Chapter 196 - Chapter 196: The Five Champions (Part 1)

On the eve of Halloween, at the banquet, all the students had lost interest in the food before them, eagerly awaiting the selection results.

Finally, the Goblet of Fire, emitting blue and white flames, began to spit out red sparks.

After Krum from Durmstrang was selected, the hall erupted in applause.

But when Fleur was chosen, the students from Beauxbatons who were not selected were extremely disappointed, with even two girls starting to cry.

As the Goblet was about to select the champion from Hogwarts, the hall was filled with almost tangible excitement.

Jane Yu glanced around at the students who had put their names in, Warrington, Cedric, Angelina... each wearing a look of nervousness.

As if sensing her gaze, Cedric turned his head to look at her, and she could clearly see the seriousness on his face.

She made a cheering gesture, and then Dumbledore's voice rang out—

"The champion for Hogwarts—Cedric Diggory!"

Cedric stood up with a beaming smile, nodded in thanks towards Jane Yu from afar, and walked towards the room behind the staff table.

The cheers from the Hogwarts students lasted a long time, with every Hufflepuff student cheering, and even someone mimicking a badger digging a hole on the spot.

Jane Yu glanced at Warrington and found his head buried in his arms, unable to hide his disappointment.

"I knew Warrington wouldn't be chosen," Blaise sighed, "after all, the old Slytherin can't come back to life."

After the noise finally subsided, Dumbledore cheerfully announced:

"Well, now that the three champions have been selected, I know you will all do your utmost to support—"

As Jane Yu listened, she felt puzzled.

Where was Harry's spot in the competition?

Such a protagonist's essential item, akin to a sect's entry ticket...

Wasn't there any elder or figure to give him a special opportunity as a direct disciple?

But it turned out the protagonist's aura was irresistible. Just as she thought of this, Dumbledore suddenly stopped speaking.

The flames in the goblet turned red again, and a piece of parchment was suddenly ejected. After a long silence, he loudly announced:

"Harry Potter—"

The hall was in an uproar, with buzzing discussions at the Slytherin table, and the voices of discontent at the Hufflepuff table growing louder.

"Why does he get to participate?" Warrington angrily pounded the table, "He's not even seventeen, it's unfair!"

"Perhaps the old Slytherin should resurrect," Blaise raised an eyebrow, "even Gryffindor has manifested—"

The moment he finished speaking—

The flames in the goblet turned red once more, and another piece of parchment popped out, landing in Dumbledore's hand:

"Yu Jane—"

Jane Yu was so shocked she froze in her seat.

What was going on? Was the goblet broken?

She thought she hadn't put her name in!

This couldn't help her say goodbye to Hogwarts!

Which student was behind this?

Some sly person was trying to harm me!

"Did Slytherin really resurrect?" Blaise murmured in a daze, "Unbelievable, even Slytherin can have a champion—"

"This goblet must be broken," Draco frowned, "it hasn't held a tournament in centuries, it can't distinguish the number of people it should select."

"You've been with Beauxbatons all day," Theo's surprise was almost palpable, "you couldn't have put your name in, did someone prank you?"

The little snakes looked at each other, asking among themselves if any seventh-year students had secretly voted using her name.

"But anyway, if it weren't for the age line, Yu would certainly be selected," Daphne excitedly waved her arms, "have you seen anyone more qualified to be a champion?"

She received unanimous agreement and high recognition from the little snakes.

"I think so too," Warrington, who had just shouted unfairness at Harry, nodded heavily, "she is the honor of our Slytherin."

Although the little snakes quickly reached a consensus, the discussions in the hall grew louder, with cries of "the goblet is broken" echoing continuously.

Soon, accusations arose that she and Harry, being under seventeen, had put their names into the goblet without permission. This made the Slytherin students frown deeply, showcasing their biased protective nature to the fullest.

"Blaming the road for being uneven because they can't do it themselves, why didn't they have the brains to tame the Goblet of Fire? The hospital wing is full of underage students who were kicked out by that goblet after taking aging potions!"

"The Weasley twins from Gryffindor, Fawcett from Ravenclaw, Summers from Hufflepuff... they all violated the rules!"

"Besides, Yu didn't even submit her name! Someone as strong as her wouldn't care for such a competition! Someone must have framed her!"

Dumbledore once again loudly called out the names of the two:

"Harry Potter, Yu Jane, please come up here!"

The sounds of booing and whispering filled the air as Jane Yu stood up, her gaze meeting Harry's from afar.

She saw the fear and unease mixed on his face, as he stumbled over the seats, stepping on his robe as he made his way to the platform.

But as she left her seat, not knowing which little snake started it, someone at the long table suddenly began to loudly tap their goblet with a spoon.

One after another, the little snakes silently tapped their goblets, showing their support for Jane Yu. The crisp sound overshadowed the commotion and boos in the hall, causing students from the other three houses to stop their discussions and look at their actions in astonishment.

A few seconds later, the students from Gryffindor realized something as well, as if competing with Slytherin, they also began tapping their goblets.

The students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons glared angrily at them, their boos growing louder, with some even attempting to draw their wands.

Seeing the situation gradually develop into a standoff between schools, the students from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw straightened their backs as well. At this point, they couldn't care less about discussing how Harry and Jane Yu put their names in; their goblets were ready to go.

The hall descended into chaos, forcing the three headmasters to step in to stop the increasingly agitated students.
