Chapter 20 - #20 - The Living World (7)

"Good morning, may I bother you with some questions?" The old and raspy voice of the old man in front of me asked.

It was barely morning, I grabbed a phone from my inventory and saw it wasn't even 5 am. The streets were devoid of people but full of little trash.

The parade of the Princess had left behind a mess that made me feel pity for the ones who were going to clean it.

"Uh... Maybe? Are they going to be tough?" I answered with a little laugh. I needed to set a lighter atmosphere.

The old man in robes noticed this and almost laughed. "No. Not at all, it won't be nothing but harmless questions." He says.

I want to believe him, but I'm also preparing if he does something.

"Alright, then." I say without adding much.

"Very grateful. Did you kill him?" He gives me a smile that doesn't change even with his question. Even with that kind of question.

It throws me in for a loop, that's a very broad question that I don't have an idea where to start.

Well, I do, I'm almost sure, but I can't be sure until-

"The Leader Cultist, I mean." He adds.

"Ah, yeah." I answer immediately.

It's not something to hide, it's not something to be ashamed of, it's fine to say it.

"What were his last words?" He asks, a little shift in his smile.

"He said something about using my head." I start.

"Your head?" He asks, following my lead.

"Yeah, I asked him about his motives and any grand reason he had to do this."

"And he didn't answer you." He affirms.

"No, he answered me. He said that he wanted to evolve, to be better and make everyone better."

"I see." He answers without missing a beat. A flicker of emotion passed through his eyes, the most emotion I've seen him express in the whole conversation.

"I suppose I could give you this." He waves his hand, and a band of paper appears in it, like he just pulled it out of thin air.

So that's what it looks like when I do it.

I take the papers and quickly examine them on top of my head.

The papers have a lot of things, but it's mostly magic circles, blueprints, and diary pages.

"Well, I think my purpose is done. Thank you." Like every old person, he said what he wanted, got the information he needed, and left after giving a reward.

I saw him walk in the right direction, before disappearing in a magic pulse.

"That was something, I guess..." At least I woke up early.

While I can force my body to wake up at any time, it feels better if I wake up naturally after being well-rested. This wasn't precisely natural, but still.

It's nice to be awake early in the morning.

I went out of the house and flew over it to sit on the roof.

The air was cold, that kind of cold that can seep into your body and numb it.

Have you ever stayed up until late in the morning? Around 2 to 5 am. And then you had a bad feeling about yourself? Yeah, so have I.

Every time I wake up in the morning to do nothing but stay still and take manual breaths, I feel like I heal from those moments.

The feeling that I get is the complete opposite of the latter ones.

Makes sense, I guess.

Staring at the rising sun gets boring after a while, so I take a book from my inventory and begin to read.

A book I got from the dungeon. In the Cultist's section of it.

When I got to the dungeon, I didn't find the cultists feeding a solar tablet with chants or anything, so I went inside. I also had to get ectoplasm, souls, and any other drops that Plantera added to the place.

I took the time to check the bookshelves and I found a lot of magic books that I had to shelve in for later.

Now it's later.

And let me tell you something: This is pretty fucking interesting.

Holy shit.

Every, and I mean EVERY, spell it's in here.

Flying magic, ice magic, fire, electricity, darkness, illusion, light, summoning, teleportation, shadowflame...

And let's not talk about the protections in here... Let's do, actually.

Protection to mind, to poison, fire, blindness, curses, petrification... Gravity.

Hmmm... that one interests me the most.

Let's start from the beginning, though.

One of the books has a number one in the tape, so that's where I should begin with.

I have a perfect memory, so I just need to swipe through them...

"Magic is divided into two: Direct use and Indirect use..." Whoa, it starts off nicely.

Sometimes I forget that this is an ancient art, so important that even the Dryads used it.

And I forget that this is an art developed by more than 500 years, definitely enough to be studied.

.....

Okay, I think I have a nice base for magic. At least in this world.

Magic is described as the use of mana. Everything has mana in it, except for some rare cases of people, but those can be ignored because you can use mana crystals to get or increase your total amount.

Indirect use is the basic use of magic that happens when you use mana through a tool, this tool can be a weapon, a machine, a circle, etc. An example would be the mage player, who uses their mana to fuel a weapon.

Direct use is when you use the mana to draw the circle and enact the spell in the moment. An example would be the Cultist, the magic circles he does are done with mana only and he uses that same mana to fire the circle.

There's an interesting part in the book:

"While it hasn't been proved, it is greatly believed that mana is the life force, energy, vitality, etc, of something. This "something" is some sort of omnipotent entity that provides the grounding for logic, which explains why Magic(The use of Mana) can go against logic in the first place. Studies under this assumption assume that laws of logic are themselves how our discursive intellect breaks down and recapitulates the omnipotent's nature as the basis and condition of reality."

