Michael's face was buried over her belly, his hands wrapped around her waist, as he felt better after her sweet words. But suddenly, he felt her body stiffen up. Craning his neck, he caught sight of her astonished face. There lay the cell phone in her other hand. What had she seen?
Layla flinched when, out of nowhere, Michael took the cell phone from her hand. As his eyes read through the message, his gaze darkened, seeing the sender's number. He knew exactly who it belonged to.
"Michael, my-my mother is alive," Layla stated in a whispery tone, her eyes glittering with tears. He got up and embraced her tightly. Although he had no proof of the legitimacy of the message, he wasn't going to leave Rose alone if it turned out to be false.
"Layla, don't believe her words yet," he stated while holding her tight in his arms, to which Layla craned her neck to meet his gaze.
