The morning light crept through the tall windows of Arthur's chamber. He was already there, standing by the window, arms folded behind his back, his violet eyes fixed on the sight below. In the estate gardens, shadow demons, ghastly, horned silhouettes of living darkness pushed lawnmowers and tended hedges in silence, their motions unnaturally precise. Among them, Raven sat there in the garden calmy reading a book.

George entered quietly, the door giving a polite creak before he stepped inside. His intent was clear, rousing Arthur from sleep but he froze when he found him already upright.

George cleared his throat. "I had come to wake you, Master Arthur, but it seems that won't be necessary. Though I must say it's rather strange for you to be awake at this hour."

Arthur didn't turn. His gaze remained on the garden below, voice low and steady. "Didn't even sleep, couldn't."

George arched a brow, stepping closer. "Still thinking about what happened, and lady Death ?"

Arthur finally glanced over his shoulder, a smile tugging at his mouth. "Not really. Just… didn't feel tired."

George studied him for a moment, then clasped his hands neatly behind his back. "An unnatural constitution has its conveniences, I suppose. Though I can't say I recommend staring at shadows cutting grass as a substitute for rest."

Arthur smirked faintly at that but said nothing. His attention drifted again to the window.

George broke the silence with measured calm. "Well, sleepless or not, you have a visitor."

Arthur gave a short chuckle, almost dismissive. "I know. I sensed her the moment she set foot here." He finally turned away from the window, his cloak shifting in the morning light. "I saw her too, out in the garden there."

George inclined his head slightly, a flicker of wry respect in his eyes. "Of course you did."

Arthur was already striding for the door.

The garden carried the scent of dew and soil. Shadows moved like servants, their forms tending to tasks no human hand can match. In the middle of it stood Raven, her dark cloak blending almost seamlessly with the tall hedges, her pale face calm. Her hands were folded neatly in front of her, but there was tension in her stance.

Arthur greeted her first.

"Raven." He leaned down slightly, brushing her cheek with a kiss, his violet eyes flickering. "I sense that you're still worried about what happened."

Her reply was quiet, controlled, though her voice wavered at the edges. "Of course I am. But I'm not stupid… or a muscle brain like Kara." She looked away briefly, almost embarrassed at her bluntness, then returned her gaze to him. "I spent the entire night connecting the dots, trying to understand Didi, and what really happened."

Arthur's face softened into a calm seriousness, his attention fixed wholly on her, listening.

Raven hesitated before speaking again, her voice dropping. "I always suspected from the first time I saw her that she was someone powerful. Maybe even dangerous. One thing is certain… she's not human. And she's not dead."

Arthur exhaled through his nose, then smiled faintly. "Smart as ever." His voice hardened, low but precise. "Yes, she is not dead. As for what she really is, Didi is... part of the Endless."

Raven's brows knitted. "The… Endless?"

Arthur nodded. His tone serious. "They are powerful beings..or rather, representations of the forces they embody. They call themselves a family, siblings. They are the children of Night and Time, born before gods were ever dreamt of. Didi embodies Death. She is Death. Not a concept. Not a metaphor. The embodiment. She has existed since the first breath of the universe." His eyes locked into Raven's, violet flames burning faintly within.

His words hit her like a stone. Raven blinked, taken back, her own voice escaping in a quiet, disbelieving breath. "Woah… of all things, I didn't think she was all that."

She fell silent, chewing on the revelation. Then, as if dragging herself back, she said, "I never heard of the Endless. Not once. And I thought Nekron was the embodiment of Death ?"

Arthur smiled, but there was no warmth in it just a quiet certainty. "Nekron is nothing compared to me. Or her."

Raven's lips parted slightly, then closed. A small, reluctant smile touched her features. "I understand why you kept her identity a secret all this time… was the other reason.. fear ?"

Arthur shook his head. "No. Not fear. Didi is… good company actually. She is simple, and at the same time not simple at all. She's the only person I can't quite read."

