Chapter 19 - Welcome, Bay Star

Dear Diary,

After all the screaming, sweating, and threatening to throw Min-jun out of a moving vehicle… she's finally here. Our baby. Our daughter. Our little star.

And she is absolutely perfect.

The First Look

The moment they laid her on my chest, everything just... stopped.

She was tiny, squishy, and wrinkled like a raisin, but to me? She was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

Min-jun stood there, frozen like he was staring at a UFO.

Then he blinked and whispered,

"She's really ours…"

I nodded, too tired to speak but somehow full of more love than I ever thought I could hold.

Then he added with teary eyes,

"She has your nose… thank goodness."

I smirked,

"And she didn't pop out with your loud mouth, so I call that a win."

Tiny Fingers, Huge Emotions

They cleaned her up, wrapped her in the tiniest blanket ever, and placed her gently into Min-jun's arms.

He looked down at her like she was made of glass and stars.

"Hi, baby," he whispered, "I'm your very tired, very lucky Appa."

The way he stared at her made my heart feel like it was glowing.

Then he looked at me and said,

"We did it, Eun-ji."

And I just started bawling. Like, ugly crying. With snorts.

Min-jun:

"Why are you crying?"

Me:

"Because I'm happy and tired and my back hurts and LOOK AT HER, SHE'S SO CUTE!"

Visitors Galore

By morning, our hospital room turned into a party zone.

Hye-jin came in first with pink balloons and a huge stuffed unicorn.

"She's already prettier than Eun-ji," she said, fake-crying.

I threw a pillow at her.

"She has my face, thank you very much."

Dae-hyun peeked over Min-jun's shoulder and whispered,

"I don't know anything about babies, but this one? She's got main character energy."

Even Seul-gi brought snacks and quietly left a note:

"She's going to change your world."

Naming the Star

Later that evening, when the room was quiet and the nurses had dimmed the lights, we finally decided.

Min-jun: "So… what do we name her?"

Me: "She's been shining since she got here."

Min-jun: "Like a star."

Me: "Exactly. Let's name her Ha-neul, like the sky."

So now, little Ha-neul is sleeping beside me, dreaming baby dreams while her completely exhausted parents sit staring at her in awe.

And yes, Min-jun already cried twice.
