When it came to the childhood of Aemon Stormblessed Targaryen many strange tales were told. Many believed the babe would not live to adulthood as the night after he was born an immense fever had taken hold of him. Though most of them had left the same day some members of the royal family remained shockingly, including the boy's father Daemon Targaryen. However, to the shock of Aemon's wet nurse, they were also given the surprise of a brand new dragon. Despite this, it was days before the babe woke again and it's said that out of fear of losing him, Lady Rhea detached from the child. It's said she believed the boy would not live and so rather than become attached she locked herself up in her chambers and refused to leave.
However when news of the boy's death never came and she was met with news of the babe's recovery. Her actions turned around almost entirely. Instead, she spent almost all the waking hours with the child who was said to have grown even larger and become even more adorable. Despite having the staff and it being ill fit for a woman of her status it's said she always fed him from her own breasts. Nonetheless, the rumors intensified about the young boy being blessed by the seven or the old gods some even said that he was blessed by both. Although Lady Rhea did not indulge these rumors she did not do much to deny them either.
She was not the only one who grew extremely attached to the storm-blessed child. Both Queen Alysanne and the little black dragon that hatched alongside him seemingly guarded him nearly all hours of the day. Although he was routinely visited by his family members including Prince Daemon and Lord Royce. However many of the royal family had to leave after the customary feasting and celebrations. Although the good Queen decided to stay for even longer than the others and even decided to hold one of her women's courts there too. Although many believed this was just another pretense to spend more time with the young prince.
However attached the Queen was the boy's strange behavior did not go unnoticed no matter how much they said the boy was blessed. Some believed the boy to be blessed by the seven house Royce however still being old gods followers believed him to be blessed by them. This was mainly due to the baby's own odd behavior.
They said that the boy never cried as a babe and would sometimes simply stare off into space for extended periods. At first, some feared the boy would be simple-minded however this was quickly proved wrong. The child learned but also to crawl rather quickly and only a few months after began speaking simple sentences. It's said the boy's very first word was dragon although many maesters dispute this as unlikely.
Then towards the end of the year the crown held a great tourney in King's Landing. When a raven was sent to invite Lady Rhea to bring him to the great tourney of 98AC to celebrate the king's 50th year upon the throne. It's said that Lady Rhea became completely enraged and threw the missive and the bird right into the nearest fire. She adamantly refused to go until the boy's father was ordered by the Queen to retrieve Prince Aemon himself.
Soon after Prince Daemon rode Caraxes to Runestone and upon his arrival quarreled with her. Unusually it's said that Prince Daemon was far more patient with her than his usual behavior towards the woman. Even with that added patience she still would not let her soon out of her arms and her anger did not cool. However, her cousins Ser Willam Royce and Ser Gerold Royce managed to calm her. Then on her father Lord Yorbert's order, she agreed to go with the boy to the tourney.
Prince Daemon wanted to fly his dragon back to King's Landing and although she at first vehemently refused she eventually climbed atop the dragon. It's said that the entire time they argued all the way to the capital city. However, the babe between them only felt joy as the new prince's young dragon flew alongside them.
Later the little bronze Prince showed extreme joy at the tourny and even more so about seeing his great-grandmother once more. It's said that Lady Rhea and the baby prince spent nearly all waking hours together. It was even rumored that the king and queen had argued over the amount of time she was spending with Prince Aemon and how little she was spending with Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Viserys's family.
Despite this, it seemed that the good Queen only grew closer to you Aemon which was more than likely due to her own grief over her late son. It was also believed that she may have become even more attached due to the recent death of her daughter Princess and Scepta Maegelle Targaryen two years ago. In fact, it is believed that it bonded her to the princess Rhaenyra as well as she spent more and more of her time with the children of the royal family.
Soon time passed and the great tourney came to an end. The queen and king had offered to foster Prince Aemon in King's Landing when he grew older. However, this offer was politely declined. Soon after Prince Daemon and his lady wife returned to Runestone on dragon back and there Prince Daemon made a deal with Lady Rhea. Although the exact contents of this deal are unknown what is known is that one of the stipulations was that the Prince Daemon would come and see his son at least once every year on his name day.
Soon Prince Aemon's first name day came, and his father visited Runestone and upheld the promise made to Lady Rhea at the very least visiting the babe. He even gave the young prince the gift of a small toy dragon made of bronze and gold. Every year the rouge prince kept his promise and visited his son on his name day sometimes he would even stay for a while saying he needed to "Teach him what it means to be a true Targaryen man." Soon another year passed and the royal family suffered another tragic loss. The young Princess Gael Targaryen disappeared from court and was to have died of illness however it was later mysteriously revealed that the late Princess committed suicide after getting pregnant by a traveling singer and gave birth to a stillborn son. The crown once again sent for the 1 year old prince and his mother to attend the funeral although this time at the behest of the king himself. It seemed that Queen Alysanne had taken Gael's death particularly hard compared to that of her other children and the king felt as though the young Prince Aemon could ease her pain.