Raven's eyes softened at that, her guarded composure slipping for just a moment. She said nothing more, only studied him with something like curiosity.

Behind them, George, who had been politely silent up until now, finally spoke in his cultivated tone. "If I may interject," he said smoothly, "the revelation that your young lady friend is the personification of death itself is...how shall I put it? Surprising. Though I must say… she had an undeniable charm."

Arthur chuckled under his breath, while Raven gave George a look of disbelief.

George continued, utterly unfazed. "I daresay, Master Arthur, only you would find comfort in the company of Death herself, and only she would find intrigue in yours. Considering your powers..."

Arthur leaned back against the carved wooden frame of the garden bench, arms folded across his chest. His shadow demons moved silently across the grass, shearing it with perfect precision. Raven crossed her arms too, though for an entirely different reason. Her violet eyes narrowed slightly, studying him the way one studies a puzzle. "George is right…" she said at last, "The fact that she shows up to you...even during our vacation, was it because of your powers?"

Arthur tilted his head, his lips curving into the faintest smirk. He didn't answer immediately, letting the silence stretch just long enough for her to think he might evade the question. Then he said, matter-of-factly, "Yeah. It is because of my powers. But…" he let his gaze wander toward the sky before settling back on her, "at this point, I just think she's interested in me."

Raven blinked. Once. Twice. "That explains everything then, you do keep attracting strange beings because of your..." She stopped mid-sentence, realization dawning as her expression hardened. "…wait. What do you mean interested in you?!"

Arthur's smirk deepened. He was teasing her, and he knew she knew it.

Her cheeks warmed, though she tried to hide it under the usual veil of composure. Her voice came sharper now, full of jealousy that was clear on her face more than she'd ever admit. "Interested how exactly?"

Arthur let the silence linger again, then broke into a soft chuckle. He unfolded his arms and leaned forward slightly, reassuring her. "Relax. She's Death, Raven. She's got plenty on her plate and I mean plenty. Death herself doesn't bother with things like love and intimacy. Her concerns lie far beyond this." He gave her a steady look, the teasing softened into something warmer. "So, no, you don't have to worry."

Raven exhaled slowly, as if catching herself. Her tone cooled back into its usual thoughtful cadence. "…That also makes sense."

There was a pause, her eyes flicking away toward the horizon. "I'll make sure to explain this to Kara in my way. I know she can be a blockhead at times. She probably still thinks Didi is dead… blaming herself for not being able to protect everyone."

Arthur sighed, 'oh yeah, the embodiment of hope..'. "That would be helpful so do that. Honestly, Kara needs to be careful out there after what happened yesterday. If someone like Black Mask had his hands on a weapon that fired red sun radiation, it means both she and Superman aren't exactly safe. Not just from supervillains..." he gave her a sharp glance, "...but from anyone. Even some random thug with the right trigger finger."

Raven's face tightened at that, her usual stoicism shading into something more protective, more human. "Carelessness is a luxury we can't afford anyway."

Arthur nodded once, "Exactly." he then added. "As for me, I'll head to your room. I need to enter that dungeon once more."

Raven's head snapped up at that, her face flushing instantly though she tried to mask it behind her usual calm. "Then… go alone," she muttered, her voice quiet but shy irritation was written all over her face. "Because I'm not enjoying what the Titans have been saying about us recently."

Arthur tilted his head, studying her. For a moment, he almost looked amused. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he stepped closer. "But you are my girl," he said softly, the conviction in his tone leaving no room for doubt. "It doesn't matter what they say." He leaned down slightly, letting his words linger between them, then added with a low chuckle, "But fine. Whatever makes you feel comfortable, I'll go alone."

Raven's face grew even redder at his words, her eyes darting away as if the floor had suddenly become the safest place in existence.

Arthur leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss against her cheek, the gesture carrying both reassurance and mischief. "Exchange," he whispered.

And in the blink of an eye, he was gone replaced by one of his bewildered shadow demons, who blinked around the garden in pure confusion.

Raven groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Great… now I'm blushing in front of his shadows."
