The combat ranking battles began.
Several low ranked students were gruesomely crushed and killed for biting more than they could chew.
Others displayed shocking might, killing and replacing higher ranked students, securing promising mentors for themselves.
As for the students sitting at the highest rankings, they were simply untouchable. No one even dared to challenge them.
One strange thing was, there were some lower ranked students no one dared to challenge.
It was not because they were too strong. From the whispers Kailen heard amongst the students and even the discussions of the mentors, it was because they were deeply connected to some of the students sitting at the highest rankings. Anyone with a brain and the mindset of survival knew that challenging one would be akin to challenging the authority of these hegemon ranked students. And that would mean a set up for suicide.
