Yuna's ribs hurt every time she breathed.
She limped around the side of the church, one hand pressed against the stone wall to keep herself steady. Her knuckles were split open and throbbing. Her lip had swollen up so much that she could see the edge of it when she looked down. Every step sent a sharp little stab through her side, right where the old man had hit her the third time.
She didn't care. She was going back inside.
Jin was in there, alone, with the barefoot man. She'd heard big crashes through the walls the whole time she was fighting in the garden, stone breaking and wood splintering. Every one of them had made her want to stop and run back, and she hadn't been able to, because the old man kept trying to grab her.
Now, finally, she could.
She came around the corner to the front steps just as a door glowed open in the stone beside them.
Yerin stepped out of it and nearly walked straight into her.
