Hades continued to stare blankly at the wall, unresponsive to her presence and words. Panic began to set in, time was running out, and she needed to snap him out of his trance before she lost her own soul too.
With her hands cupping his face, she turned his head toward hers, his eyes on her even though they weren't truly seeing her. She brushed her thumb gently over his skin, which felt cold to her touch. "Please, Hades, you need to wake up. I don't have much time here; I'll be leaving soon. I need you to snap out of it so we can return to Valerie, to Viktor and Lucian… to our home."
Lilith swallowed hard. "Let's get married as soon as possible. We'll start our own little family too, and we'll live happily ever after." She could feel her body growing hot, her heartbeat rapidly increasing.
Dear gods, she needed to leave now. But she wasn't going to leave Hades behind. She would pull him out, even if it cost her life. He was worth dying for.