Assuming this is real, then the magic of this world is Terraria's energy. Or something along those lines. It would also mean that logic is just how our mind understands certain higher objects.

Like how there are cosmic horrors that we can't understand with our minds, and we explain them with simpler concepts.

I suppose this is a way you can see magic... Then what would that make Divine Magic from GOW?

No, wait, comparing two different magics with completely different sources is stupid to begin with.

NO, wait. If everything has magic in this world, then it should, or may, be intrinsically tied to a soul, which would in turn relate it to Divine (or any kind of) magic that comes from my world?

But what's a soul, then?

This gives me a memory.

In the manga Ragna Crimson, the eponymous protagonist gets into a conversation about the body and the soul. Investigation about cloning had deduced that at some point the soul appears in a living being with memories.

Does this mean plans can't have a soul, even if they're alive, because they don't have memories?

Obviously not, there are thousands of magic systems that work with extracting mana from plants.

Memories of the soul, then?

But how would that work? If a plant can have memories because of the soul, but develops a soul because it has memories, then it just becomes a paradox.

Ugh... This is weird.

But really fun.

It's a good question actually. Everything related to how the different magics work is really interesting.

I remember reading fan fiction in the past. A guy got thrown into a high-level world, and the author gave him some strong superpower from a low-level world, and he one-shotted everything with it.

What was it again? Overhaul? Killer Queen? Body manipulation? Something along the lines of one touch and one kill.

Maybe it won't work like that? Similar to how Haki can resist the effects of the Devil Fruits, some power systems would work like that, too.

Like Ki.

Ki has been used for everything in Dragon Ball. Literally everything.

From Kid Goku enhancing his body with ki and fighting adults to Kid Boo breaking out of a different dimension with raw ki and screaming.

In DBH they did shit beyond words. From creating portals to manipulating space and time.

Mimir described a soul as the form of it, which is the metaphysical parts of a being.

That includes their luck, mind, and even their direction that guides them to the afterlife.

But maybe not all of them are necessary. Which would provide some base for plants having souls.

Anyways, this little talk about souls is because I needed to have a basis of thought about souls and metaphysical things, at least a small one to guide myself with in preparation for the next book: "In the Nature of Souls."

Man, I am going to have so much fun.

.....

"Magic Records NO.1" I said. My voice was being recorded by my cellphone.

"Gravity Magic."

"Gravity is the phenomenon in which all things with mass or energy attract each other."

"In my right hand, there is a small compressed point of gravity, which works by creating a space heavier than the surrounding environment. I thought that gravity should be 9.81 m/s/s, but here it is around 18 m/s/s? A little bit more but less than 18.5. If I create a space heavier than that, let's say 19, then the surroundings circularly warp to that space, with the space origin at the center." Holy shit, I feel so cool.

"Does this make sense? Probably not. Shouldn't this power not work in the first instance because of the heavy pull of the Earth? Maybe it can be dismissed because the Earth's pull is so big it only would affect things of similar size or weight... Or it already takes it into account... That makes more sense since things already fall and are attracted to the center of the Earth in the first place... yes..."

My inexperience was showing, but I was incredibly happy with what I was doing. I was ecstatic, this might as well be called the best day of my life and it wouldn't be too far from the truth.

"With enough mastery, maybe I can further the strength of this magic even more. Dante's, or Lucifero's, gravity is rather strong, but it doesn't get near to the full use of gravity manipulation other users have... like Giratina or Kamen Rider Geats."

"Can it get to that point, though? Or will it hit a limit eventually? Maybe its power is limited to Black Clover? What would it be in that case? Around Lucifero or Lucius? At that point, I would probably need to use power upgrade cards. But it would end up being useless if I get a better gravity manipulator."

"I don't think there's anything in Terraria that can manipulate gravity with great precision, so here's a gravitational potion." I take the potion out and drink it.

I feel... an effect in my body.

Like a switch that I can turn on and off, it just got unlocked in my brain.

Focusing on my gravitational field as much as possible, I turn it on.

"My gravitational field doesn't change, but what pulls it does." I try to rationalize the phenomenon

"Instead of being attracted to the earth... it attracts me to the Moon."

"Wow."

"Okay, let me add a comment in the recording. Holy shit."

"How does this even work?"

My mind ran through theories in mere moments. I turned off the potion.

"The ingredients of the potion are Water, feather, blinkroot, fireblossom, and deathweed."

"Water is in everything, acting as a solvent. Blinkroot is used in a lot of potions, too. Feathers are used in featherfall potions, so we can be sure that it's there for a slowing effect and to reject Earth's gravity."

"Which would leave us with fireblossom and deathweed.... The fireblossom blooms in the underworld, maybe it's there to reject its gravitational pull?" I make a theory, even if it may be wrong its a good start.

