The pen stopped above the page.
For a moment, the Diamond didn't move at all. He just looked at Jin across the desk, the smile still on his face but frozen there, like someone who had just heard a joke and wasn't sure yet if it was one.
"Hodini," he said.
"That's what he calls himself," Jin said. "His real name is Jang Ho-seok."
The Diamond set the pen down slowly. Then he leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh through his nose, and the smile slipped into something more tired.
"Well," he said. "That complicates things."
"Why?"
The Diamond didn't answer right away. He closed the ledger, carefully, and laid both ringed hands flat on top of it. Then he stood up and walked over to the shelf. He picked up the bottle again, looked at it, and put it back without pouring anything.
"You know the boss," he said, with his back to Jin. It wasn't really a question.
Jin frowned. "The boss?"
