuinely happy from the bottom of her heart. Though she had a stunning appearance, her mannerisms were graceful and even a bit pure, nothing like Freya's seductive charm. Her personality was sincere and genuine.
"Do we really have a dad in this family?" Ryoji loosened the slightly tight collar of his uniform and couldn't help but mutter as he walked toward the bathroom.
"We really do!"
"Then why isn't there even a picture?"
"Mm… because your father had to leave in a hurry, Ma~… But Mom promises, your father and you look exactly the same! Like you were carved from the same mold! I fell in love with him so quickly back then!"
'…Heh. No comment.' Ryoji chuckled a little internally.
'For someone as handsome as me… I'm actually the second one? Even setting that aside, what does it mean to look exactly like me?'
Though Ryoji had reincarnated into this world, his appearance hadn't changed from his Rakudai self, it was exactly the same. How could someone else possibly look just like him, Ma~?
'…Don't tell me I'm my own dad?'
Ridiculous.
After a quick wash-up, Ryoji, refreshed and energized, entered the dining room and saw the neatly arranged breakfast on the table.
The main course was rice sprinkled with seaweed flakes, the main dish was grilled salmon, the sides were crystal-clear seaweed salad and golden rolled omelets. It was a luxurious, well-balanced meal.
"Elder Brother! You're too slow!"
Someone was already waiting at the table. Seeing Ryoji walking over neither fast nor slow, she couldn't help but complain.
"What's the rush? It's only the first day of school." Ryoji ignored her nagging and sat down at the table.
"Elder Brother, show a little urgency! You're the only man in the family!" His little sister, sitting opposite him, looked at him with a worried expression.
Ryoji promptly switched the translator to Japanese, and sure enough, his little sister immediately started calling him "Onii-chan" with every sentence.
His little sister was an adorable girl.
Wearing a deep blue sailor-style school uniform, she was clearly still in junior high. Her features hadn't fully matured yet, but her delicate beauty was already visible. Shoulder-length cherry blossom–colored hair fell naturally around her face, with an ahoge strand playfully swaying on top.
Her personality was naturally optimistic. Anyone who met her for the first time would instantly feel goodwill toward her.
But she was clearly too strict with her elder brother.
"Calm down, Souji. You're acting like Dad doesn't exist. You'll make Mom sad."
"Hehehe, it's okay~! Dad said he'd come back in 20 years. Mom will wait for him forever!"
Their mom covered her face with both hands, completely immersed in a blissful fantasy of the future.
'Tch. Scumbag.'
Ryoji spat internally at the dad he'd never met.
Even someone like him, if he couldn't take responsibility, would never seduce a pure girl. Otherwise, Ais, Lefiya, and the others would've long fallen into his grasp.
But this dad he'd never met, he wasn't just a scumbag. He was trash.
"Mom's way too devoted to that guy…"
Little Sister Souji also muttered under her breath, clearly harboring a grudge against the man.
"Even if we give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he does want to take responsibility… how could he disappear for over ten years and not send a single cent of child support?"
…Yeah, that part couldn't be said aloud.
If Mom heard anyone badmouthing Dad, she'd definitely cry.
Luckily, seeing that Mom was still lost in her beautiful daydream, Souji let out a sigh of relief.
"We're heading out now!"
After breakfast, the two of them picked up their schoolbags and said goodbye to their mom.
Before leaving, Ryoji glanced at the nameplate beside the door.
The white nameplate bore one large character: Minamoto.
His mother was named Minamoto Yorimitsu.
His little sister was Okita Souji.
And his name was Ryoji.
"Souji, don't you think it's weird that the three of us all have different surnames?"
"Eh? Not really. Why do you ask?"
"No reason."
Even after living here for over a decade, he still thought this world was seriously damn weird.
Common sense didn't apply here at all.
The early morning of April still carried a slight chill.
The two of them walked through a narrow residential alley, entered a wide pedestrian path, waited at several traffic lights, passed through a bustling shopping street, and continued toward the mountain ring road.
Today was the first day of school.
Ryoji was 15 this year and had just entered high school. His little sister, Souji, was 14 and had just started her third year of middle school.
This town, called Kinoko Town, originally named Mushroom Town, but later changed due to sounding silly, though it was pronounced the same, wasn't particularly large. It couldn't be compared to first-tier cities like Tokyo.
Twenty years ago, Kinoko Town had been a rather backward rural area. But after a new mayor took office and vigorously developed local resources, it became modernized in just over a decade.
However, in the context of late 20th-century Japan, this kind of town could, at best, be considered catching the final train of modernization. Since it didn't attract enough capital, its tourism and other industries remained underdeveloped, leaving it stuck in an awkward middle ground.
With a total population of just over 100,000, Kinoko Town had only one school, a combined middle and high school private academy.
After passing the ring road around the mountain, the wide school campus came into view.
"Good morning."
The security guard at the gate was quite popular. Many students greeted him, and he always returned their greetings with a gentle smile.
"Good morning, Amakusa-san."
Souji stepped forward and cheerfully greeted the tanned, white-haired young man.
"Good morning, Okita."
The security guard, Amakusa-san, gave his usual kind smile. His voice was deep and magnetic.
Little Sister Souji was very popular in the middle school division.
Many faculty and staff knew this lively, innocent, and cheerful girl.
But whenever Ryoji appeared, all the attention without exception shifted to him.
The students and teachers nearby, regardless of gender, all turned their gazes toward him, unable to look away. A brief silence fell over the area.
Ryoji glanced at the golden nameplate by the school gate.
It read: "Private TYPE-MOON Academy."