"Similar to how certain doses of virus can act as a cure, certain amounts of fireblossom may work to reject the underworld. But that wouldn't explain why I'm pulled to the moon, it could pull me to the sun... No, wait, it does pull me to the sun AND the moon. NO, wait, it doesn't pull me to the moon or the sun, it pulls me to the celestial body above me."

"Yes... Firebloom to connect to the fire of the sun and reject the underworld... What connects me to the moon, then? Deathweed by elimination."

"Deathweed is a plant that grows in the corruption, and it has no connection to the moon- But what about the Moon-Lord?" Thinking about the Moon naturally led me to think about the Moon-Lord.

"The corruption is a cancer born by the evil thoughts of the people of Terraria, so maybe it has a connection with the most evil thing in the world?"

I know that I might be going too far with assumptions, but shit, it kinda makes sense.

"But now that it's death... It should stop working, but it hasn't... Are there still remnants of the Moon-Lord in the Moon?"

After a bit more theorizing, I realized I went off point and ended the recording.

...Only to immediately start another one afterwards about the studies of natural magic, that is, magic that comes from the surroundings and not the inner soul.

...

'Oh... It's dryad magic.' I inspect the markings in the stone, comparing certain parts to other plant-related magic I have seen lets me figure out the meaning of the markings.

I would start a recording, again, but the Moon doesn't have the best acoustics in the world.

The dryads made sure to seal the Moon-Lord in... well, the Moon. So I'm here to see if there's a certain hint I could take to learn it.

I could ask Calista, but I'm not sure how would she take that I want to learn Dryad magic. Well, she'd refuse because it's kinda the symbol of her species, so I have no choice but to learn it this way.

'Oh but, can't you just not learn it then-' shush.

These markings of the rectangle-shaped seal vaguely resemble nature in some way or another.

Earth, water, fire, and earth in the right side. In the left side there are four I can't really recognize or associate with anything. In the upper side there are seven that are emanating with emotions and in the lower side there's only one that looks like a star but with its five tips connected to the center by a line.

I feel mana coming from it, so maybe it's a Mana stone?

Stones of Mana, of Earth, Fire, Water, Air... What are other groups of seven and four?

Seven... Well, with the ominous feelings this gives me, it's probably the seven sins?

It would be the seven divine virtues if it were a nice feeling.

Ugh... Let me take them ...

.....

"What are you doing?" Terra asks me. She's never seen me with a book, so I guess it's an understandable reaction.

In the sofa of Eve's house(Man, ain't she cool for letting us stay here so much.) I was reading a book that explained the different reactions of mana and elements in nature. Like how calcium grows when exposed to mana.

"Reading this magic book." There were a lot of books in the dungeon, and I hadn't even gotten to the notes the wizard gave me.

Why did he give it to me? Is it a thank you for killing the cultist? It could be...

"What does it say?" She sits to my left and begins to eye the book.

Eleanor appears from out of nowhere and sticks her head from behind the couch and above my shoulder to see the book.

"It describes how certain elements may react with mana." I showed Terra the reactions that Iron and its isotopes caused.

"Ugh, I can't really get behind magic. Nothing is actually known about it, so I don't really trust it." Terra states her opinion.

"What do you mean? There's a lot known about magic." I retort.

"Yeah, but just enough to make use of it. Like, if I use a machine, I make sure to study plenty about its uses to not cut my hand off with it, but no one takes magic seriously enough to analyze it." Terra explains.

"They don't? The magic explanations here cite a lot of books and studies."

"Must be self-done studies... or a small group that investigates by itself and cites each other's studies..." She theorizes while passing the page.

That's something interesting... It makes me wonder what the social thought is about magic.

If it were in a world where no one had magic and one suddenly gained magic...

It's not as simple as ¨No one will care¨ or ¨Everyone will admire you.¨

People would have a large opinion. One that can easily be influenced by others...

Hmm...

"What do the people think about magic, as in, the average person?"

"Uh? Hmmm..." She takes her fingers to her jaw and looks up. "I think that most are scared or averse to magic. Although that feeling comes from the general ignorance everyone has of magic."

"And you don't?"

"Not really. One time I tried to investigate magic because I wanted to know how good it could be of a fuel. It wasn't really an investigation, more of a question, but I found too many stops. As if there was someone deliberately stopping magical research." She says.

"...What would you do?"

"I guess that we should further our magical personnel. Or has a curious soul gets his work about magic done and then spreads it to the people who are willing to listen." She keeps looking at the book as if she's memorizing it.

She immediately thought about researching and letting it

I would think about researching and keeping it in a wizard tower or something.

Without ever being let be affected by everyone...

Eleanor watched the exchange with dull eyes, happy to watch two people get along but slightly annoyed at being left out.

"Terra, do you like helping people?" I ask her, not looking at her but directly looking in front of me.

