Chapter 30 - Inherited Curse

"Veygra! Please bring me Burning Fang."

Veygra brought out a box that looked like it had chunks of burnt wood on the sides.

"Thank you, Veygra. Now, can you please go ensure that we will not be disturbed?"

Vegra bowed and left the room.

"Now then, Rayleigh, do you know what element Agent has an affinity for?"

Rayleigh had no idea what to say.

"What do you mean by element? I thought that null entities used energies like me and Alex."

Bram looked at Uldess with a face of satisfaction.

"I thought Uldess would have told you how null entities worked."

Uldess looked like he could kill Bram. Bram continued.

"Null entities don't use energy like us; they are unable to because their original concept was destroyed and then was rebuilt."

"Ok, but how can I tell what element Agent has an affinity for?"

"Well, can you remember what you were feeling when you created him?"

Rayleigh didn't need to even think about it.

"I was feeling hatred and anger."

Bram's face lit up, and Rayleigh could see his fangs; they were a bit longer than normal teeth.

"That is perfect, he is a perfect match for the Burning Fang. His affinity is fire."

Rayleigh was confused at how Bram figured it out.

"How did you realize what his element was?"

"It's simple. You know how some people associate elements with emotions? Like hatred with fire, sadness with water, and so on. When you or your father makes a new null entity, it will take the emotion you are currently feeling and make the element counterpart its chosen affinity if you don't give it an element."

Rayleigh never realized that; he also didn't know why Uldess didn't mention this when he was making Agent.

"So why is it a good thing that his element is fire?"

"Well, if you couldn't guess, Burning Fang uses fire, so if someone who can use fire uses it, it will unleash all its power with ease."

Bram opened the box and pulled out a karambit. The karambit was smoking slightly, and the blade looked like it was made out of fire that had been crystallized. The handle looked like it was made of burning coals. Rayleigh could feel the heat from where he was standing.

"Ok, are you ready?"

Rayleigh nodded. The way Bram was talking, it was like Agent could explode once he grabbed it. Bram handed Burning Fang to Agent. Rayleigh stepped back and waited, but nothing happened.

"Is something supposed to happen?"

Bram turned around.

"No. Were you expecting an explosion?"

Rayleigh looked at Bram in disbelief.

"By the way you were acting, I thought so!"

"Ignore him, Rayleigh. This is what he does."

Uldess walked over and examined Rayleigh and then sighed.

"Looks like the curse wasn't passed on to you. That is a relief."

Uldess turned around to face Bram.

"Now then, shall we go and finish getting ready for what's to come?"

"Hold on Uldess. Remember, Rayleigh said he also wanted a cursed weapon. So, Rayleigh, you said you already know which one you want?"

Rayleigh nodded.

"Ok, so which one do you want?"

"The Alucard."
