Chapter 700 - Chapter 917: Unusual

Facing the pincer attack of the twin dragons, Yveltal naturally had no intention of waiting to be hit. Transforming into a giant bird wreathed in deathly flames, it let out a piercing cry as it soared upward. With each beat of its wings, the death flames rained down.

Its target was Reshiram's Fusion Flare.

Since Reshiram did not have Julian's BUFF, its strength was slightly weaker than Zekrom's—something Yveltal naturally sensed.

So Yveltal's plan was to take down the weaker dragon first.

Yveltal's Oblivion Wing clashed with Reshiram's Fusion Flare. The sound of their collision shook the entire sky and earth, and the next second, a terrifying shockwave erupted.

Space around them trembled violently. The ground below sank and split open, cracks spreading like a spiderweb in all directions, expanding continuously.

The largest fissure stretched several kilometers in length, its depth unfathomable.

Meanwhile, Zekrom's Fusion Bolt was already closing in, but just as it was about to hit Yveltal, the death energy surrounding Yveltal suddenly surged dramatically.

With a thunderous boom, Oblivion Wing shattered Reshiram's Fusion Flare.

Another loud crash followed as Oblivion Wing slammed heavily into Reshiram. The immense impact force, combined with the death energy, forced a agonized cry from Reshiram, causing many of its white feathers to scatter.

Struck by the blow, the White Dragon plummeted toward the fissure below.

Seeing this, Lyle's face lit up with delight.

But let's not forget—Zekrom's Fusion Bolt had not disappeared. Just as Yveltal sent Reshiram flying, the Fusion Bolt struck it.

Yveltal, being Dark/Flying-type, took full damage from the Fusion Bolt, which also carried the power of flames.

Logically, Yveltal should have suffered significant injuries after taking the hit. But suddenly, massive clouds of black mist appeared all around.

As the black mist poured continuously into Yveltal's body, the wounds inflicted by Fusion Bolt healed instantly—and its aura seemed to become even stronger than before.

Seeing this, Julian froze for a moment.

'Where did this black mist come from?'

"Hahahahaha! Julian, Yveltal cannot be killed! It is invincible!"

While Julian was trying to figure it out, Lyle's roaring laughter echoed. Watching the black mist converging from all directions, Lyle's grin grew even more maniacal.

Watching the gathering black mist continuously being absorbed by Yveltal, Julian understood that this was the main source of its healing and power enhancement. But where was this black mist coming from?

'Death!'

A possibility suddenly struck Julian. He looked at Yveltal and said, "This black mist is the death energy formed by the humans and Pokémon who died in the aftermath of the battle, isn't it?"

"I am the God of Death."

Yveltal's calm voice echoed in his mind.

So that was it!

Julian's heart sank slightly.

Since Yveltal was the God of Death, it brought death—and naturally, death could also make it stronger.

The entirety of Babath had a population of 100 million people, not to mention the countless Pokémon.

Atleast the shockwaves from the battle couldn't destroy the Secret Realms; otherwise, if even the Pokémon within the Secret Realms were affected and died, the resulting death energy would be unimaginable.

Even so, the number of wild Pokémon was still enormous. The deaths of humans and Pokémon had become nourishment for Yveltal.

Realizing this, Julian felt things becoming troublesome. It felt as though things were gradually slipping out of his control.

This was essentially forcing him to protect the people of Babath. Putting aside the historical grievances between the two nations, the range of the battle's aftermath was so vast that even if he specifically directed Reshiram to intervene, it could only protect one direction.

As for creating a protective barrier, that was even more impossible.

Unless Arceus itself came to create such a barrier, even a barrier formed by Mewtwo wouldn't withstand the battle of three First-class Legendaries fighting inside it.

By now, Reshiram had flown back to Zekrom's side. It wasn't in great condition, with faint black flames still flickering on its body—these were Yveltal's death flames, continuously draining Reshiram's stamina.

Julian stopped Zekrom's BUFF and connected it to Reshiram instead. As Reshiram's aura surged dramatically, the death flames on its body dissipated.

"Human, you are... unusual."

Yveltal was slightly astonished to see that Julian actually possessed the ability to empower a First-class Legendary. In its long years, it had never witnessed such a thing. No wonder this human had gained the favor of three First-class Legendaries.

Hearing this, Julian tentatively asked, "How about you join me?"

Yveltal: (艹皿艹)

'Just because you're unusual doesn't mean I'll follow you. I am a First-class Legendary with a "divine role," you know! Do you think I'm some ordinary First-class Legendary like those two beside you?'

Seeing the death flames around Yveltal surge even more violently because of his words, and noticing the Black and White Dragons turning their heads to look at him, Julian felt a bit awkward.

Reshiram and Zekrom: 'You already have the two of us, and yet you're still not satisfied? You scumbag!'

His words, translated by lip-reading experts, were naturally broadcast to the world.

---

> "Damn, Champion Walker is something else—even in the middle of a battle, he's trying to recruit the enemy!"

> "I think I'm starting to understand how Champion Walker managed to tame the Black and White Dragons now."

> "Yveltal looks pissed!"

> "Experts say Yveltal can absorb power from dying creatures around it. With so many people in Babath, wouldn't that make it even stronger?"

> "Why doesn't Champion Walker summon Kyogre? Three against one—no matter how strong Yveltal is, it would definitely lose."

---

Many people were also wondering—since the death energy isolating Babath had already dissipated, Julian could have summoned Kyogre, yet he hadn't.

Although the Black and White Dragons were powerful, Yveltal's ability to absorb death meant that as long as life continued to perish, harming it would be extremely difficult.

Unless every human and Pokémon in Babath died, cutting off the source of the death energy, Yveltal's power would remain endless.

But if it truly reached that point—after absorbing the lives of 100 million humans and countless wild Pokémon—how terrifyingly strong would Yveltal become?

So Julian had fallen into a dilemma.

The twin dragons couldn't defeat Yveltal quickly, while the latter could continuously heal and strengthen itself by absorbing death energy. The longer the battle dragged on, the more disadvantageous it would become for Julian.

'Damnit, absorbing death? How is that a fair ability?' Julian felt a headache coming on. This was the power of a First-class Legendary with a "divine role." No wonder it was so troublesome.

Speaking of which, since Yveltal had appeared… wouldn't its mortal enemy show up as well? Would Xerneas make an appearance?
