Chapter 35 - The Next Move

The school doors creaked as they swung open.

The sky stretched out above them, a muted blue tinged with streaks of pink, the sun having barely begun its climb over the horizon. Its pale light spilled lazily over the broken streets and shattered windows, catching on jagged glass and turning it gold for a moment before fading into the gray of everything around it.

Jin stepped out first, his fingers flexing unconsciously at his side, feeling the strange absence of a weapon in his hand for the first time in what felt like weeks.

Behind him, the others followed one by one.

Joon stretched his arms up over his head until his spine cracked like a string of firecrackers going off. "Alright. Let's go get some points."

Echo bounced on the balls of his feet, shadowboxing at the empty air in front of him. "I feel weirdly excited for this. It's like we're going on a field trip, except with way more violence involved."
