Jin woke up to sunlight and the smell of something frying.
For a few seconds he didn't know where he was. Then he saw the painted folding screen in the corner, the low wooden table, his two swords lying across it, and the wide window full of blue sky and river. He lay there a little longer than he needed to, just because the bed was that good.
Someone knocked on his door.
"Jin." It was Kyung-min. "There's breakfast downstairs. Someone left it for us. You have about two minutes before Hyunwoo eats yours."
"I heard that," Hyunwoo's voice said from further down the hall.
Jin laughed and got up.
Breakfast was waiting for them on a long table in what used to be the hotel's lobby. Rice, soup, grilled mackerel, a dozen little side dishes in small bowls, and a pot of barley tea. The young man in dark clothes from the night before stood by the stairs and bowed when they came down. When Jin thanked him, he just bowed again and said it came with the rooms.