"That's a weird question... From where'd it come?" She asks

"I was just wondering how everyone feels about helping, like, helping a guy, a girl, a random person in the street..."

"I think that it's common to help someone, and also common to not help someone."

"Yes, but it... No, it doesn't really matter, actually."

"What? What's wrong?"

"No, nothing."

"Fuck off with that." In an uncharacteristic turn, she swears sternly, but not screaming. "Tell me."

"It's just... like, well... Don't you expect something from the person you're helping? Don't you want something? Isn't there a bigger goal in mind? A bigger something?"

"..." She stays silent and looks serious for a moment, she's considers her words seriously. "Arian, when we went out to help people because we had to get Eve out her not-yet-manifested depression, did you asked me to go along?"

"...no."

"I went of my own volition. I did what I wanted, and I wanted to help. There was no reason, beyond being with Eve, for me to help and no reason for me not to help."

"...so?"

"I'm saying that helping one another is in a human's nature."

My hand clenches, I leave aside the book, and stare at her.

"What if it wasn't? What if a human only looks out for himself and just pretends to look out for someone else? What if, when in a bad situation, they choose to escape and never come back for their loved ones, even if they could have endured the bad situation, or took the loved one with them?"

"..."

"Yeah. It is not in a person's nature to help someone; everyone thinks it is, but there's no such thing as a person who doesn't look out for themselves first. I'm not the exception if I were to do something similar. I'm not the exception if I decided not to help someone; I could without any danger or risk."

"..."

"I'm not alone in this."

"...Have you ever wanted to eat something tasty and made reasons in your head and then deluded yourself into thinking they were valid and not just there because you wanted to eat something tasty?"

...

???

What. The fuck.

"...Are you doing that thing where you want to distract me from the current problem?"

"Maybe it's not just for food, but for other things."

"You better be dropping the best of fucking speeches or else I'm leaving this world in this right moment."

"Like how something bad happens and then you tell yourself nothing in the world will ever make you repeat this issue."

"And then you do something good, but it turns out with bad results, so you tell yourself ¨oh I'm never going to do this again.¨ But you keep doing it?"

"What the fuck are talking about." With intensity in my voice, I tried not to scream at her.

"How many times have you done something nice just for it to come up wrong?"

...

"How many times have you wanted to help but lacked something critical?"

...

"How many times have you wanted to do something more, but lacked the courage to try again?"

Shit.

"How many times-"

"Okay, okay, I get your point, I'm wrong and all that."

"That's not what I-"

"I know, I know... I'm just consoling myself."

It's a simple issue, I think.

"Thanks for this. Like, making me think differently."

"Don't worry."

"I have one more person to ask, though."

"Then don't fear the answer and ask."

"Yeah... Yeah. I'll see you later."

Leaving the magic book in Terra's and Eleanor's hands. I walk out of the house to find someone with expertise in the matter of helping.

.....

"Really? Me?" Eve asks.

Calista's already done her part, so I can't bother-Consult her in this.

"You literally help people for a living; You're the best option for asking."

"Okay, okay... I also kinda owe it to you for helping me with coping and all that..."

"Yeah, so?"

"Right, right..." She took a breath and thought about her words. "At some point in everyone's life, the thought ¨Why should I even try?¨ comes up."

"In my case, I help because... well, uh." She squirms a little nervously, looks up, and the sun hurts her eyes, so she closes them. "When I was a child and I played at a park- one very much like this one- I saw two old men helping each other with a crossword puzzle... And it warmed my heart."

"With time and thoughts, I realized that every action of helping, whether I did it or someone else did it, kept my heart warm."

"At that moment, I thought ¨Ah, the world is so pretty.¨ and I decided my path."

"While it is a bit self-conceited, I think I'm a good person. Even if I only help to see the results."

"..." So who's wrong? Who's right? If I help just for the feeling of satisfaction, is that good?

"But judging myself only for the motivation is stupid, even more stupid than judging myself because of the results."

Maybe it's my turn to talk.

"Eve, I think I like helping... But every time I've tried it had only ended with something going wrong and I made things so much worse and at the end there was no reason for me to do good, even if I wanted to..."

The words came out of me as if they hurt me.

"So I began to think that there was no good in doing good. In such a stupid way, I deluded myself into being someone who excuses every good action he does with a benefit."

"I... want to be better... I want to be a person who acts because he wants to act, not because of what he's going to gain or because there was some factor to play."

"..." Eve had long stopped having her head up and now was drinking water from a bottle she had somewhere before we began talking.

"But at the end, I don't think I can become a good person."

"..."

"But I try to be better... I must be better... for myself."

"...At the end of the day, everyone can have their own ways of thinking, even if you decide to help only because you want something from the other person, that's still helping." Eve gives me one last push.

