The crowd stared at the crippled figure on the ground, unable to suppress their shock.
They could hardly believe it—how could someone as powerful as Lin Fan end up in such a state?
Just how strong was the second-floor boss?
Their gazes turned toward the towering nine-headed hydra at the front, and many swallowed hard as fear took root in their hearts.
If even Lin Fan had been beaten to this extent, wouldn't they be walking straight to their deaths if they got any closer?
Unease spread among them. They gripped their stone swords tightly, ready to flee at any moment.
If the hydra went berserk, they would have no chance of survival.
But at that moment, the hydra had no interest in them.
The blood on Li Cheng's body carried Lin Fan's essence, infused with the power of the Nine Nether buff. The effect continued to drive the monsters into a frenzy.
The hydra's eyes glowed a deep crimson as it locked onto Li Cheng. Its breaths came ragged and hoarse, filled with hunger and anticipation.
Lying on the ground, Li Cheng could clearly sense the presence of countless monsters behind him.
Yet, he had no strength left to escape.
He lay there helplessly, tears rolling down his cheeks.
He wanted to struggle, to crawl away from this nightmare, but his broken body refused to move.
Fear consumed him, and his eyes were filled with utter despair.
Someone… someone save me…
At this point, Li Cheng was no longer afraid of death.
In fact, he wished someone would just end him quickly with a single strike.
The fear of waiting for death was far worse than death itself.
A horde of monsters surged forward, completely engulfing him.
His vision blurred, his mind slipping into unconsciousness.
Then, he felt it—his limbs being torn apart, shredded by countless zombie-like creatures.
Pain spread through his entire body, yet his mind remained agonizingly awake, unable to escape the suffering.
Li Cheng writhed in torment, desperately wishing for death.
Why? Why am I still alive?
Why won't I just die?
Why…?
His thoughts spiraled in endless screams.
He could feel the monsters feasting on his flesh.
Suddenly, a golden figure burst into the horde.
With one hand, she grabbed Li Cheng's broken body and hurled him through the air—straight toward the nine-headed hydra!
Li Cheng's consciousness was barely hanging on.
He felt his body soaring through the air.
He struggled to open his eyes, desperate to see what was happening.
The moment his vision cleared, he saw his own mangled body hurtling toward the massive hydra.
Fear overwhelmed him.
A bloodcurdling scream erupted from his throat.
But in the next second, the hydra caught him effortlessly in its jaws.
The scent of Li Cheng's blood excited the beast.
It clenched its prey firmly, a look of insatiable hunger flashing in its many eyes.
Then, with immense satisfaction, the hydra began to chew.
Li Cheng's already broken body was utterly crushed between its fangs.
His severed limbs and shattered bones turned to pulp in an instant.
A living, breathing person—reduced to nothing but a pile of mangled flesh inside the hydra's mouth.
"Hiss—!"
The spectators gasped in horror.
None of them had expected that crippled man to be eaten alive by the hydra.
Such a gruesome death sent shivers down their spines.
Many were still in shock, unable to process what they had just witnessed.
Some even vomited at the sight of the hydra chewing through human flesh.
"Lin Fan… really died like that…?"
"Oh my god, I'm losing my mind! How did this happen? If Lin Fan is dead, what are we supposed to do?"
"We need to get out of the Nine-Story Monster Tower now! If even Lin Fan couldn't survive, there's no way we'll make it out alive!"
"No way! Is that really Lin Fan? How could he possibly lose to these small monsters?"
"Did any of you even get a good look? How can you be sure it's him?"
"Who else but Lin Fan could attract that many monsters like that?"
"Well, losing to small monsters makes sense if both your arms are gone. He had no way to fight back."
"This is terrifying..."
A group of players stood at the stairway, chattering anxiously.
After all, Lin Fan was the strongest person on Blue Star. If even he had perished in the Nine-Story Monster Tower, there was no reason for them to stay here any longer.
Just as they were still discussing, Lin Fan stepped forward, gripping his enchanted iron sword.
He moved as if walking on air, stepping over the heads of countless zombies, his entire body engulfed in a dark purple flame.
Then, with unstoppable momentum, he lunged toward the nine-headed hydra!
"Holy shit! That's Lin Fan!"
"What the hell?! He's still alive?!"
"I told you! The one who just died wasn't him!"
"Then who the hell was it?"
"Who knows, but damn, that guy died horribly."
"Are you blind? That was Li Cheng, the Federation Research Division Director!"
"Li Cheng, the one who lost an arm on the first floor to Lilian, don't you guys remember?"
"Shit— you're right! I remember now!"
"Damn, what a brutal death! The Federation Research Division Director just got devoured. That's going to be major news."
"What's the big deal? He was killed by monsters in the Nine-Story Monster Tower. Dying in a place like this is nothing unusual."
While everyone was still gossiping about Li Cheng's death, Lin Fan was already charging at the hydra, his iron sword at the ready.
His speed was beyond comprehension, like a phantom appearing above the hydra's heads in an instant.
The hydra, having just finished its gruesome meal, immediately noticed Lin Fan's presence.
At first, it didn't care about him.
But in the next second, Lin Fan unleashed a surge of Nine Nether energy, causing the hydra's eyes to gleam with excitement!
The lingering taste of Nine Nether blood still lingered in its mind.
If it could devour more, it would be the ultimate feast!
Excited, the hydra swayed its tail, and its nine heads lunged at Lin Fan, attacking with relentless ferocity.
Lin Fan dodged at lightning speed, so fast that no one could even track his movements.
He continued baiting the hydra, searching for the perfect opportunity to land a fatal strike.
But the hydra wasn't a simple foe—it wasn't going to give Lin Fan an easy chance to kill it.
After a few rounds of exchanging blows, Lin Fan quickly realized that the hydra was stronger than the Serpent Lady he had previously faced.
But still—
To him, it was just another practice dummy.
The hydra's attacks became fiercer.
Lin Fan simply smirked.
He raised his iron sword and slashed his palm open.
Blood trickled down, dripping onto the surrounding zombies.
The hydra hesitated for a split second, its gaze filled with hunger.
Then, unable to resist the temptation, it suddenly turned and lunged at the nearby monsters instead!
Now's the time!
Seizing the opportunity, Lin Fan gripped his iron sword and slashed down with unstoppable force, aiming directly at the central head of the hydra!
"Oh my god, what is Lin Fan trying to do?!"
"If he rushes into the middle of the hydra's heads, he'll be ripped apart!"
"Is he trying to one-shot the hydra?!"
"No way! That's impossible!"
