As the pale silver dragon let out its solemn roar in the Spirit World, Giratina—the master of the Reverse World—suddenly raised its head.
It had been watching Unova through the "mirror" embedded in Hikaru, much like tuning in to a television show. Every day brought a new surprise. Even its companions in the Reverse World had been watching the scene unfold.
And now—a projection of that shiny silver dragon appeared across the sky of the Reverse World!
"Poniyo? (Another Giratina?)"
"Hass! (A silvery one… looks even stronger than Giratina!)"
"Gaaaargh!" Giratina growled in irritation, staring hard at the phantom dragon invading its realm.
Even though that being hadn't entered its domain, one thing was clear—it had noticed Giratina's chosen human.
But there was a problem.
That thing… claimed to be the ruler of the Spirit World?!
Even if it was a different Spirit World—no, wait. It couldn't jump to conclusions.
The Spirit World was an enigmatic realm. Was there one shared across multiple realities, or did each timeline have its own Spirit World?
Only Arceus could answer that question.
And speaking of which—wasn't that dragon supposed to be a support pillar for its realm, like Giratina? What was this, divine privilege of beings from other universes?!
Still, according to Azelf, that being wasn't supposed to be able to enter this world yet.
Until the "Time Machine" was fully charged, distorted reality couldn't descend upon this world. But Giratina couldn't shake the feeling that the other version of itself might find another way across. The sense of unease left it tense.
[Are you nervous?]
Suddenly, the majestic silver dragon's voice echoed into the Reverse World, startling every Pokémon there—especially Giratina. Despite not physically being present, the dragon had transmitted its will across dimensions.
[Because you possess a soul. Souls are eternal. They are the bridge between life and death, between ideals and truth. Through them, dialogue across time and space is possible.]
[Giratina, my other self, don't forget—you've done the same before.]
[Long ago, your Reverse World was also seen by ancient people as a place that connected life and death.]
[Return Cave… the retreat of Yomi itself, is a symbol of that power.]
The silver dragon let out a soft chuckle.
Giratina floated upward and transmitted its reply.
"Being who crossed time and space... you're watching my chosen one. This isn't your place. You look like my reflection—only in a different color."
[We exist in all universes and all timelines. We oversee the infinite worlds created by the gods.]
The silver-blue dragon replied patiently:
[The domain I govern is different from yours. I am drawn to the fiery power of justice that burns within awakened souls. Countless emotions condensed into energy—that is the source of my life.]
[This powerful force, transcending life and death, is what I long to witness. And your chosen one has the ability to awaken souls.]
[Let us bear witness to this battle together. Let us bring joy to the restless spirits who no longer have a place to return to.]
"What… what was that just now?"
"That silvery-blue dragon…"
Not only Hikaru, but everyone present had heard that roar—seen the phantom of the silver dragon. The sound resonated straight into their souls.
N clutched his head. That image wasn't just visual—it was etched into his spirit itself. But it didn't match any of the legendary dragons he knew.
No.
There were… too many dragons in Unova's myths!
"Another legendary dragon?! Just how many dragons are watching this world!?"
N's voice trembled. He couldn't even articulate how he felt—was it awe? Fear? Excitement? Confusion?
In some unseen realm, the dragons of legend had never stopped watching this world. If the dragons of Unova's own founding myth were also watching him...
"That was Giratina," Hikaru's voice grounded N. "The legendary dragon from Sinnoh. But not the one from our world. It's from another universe. It seems to govern part of the Spirit World—at least, some domain of it."
Sinnoh legends…
Why would a dragon from another region appear here in Unova?
And another universe? What did that mean?
N asked quietly, "You really are mysterious… and you seem to know so much about this world. Lord Hikaru—where are you from?"
Hikaru replied calmly: "Jindou. A place whose history has already come to an end."
Jindou…? N had never heard of it. If it had been Johto or Kanto, he might've recognized it.
A place erased from history... Was it truly gone?
N didn't understand. But his heart surged.
The desire to battle flared. The spirits of the Celestial Tower were watching him!
Shunned since childhood, he had always lived among Pokémon. Some called him a heartless monster; others claimed he was a chosen king or hero.
He'd been burdened with many identities by others—but at this moment, he had only one.
A temporary Pokémon Trainer.
Yes—that was it.
A role he once despised. Yet now, it was a role that every soul in the tower accepted and celebrated.
"I won't disappoint you… Legendary dragons are watching us too!"
"Whether it's Zekrom, Reshiram, Giratina, or… whoever else!"
"This is my first real battle… as a Trainer!"
N could hear the voices of his Pokémon—those who had joined him after he asked for help. They were calling out in unison with the spirits!
Battle freely. Don't overthink it. Forget duties and obligations. Just fight—for the joy of these spirits!
"If I'm truly worthy of being a hero, I won't need to find the dragons. They'll come to find me!"
"Let's go, my friends!"
N didn't know how to describe his feelings now—but if there was one word—
It was joy.
"What are the battle rules?" Skyla asked from the sidelines.
N, already high on momentum, waved her off. "Full 6-on-6, no restrictions!"
"No need for a referee! The moment a Pokémon is defeated, they retreat! Agreed?!"
Though it sounded like a question, N had already thrown his Poké Ball and assumed a battle stance.
For the first time ever, he displayed a burning desire to battle.
And the first Pokémon he sent out—
Zoroark, his most loyal partner.
Hikaru, meanwhile, heard a new resonance—
An echo from the Dream World, transmitted through the C Device. Words began to appear, transcribed by Rotom.
The two Dragon Stones were watching too!
Dark Stone:
[As long as we are with Pokémon, humans can move toward an unknown future!]
Light Stone:
[As long as we are with humans, Pokémon can realize their true strength!]
Both Stones:
[Your ideals and truth… are here!]
Ah… Those were the words the twin dragons said to N two years from now—and yet, they arrived early.
"Well… they're right. Gotta hand it to the philosophical dragons."
"Alright. My turn now!"