"Yeah... I guess you are right."

My thoughts go wild at this moment, trying to find something... anything to deny her words, a last struggle to keep me down from growing.

But instead, an old memory from a show I had seen long ago resurfaces.

"Caring for the weak. Helping each other in your times of need. Becoming friends no matter where you're from. Please don't lose those feelings. Even if those feelings are betrayed hundreds of times. That is my final wish."

The voice of the superhero on the TV is blurred, an already old memory that resurfaced just to mock me for having the answer all along.

Unlike the voice, my mind is clear now.

I know what I have to do.

I simply have to help.

The rest will follow smoothly.

.....

With my mental issues resolved, I didn't want to overthink how I would help people, get tired, and go back three steps. So I decided to throw myself into distractions.

Magic experiments? I'm doing well, very well. I can confidently say I'm at least an expert; the only thing lacking would be experience using the different spells in battle.

Normal magic is useful, comfortable, and apt for human uses.

Dryad Magic is strong, rough, and apt for heavy work.

Divine magic is versatile, strong, and overwhelming.

To do a comparison, Normal magic is like addition, Dryad magic is like multiplication, and Diving magic is like using exponents.

Each is good for specific things.

Second is technology. I'm going to take a leap and say that my skills cap out at around a 7/10

It's not bad, but most of it comes from memorizing and being fast with thinking.

I've already got a sample of every piece of technology in here.

And actually, the Steampunker came too, a girl named Ava.

She was nice, even if she smelled like someone had thrown coffee at her at all times.

It's not that I've hit a wall with my magic or anything, and since I have... A month left on the time, then I can easily spend some time doing something else.

What else would be...

Gacha.

Yep. It's time to roll by progress.

I can honestly say that I've fulfilled my promise. I'm a lot stronger and versatile with the cultist's spells. I can't say that I've got a lot from technology advancements, though.

Let me see how much I have... It should be like 300% or 400%

[Progress Bar: 894%]

...

"What."

I double-check the numbers, I look at it for several minutes straight, and I even check that I'm not using illusion magic to change the numbers.

"How?"

Okay, let me think about the numbers.

15% for EOC, 20% for each evil boss, 30% for the queen bee, 40% for Skeletron, 50% for the wall...

Slowly, the numbers began to make sense.

"Holy shit, the cultist was a 90%!?" Out of all things...

Why 90? He was weak. It must have been his role in the overall fate of the world or something like that.

To be honest, if I decided to leave things alone without defeating the cultist, he would've definitely won.

So he became even more important than he already was.

Hmmm... this gives me some ideas.

.....

[Progress Bar: 904%]

If the Eye of Cthulhu gave me 15, then how much would the King Slime give me?

The answer is 10%

Just what I needed, well, a 6% would have been more comfortable in my eyes, but it doesn't matter.

I'm in the snow biome, thrown across the snow that fell into the mountain like a lasagna. Just in case I get something really good and I have to scream like a maniac.

I screamed when I got Oberon in FGO, so it might be a possibility.

Anyways, let's pull.

I have a good feeling for this...

[1: Wall Of Flesh - Terraria]

Okay, okay, not bad.

I'm done with 2 assimilations, and Ragna is at the 90s, so I can throw it in, or just leave it in my inventory, I wouldn't lose anything.

[2: Yael Okuzaki - Lupin III]

Huh... I kinda remember this guy?

My memory is perfect, so it's not about forgetting. I'm referring to the fact that I only know of him from a little clip I saw on YouTube.

Meh, next.

[3: Agent 47 - Hitman]

Don't give me normal guys, I don't know what to do with them.

[4: Ulti-meatum - Regular Show]

Okay, now it's making fun of me.

C'mon, give me something good.

[5: Feather of Honor - Lobotomy Corporation]

A magical feather from a Phoenix that does mind damage to anyone.

Now it's getting better.

[6: Blacklight Virus Test Vial - Prototype]

Oh.

Oh man.

I remember I said I wanted Alex Mercer, but that was because I wanted to understand the physiology of the fairies.

But this will just try to consume me.

Maybe I can analyze it...? Yeah, no, but still.

Prototype has a special place in my heart as the first PlayStation game I played, so I'll have to check it.

[7: Bruce Wayne - DC]

Well...

I guess I could assimilate him to cover my bases.

He has some skills that Red Hood and Roland didn't have.

[8: Power Upgrade Card x 02]

Never hurts to have it.

[9: Megumin Panties - Konosuba]

My dear superpower that lets me have anything in the infinite fictional multiverse.

What the fuck.

[10: Description Mechanic]

Oh?

I summon the card immediately and use it.

[Description Mechanic: Anything related to the gacha will have an accurate description.]

Oh.

OH.

This is pretty fucking good.

I take something out of my inventory.

The Elucidator from SAO.