It seemed to do so as the Good Queen's failing hearing and memory seemed to recover some after a day of fever. She no longer seemed to require the use of a cane to walk and her overall health recovered significantly. She also seemed to now fully realize that the young prince was not her son Aemon but an entirely different person. Even so, her love for the young boy remained. But what was even more shocking was that for the first time since 93 AC the good Queen mounted her dragon Silverwing with the young Aemon in her arms as they soared from Dragonstone where she had resided since Princess Gael's death all the way to King's Landing. Then the pair flew around the city seven times before flying around Blackwater bay above the clouds to look upon the sunset and returning to the dragon pit at the end of the day.
Soon after the hand of the king and great friend of the crown the widely renowned Scepton Barth passed as well a funeral the young child also attended whilst in his great-grandmother's arms and under her close watch. Soon after Ser Ryam Redwyne was named the new hand of the king and Prince Aemon was once again returned to Runestone and the Good Queen returned to Dragonstone.
A year later in 100 AC Ser Ryam Redwyne was relieved of his duties as Hand after only a year in office, and was replaced by the Old King's son and heir Prince Baelon. Baelon was said to have adored his grandson just as much as his granddaughter and enjoyed watching the two play together as children. However, after Prince Baelon was appointed they did not spend as much time together. Although Prince Aemon was never as close to his grandfather as he was before he was known for a particular incident as a child where like his grandfather had done with Balareon the black dread before him. The young Prince Aemon picked up a stick and smacked Prince Baelon's dragon the largest alive at the time Vhagar on the snout with the instrument.
Although many precautions had been taken to prevent an incident like Baelon's repeating it seemed the grandson took after his grandfather. The boy had even gone so far as to slip past his mother and his own guards as well as the dragon keepers just to get to the great green and bronze dragon. When asked about why he had done such a thing he simply replied with, "The old wench was being a grouchy old coot and needed to be taught a lesson for being rude to me!"
Luckily the young Prince was unharmed but was returned to being under his mother or grandmother's constant watch and presence until he returned to Runestone. At which point he was no longer allowed outside of the castle walls. However, the child grew a new reputation for his unflinching bravery and was nicknamed "The brave reborn!" and "The bold!" And any time he was in the presence of Prince Baelon the younger Prince insisted on the two of them being called "The brave and the bold!" He claimed the new title suited them the best and the Good Queen agreed much to her most people's amusement. For a short time after the young prince and his grandfather became nearly inseparable. Prince Aemon would follow his grandfather around and often whack away at him much as Baelon had done to his own older brother at a young age. Soon however the bold boy had to return to Runestone.
At the age of three, there were sadly few others around his age for him to interact with at Runestone Castle so the boy spent most of his time around adults. That and the fact that although the boy was only three name days but looked to be roughly five years old instead. So instead he was allowed to undergo sword training under the supervision of many of the knights there. Until one day finally the young boy managed to flame the title of the youngest dragon rider ever. By five name days, he began his sword training and then it was truly seen what brought him to be so blessed.

Hey guys do this chapter is kinda incomplete. Mainly because I haven't been able to write much today as I got some really bad personal news plus I was super hungover. On one hand, I tried Grammarly out for this so hopefully the grammar is a bit better with fewer spelling mistakes. Also, this chapter wasn't actually supposed to be this. Rather it was supposed to be just one of these events that I went over rather than a quick montage of the first three years of his life. So I was thinking of going one of three routes with this but before I list that I wanted to talk about this chapter some more.
My main concern here was that I would have accidentally left out any major events in the timeline or something like that as I don't own Fire and Blood so I'm just working off what I know and the wikis on the internet. As a result, I really hope that I'm not making people make too many decisions out of character. For example, Daemon I wanted to portray that although he still hates Rhea with all his guts he was willing to compromise that for Aemon's sake. Mainly because from what I can tell Daemon at the very least was a rather good father to his twin daughters. Plus the fact that at least in the show he's sort of a father figure to Jace, Luke, and Joffrey. Also if you haven't guessed already just to make it clear this is a mix of the Book and the Show timelines.
I also felt like Rhea was out of character because she's very much a more Arya Stark type of woman but also I feel like if she just had a kid and then almost immediately thought that kid was going to die only to find out they live. Then they start doing dumb shit like walking up to dragons and smacking them on the nose is very concerning. So I feel like maybe developing her in a way where she's more like let me go with you so you don't do anything stupid because I can't let you out of my sight sort of parent. Aemon is still very young. But I'm honestly not sure and I'm wondering if that's too out of character for her as well.
Also, I'm having a really big problem deciding on Laena Velaryon specifically because in both versions she is wildly different. The show version is younger than Rhaenyra but the book version is way older than her she's even the elder sister of Leanor instead of the younger sister. Plus there is the obvious thing of skin color. Now personally I think it's a cool idea to have the Velaryons have a darker skin tone it makes them more distinct from the Targaryens. That being said it makes basically no sense as those two houses have been marrying into each other for hundreds of years so unless it's a recent thing the Targaryens should at least look mixed.
Lastly going forward for these next chapters I kind of wanted to have some of these events listed be chapters of their own but I was in a hurry to write this for real-life reasons so it didn't come out how I wanted it to.
So should I
A: Continue with the story from this point forward.
B: Continue with the story but add flashback chapters sort of like an Omake but in the past
C: Delete this chapter and add those other chapters in order.
D: Do something else leave your recommendations in the comments.
Also, one last thing does anyone know why all my character images on the image page keep getting deleted? Also, I'm not sure if I will have an upload schedule for this so for now I'll just try and remain flexible.
