Since none of us were connected to Raava and our past lives, our usual chi reserves, which have been bolstered thanks to our past lives, were unavailable, meaning we'd have to use our chi reserves, and seeing how Roku and Korra were a bit exhausted, they must've naturally had a smaller chi reserves than Kyoshi and I. "Are you fine, Kyoshi?" Glancing at Kyoshi, who holstered her fans, she offered me a slight nod while using a rag to wipe her sweat, causing me to wave my hand, summoning a small gust of cold wind, which the three seemed to appreciate.
"Ahh, that feels amazing!" Said Korra with a smile as she removed her shirt, prompting Roku and I to divert our gaze. "Do you not have some shame, Korra?" Asked Roku with a twitching expression. "Shame? I'm wearing a bra." Replied Korra with a tone of confusion while looking at Roku and I, though we both refused to look. "Kyoshi, do you think you could—N-Not you too!" Said Roku. Similar to Roku, I hoped Kyoshi could reprimand Korra for her 'loose' behavior, though when we looked at Kyoshi, she was removing the top portion of her outfit, causing him to blush slightly while I grabbed the bridge of my nose.
'This is ridiculous.' Heaving a deep sigh, Roku and I patiently waited with our backs facing Kyoshi and Korra while they cooled off; while waiting, I spotted Roku taking peeks at Kyoshi, causing my face to twitch since even though she was sitting with her eyes closed, she one-hundred percent knew what he was doing through seismic sense. "Roku, do you not have shame?" Using sound bending, only Roku could hear my voice, prompting him to snap his eyes closed while folding his hands. "Of course, I have shame, Aang." "Well, clearly not enough." Whispering to myself, I stopped the airflow when I sensed Fan near us, prompting Korra to moan, though she and Kyoshi wore their clothes, allowing Roku and I to gaze upon them without feeling uncomfortable.
"For being the oldest one here, you seem to lack tact." Side-glancing Kyoshi, who didn't bother entertaining my words, I approached Fan, standing in front of three. "Now Fan… Tell us what we want to know. Otherwise, we won't be so cooperative." Unlike the previous times, I was a bit more forceful, ensuring I got our point across, and his nervousness succeeded. "Y-Yes, please, right this way." Said Fan carefully as she gestured to the tree, where the spirits had been attacking, only for me to notice what seemed to be a door carved into the tree itself. Following Fan, we approached the door, where he knocked on it in a specific sequence before speaking in the same language he would use when opening passageways.
After a few moments, the door's outline glowed bluish-white before slowly opening, revealing a pathway leading deeper into the tree with whitish flames illuminating the path. "Welcome to Jathr. Um, r-right this way, please, Avatar's." Entering the Jathr, the four of us followed Fan down the hall before it eventually expanded into a large hall, where we spotted numerous other spirits with a similar appearance to Fan, as in that they were a hybrid of human and a beast. However, I noticed that most of them were faint, causing me to frown. Spirits don't have physical bodies like humans or beasts; instead, their bodies are formed of energy, which is why killing them is nearly impossible, as they'll just reform after a certain amount of time.
Yet, unlike humans, spirits can kill spirits by devouring their essence, and the only explanation as to why the spirit's bodies are faint is because they've lost their essence; as for how, my guess would be the group of spirits the four of us had just fought off. As we continued walking through the large hall, we came to a large set of double doors guarded by two spirits, and just like previously, Fan spoke within a language none of us knew before the two spirits opened the doors, allowing us to enter. Once the door closed, we silently entered the dark room, only stopping once Fan stopped. "I've brought the Avatars." Said Fan softly as he bowed towards the darkness, only for a soft voice to respond.
"Thank you, Fan-Shu." Following the words of the voice, the darkness was slowly dissipated by bluish light emitted from leaves, allowing us to view the whole room, causing me to widen my eyes. At the center of the room, against the wall, was a fully human spirit sitting down, surrounding my small tree roots that jutted out from the wall and dug into her body. "That looks painful." Muttered Korra quietly, and while I agreed with her, it wasn't exactly something she should've commented on.
"Hello, Avatars, I'm the Keeper of Jathr; I would like to thank you for accepting our cry for help." She said with a lovely smile while bowing her head, prompting Fan to do the same, though before Roku, Korra, or Kyoshi opened their mouth, I did so instead as I was the only person I could trust to keep things respectful. "Of course, though, forgive my rudeness, but we'd like to know precisely why you need our help." "Also, do you have a name other than Keeper of Jathr? That's a long name." Just as I finished speaking, Korra opened her mouth, speaking casually as if the woman before us was a friend, causing me to close my eyes and sigh.
'Please don't get offended; I don't wish to remain trapped here for the rest of my life.' Thankfully, it seemed she didn't take any offense. "I understand, Avatar Aang… You may call me as you please, Avatar Korra." "Alright, Jathr, it is then." Said Korra with a slight smile as she snapped her finger while pointing at Jathr, causing everyone, except for the spirit in question, to look blankly at Korra.
"Allow me to start from the beginning… We currently reside in a place beyond time, dissociated from the spirit and physical world, or any world for that matter… That is how four Avatars from different times can exist at once." Said Jathr lightly as she gazed between the four of us, though except for me, the three others were a bit lost, which I couldn't blame them; I would be too if I didn't know of the multiverse theory. "About that, Jathr, could you start by explaining that?" Asked Roku softly with furrowed brows, his words causing Jathr to nod while four roots suddenly emerged from the wall.
"Yes, of course, Avatar Roku… Think of these four roots as your own individual world, separate from the others." Said Jathr while a flower blossomed on each root in different spots, which I assumed represented our specific time period. "Each flower represents your current time periods, with Avatar Korra at the end and Avatar Kyoshi at the beginning… Now imagine this large flower is where we currently are, completely separated from everything else." Said Jathr as a large, bluish flower blossomed to the far left. "I had Fan-Shu create temporary gateways that would connect to each flower on the roots, allowing you four to come here." Although Jathr did a splendid job explaining, it was still a bit hard for them to comprehend the existence of multiple worlds.
"Okay, I think I get it, but if that's so, how come Kyoshi never mentioned such a thing to me? You would tell me if something like this occurred, right?" Asked Roku with a frown as he stroked his beard before shifting his gaze to Kyoshi, who raised an eyebrow. "I would not hide it." Replied Kyoshi, prompting her and Roku to gaze back at Jathr, who seemed a bit troubled.
"Roku, I think the problem lies in the fact that you believe only one world exists. Korra and I were speaking about this earlier, but I've had different experiences than the Aang she knows… Tell me, Roku, did you marry Ta Min?" Gazing at Roku, who furrowed his brows before looking at me in confusion. "Ta Min? Who might that be?" "What about you, Kyoshi? Did you fall in love with Ragni? Did you kill Chin the Conqueror?" Kyoshi seemed even more confused than Roku at my questions. "Ragni? I married Yun, as for Chin the Conqueror, I was able to talk him into surrendering." Kyoshi replied with furrowed brows, only for her words to cause Roku to frown.
"Wait, that's not right. Kyoshi remained unmarried and unified the four nations into a single Empire." Said Roku as he skeptically gazed at Kyoshi, who looked at him in confusion, only for Korra to share her own knowledge. "That's also wrong, the Kyoshi I knew went on to become the model… She also had 23 kids with 23 different men." Remarked Korra lightly, her words causing the three of us to gaze at her in silence. "What?"
"Anyway, I'm sure you three understand now. Our worlds that we came from are different than each other; we're not just from different times in the same world, but from different worlds during different times." Looking between the three of them, I waited, hoping for them to have understood, only to grab my face when Korra raised her hand.