[Elucidator: Elucidator is a pitch black sword with trims of gray. It weighs more than a regular sword. Provides a minor boost to strength and agility as well as armor.]

A description via characteristics that will be useful.

Anyways, second batch.

[1: Nomu - My Hero Academia]

Oh? It's the monster from the USJ attack.

Shock Absorption... Could be useful, I guess... Although I could also summon him as a pet or something.

[2: Ozymandias - Watchmen]

Aha.

It's a cool character.

...An idea is forming on my head, and I don't like that I like it.

[3: Banner Mechanic]

Banner? As in ¨Gacha Banner¨?

Huh, it now properly begins to be a gacha.

If this does what I think it does, at the very least.

And for situations like this, the description mechanic comes in handy.

[Banner Mechanic: Reduce the gacha's endless possibilities to a few themes.]

I can try it after this 10 pull batch.

[4: AM - I Have No Mouth and Must Scream]

What purpose does this fucking serve?

Sheesh, the gacha does give me everything.

Wasn't it kilometers long? How would I even summon it?

No, wait, I'm not summoning it. I should just assimilate it and let my mind become more computer-like.

Anyways...

[5: Mosquito Girl - One Punch Man]

No horny, no horny, no horny...

Think of another thing, quick!

Uh... Yeah, benefits of assimilating!

-I could empower myself with blood.

-I could talk with mosquitoes.

...

Nothing more?

I mean, her assimilation won't give me any literal wings. I would have preferred a Garou or a Saitama, or basically anyone else.

But why would I summon?

I don't really have it in me to summon her just for romance or anything. If I did, I would have summoned someone else, like Delta, who seems easier for conquest...

What the fuck am I even thinking about?

[6: Power Weakness Removal Card x02]

Self-explanatory, but good.

Although what counts as a weakness is vague, it should be pretty useful.

Especially because I haven't tried whether power cards work only with powers from the gacha or any power. If they do, I'm leveling everything, just one time. Even if it's just to see if they get better.

[7: IXA - Tokyo Ghoul]

I'm gonna add it to the list of cool swords.

Although it comes in its case.

Which is pretty cool in itself, with the black color and golden trim.

Maybe I could research how it turns on and off to use it in any other situations?

Yeah... It's not that I lack investigating, maybe just a little confidence. And a little bit of fear of failing. But it should be good, it will go away when I fail, and with this thing, I can fail.

[8: Lucky Tinfoil Hat - The Amazing World Of Gumball]

This is fun.

I should use it for the rest of the pulls.

[9: Ayanokouji Kiyotaka - Classroom Of The Elite]

Once again, a normal guy.

Stretching the concept of normal, but I guess anything that doesn't go into supernatural/superhuman is the new normal here.

[10: Erza Scarlet - Fairy Tail]

Mythical pull.

Absolutely goated pull.

This is both a great summon and a great character to assimilate. Even if I'm a bit reluctant to assimilate girls. I won't lose my male features, but still.

A good summon because she's strong, smart, magic-based, from a similar setting as the one I would summon her to, she has a good sense of justice, etc.

And I don't need to explain why she is a good assimilation.

Anyhow, let me check the banner mechanic. Any changes in the gacha take priority.

"Alright... It's just literally gacha banners." I said, slightly tired.

For the price of twice the normal amount, I can specify my pulls. Now the 90 pulls seem a little.

Characters only, Items only, Locations only, Hybrid cards only, Powers only... And the list goes on and on... Ah, wait a second.

"Mechanics only gacha..."

I could pull this. Yeah, it will cost me 200% but it can be worth it.

Let's go.

[1: Music Mechanic]

God fucking dammnit.

What even is this?

Description mechanic, do your magic.

[Use the music from certain characters; the music is audible to you only.]

Eh?

As in... I can have their theme blasting off in my ears while I fight?

Now I want a Simon card, and a Giorno card, and an Ichigo, and a Perfect Cell...

[2: Shop Mechanic]

Oh? Now I'm interested.

A shop with... Things that I've already pulled.

There's a price for everything in here.

Power cards are sold with a stock of 10 per day at 10% each... Peter Parker for 30%, Another Ice Generation card for 40%...

It seems kinda useless. Maybe it will come on the clutch at a point?

[3: Recycle Mechanic]

Let me recycle four cards for a new one.

Not a bad pull.

[4: Full Assimilation Mechanic]

"You can assimilate every... Oh, it's this thing!"

What I've been waiting for.

It will let me assimilate every non-human thing I've got.

Ludwig! WhiteNight! Ender Dragon! All of those eldritch monsters that I want to assimilate just for the sake of it! Here I go.

[5: Assimilation Imbuing Mechanic]

Huh?

"Allows another person to assimilate characters I give."

I didn't know those weren't allowed before.

Not entirely useless.

[6: Change Form Mechanic]

"Let's me take on the appearance of my assimilations"

If I ever want to fool somebody, I guess?

This, plus the eldritch abominations that I'm going to assimilate, is going to go crazy.

[7: Fusion Mechanic]

Let's me fuse two compatible cards into two?

It's not usele-Hm? Sinergy?

[Music + Fusion Mechanic: Let's you get specific music]

Oh yeah? Like what.

[Ex: Sukuna + Mahoraga = Shibuya's battle theme]

...

It's actually super fucking cool and I'm going to use it a lot. Thank you very much.

[8: Affection Meter Mechanic]

Allows me to see the affection meter in all of my summons?

The wording implies that there was already an affection meter, but I couldn't see it.

Hmm... I've never thought I could be using a meter to gauge my popularity, but I can see the uses.

It can prove whether my summons are loyal or they can turn on me.

Whatever, next.

[9: Full Memory Assimilation]

Let's me evoke perfectly any and every memory from my assimilated characters.

Not bad, not bad.

Actually, good.

If I ever need some specific knowledge, I can look into my memories, and that's it.

[10: Special Gacha Pool]

What?

Shouldn't this be the banner mechanic?

"Let's me pull from a special banner with very specific details for the normal cost."

Seems a little bit useless-

[Special Gacha]

[Original Verse Gacha - 10]

[Time remaining: 9 days, 23 hours, 55 seconds]

Original?

Wait, as in...?

[Original Verse Gacha: God Of War - 10]

Oh.

Oh oh oh oh.

Holy shit, this might be game over.

If I get a single character from here, it's gg.

Or even a weapon, the blades of chaos would make my life so much easier. Or even better, the Blade of Olympus.

Let's pull.

[1: Draupnir Spear - God Of War: Ragnarok]

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Okay, take deep breaths...

While a part of me wants to think that I can kill anything and everything with this, it won't be as simple as getting a strong weapon and becoming invincible.

So, in other words, this is still around my level.

But in other other words... Runic magic.

Ahhh... I can already feel the knowledge seeping into my brain.

[2: Golden Fleece - God Of War II]

I can analyze the magic in it that allows for all attacks to be perfectly countered.

Or melt it and make something from its remains with its same properties.

[3: Nemesis Whip - God Of War III]

Ooooh.

I wonder what I can do with this.

Maybe it can access Divine magic that's more powerful than mine?

It's implied that the whip may have a connection with the eponymous goddess, so I don't know what to think of it.

The connection should be severed, with it being from the gacha, but the power remains.

For later, then.

[4: Dwarven House - God Of War: Ragnarok]

A comfortable house for me to stay in, and not care about anything.

[5: Aphrodite's Ambrosia - God Of War: Ghost of Sparta]

Huh.

A relic.

But this one is just the one that allowed me to do a hard kick.

Not everything can be good, I guess.

[6: Gulltoppr - God Of War: Ragnarok]

Good boy.

[7: Gold Touch - God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta]

What is... Ah.

Midas appeared in this game; I almost forgot.

He's just such a minor character, though.

[8: God Armor - God Of War II]

If it isn't the coolest armor in the game.

I don't know if the x2 that it gave me translates to something, but it should be pretty strong since Kratos was wearing it at the start of the first game.

[9: Atlas's Quake - God Of War II]

A skill card, I don't get too many of these ones.

This... is interesting.

Magic is tied to the soul. Is he going to feel when I use it?

Probably not, but it's food for thought.

[10: Athena's Owl - God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta]

Eh?

Wasn't this the thing that acted as a chest compass?

It might be useful if I make it smaller with the lamp and keep it in my pocket or something like that.

But that's just me trying to justify everything I got from here.

Okay, no characters.

But that's fair, literally all of the important characters are strong.

It could've been good to get one, even if it was just Kratos from the beginning of Chains of Olympus or Ascension, but meh.

So, anyway, can I pull again?

[Special Gacha]

[Obsessed Teenager Characters - 10]

[Time remaining: 9 days, 23 hours, 50 seconds]

...Okay.

What do you mean by that?

Like... Who?

Teenagers... Patrick Bateman or like that?

On one hand, yes, evil characters like Patrick Bateman or Lou Bloom; on the other, good characters like Kratos and Thorfinn.

I'm not pulling.

Actually, I should stop for now.

I've done 40 pulls and used 500% of the bar.

I still have another 40 pulls, but I should probably save... It's not like I'm desperate for-

Y'know what, just one more ten pull.

[1: Hosino Ai - Oshi No Ko]

I guess I like her eyes.

[2: Sprintmaster - Hollow Knight]

An ambulet to go faster. I don't think I will get the full effect of this, maybe a 1% or 5%

[3: Scythe Claws - Dead Cells]

Just some strong weapons.

[4: Casull and Jackal (Hellsing)]

Cool dual guns.

[5: Eto Yoshimura - Tokyo Ghoul]

Ooh.

A ghoul.

I've always wanted a kagune.

[6: Yoriichi Tsugikuni - Demon Slayer]

Not bad, breathing cooler. I guess.

[7: Arthur Leywin - The Beginning After The End]

Okay...

This is actually pretty good.

It's not the novel version, but it's good enough.

I don't get Sylvie though...

Realmheart should still work, even if it didn't; I'm always open for new forms of mana.

[8: Big Bird - Lobotomy Corporation]

Cool Satanic abnormality.

It scares me a little, but I don't dislike pets.

[9: Lelouch Vi Britannia - Code Geass]

I love characters whose ideas will change the world.

He's kinda like Ozymandias, too.

And now, we're at the final pull. This wasn't a bad batch at all, even if it started a little weak.

[10: Alucard - Hellsing]

...

...

"Holy shit." This is it.

This is actually ggs.

Like before, my mind tries to explain that being untouchable is not going to be as easy as assimilating a character from a weak world like his.

Another part thinks in how the fuck would I be defeated with Alucard.

One last part thinks it's curious how I got Casull and Jackal, Alucard's guns, in the same ten pull. Talk about foreshadowing.

Anyways, let's stop here.

I still have thirty pulls, but I'm going to save them.

Let's organize my loot.

The ones that I'm assimilating.

Alucard and Arthur Leywin are priority number one.

The Nomu is useful too because of its power. Mosquito girl is a tough one...

No, not because horny.

Because I'm interested in whether or not this will place a limit on my body. The one that God put in all the beings of the OPM verse.

On one hand, it will restrict me and my body; on the other, breaking it should allow me to get as strong as Saitama, with enough time, of course.

Unfortunately, I don't think I would get it.

First, the assimilation process is vague in what I get from a character.

Second, it sounds stupid to get a restriction from the assimilation. Placed by someone from the original world, nonetheless.

Third, she's an artificial being. Made by the doctor who specifically wanted to rebel against god and his limiters.

And lastly, fourth, I don't think it's that easy.

If the gacha wanted me to be Saitama levels of strong, then I would have gotten Saitama.

As exemplified by the special gacha pool, if I should've been as strong as an Olympian god, then the gacha would have given me one.

But no, I get strong characters with simple powers or weak characters with strong powers.

Oliver Grayson and Alucard are perfect examples of this: Strong but simple and weak but complicated.

Of course, now I need to see whether the abilities of these characters work the same when taken out of their universes.

It would be dumb to think they act the same.

I think I've done a similar example, but imagine if the guy from Bleach, who can bring anything to life using his imagination, defeats Ares or Zeus.

Unimaginable (Pun intended).

Or Bruno Buccariati punching Heracles and cutting his entire arm off with a zip tie.

Once again, impossible.

Even if nerfed, those little interactions are interesting to ponder. It tickles my knowledge-hungry part of the brain.

Anyways, I'm sidetracked.

Alucard, Arthur Leywin, and Nomu are the ones I'm assimilating first.

Characters that I might assimilate but aren't of full priority are:

AM, Yoriichi, Eto, Erza, and the normal humans.

All are good characters that I will probably throw after I get done with the main ones, and I spend a lot of time awake researching magic.

Like Ai Hoshino, I'm just going to assimilate her because I like her star eyes, and that's it.

Then we have the items...

We got the Feather of Honor, the Blacklight virus test vial, IXA, the Draupnir spear, the God armor, Aphrodite's ambrosia, Athena's Owl, Sprintmaster, the Scythe claws, and Alucard's dual pistols.

Alright, let's begin the trials.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: Hey.

So we're approaching the end of this arc, as you might not know, I write these chapters all in tow, so I don't have any idea of anything you guys say. My bad.

Anyways, I liked what I did with the arc.

First time having the chance to write "Eponymous." Please, god, don't let it be wrong.

Having to come up with explanations for magic is hard.

The idea I have in mind is that certain things don't work because of the energy. I will probably explain certain powers this way. In a ¨it's my fic, so it's my nonsense¨ type.

I've mentioned Kamen Rider in this chapter, but I'm more of a Power Rangers guy. Just because of nostalgia. The effect Troy Burrows had on my young mind is undeniable. Super Megaforce was amazing, and Samurai was pretty cool.

Call me Basic for liking Super Megaforce. idk.

Omg I got to write "Eponymous" again holy shit I thought I would never get to use the word. I want to thank my parents, my friends, and my readers who supported me until this point.

Holy shit it's Alucard. Damn now I'm going to have to fast forward explanations for souls gahhh.

Lastly, that part about the superhero on the TV was Ultraman Ace, the translation is a little scuffed, but it still hits.
