Ajax(POV)
For the longest time in my life I have a plan to kill my father. My plan wasn't just some mediocre level plan that I read in some 'How to kill your obnoxious Father who wants to leave you with nothing in your name' book: like poisoning him slowly, riding in the deep dark forest and killing him there and leave his body to be eaten by the wolves or drowning him in his old dirty bath water. Well yes, they do sound good and all but as I said before they are just mediocre level . Now my plans involve a bit of mind games, then a splash of trickery and for the main course a suicide note leaving everything to me and my idiotic elder brother with absolutely nothing. Then I will throw my beautiful empty minded brother in the mental asylum and let him rot there. Oh, I did also had a plan on making him go insane. It wouldn't take much to make him go insane, I mean the man is empty-hearded already so...
All my years of planning and preparation making sure that everyone who knew my father and hated him would see his down fall. I wanted her to see his down fall but we can't have everything.
"What the hell do you mean by that Ajax?" Seraphina said in a shock tone.
Her eyes are so beautiful and the way they look every time went too much emotions is shown. Just so gut wrenchingly beautiful and the fire behind them is just amazing. You can truly see our mother in her eyes: Something that I never thought I would see given what I used to remember of our Mother and the fact that father kept us separated at all times so I never got to see my flame.
" You heard what I said little Sister, I will not say it again and no, I did not kill him even though I wanted to but unfortunately someone else beat me to it." I said as I went back to my dinner. As I was cutting the crispy roast beef a voice came from the far end of the table I didn't recognise.
"Then how did he become no more?" The man asked in his deep voice and is that irritation in his voice that I hear. I looked up to see the man whom decided to dig a hole for himself and f@#k.
"Brandon, just in case you've forgotten , I know you're the kind of person who tends to forget peoples faces or should I say 'don't take notice of useless things.'" he said as he smiled a joyless smile. Well he is not wrong about what he said I don't tend to remember people faces not cause I want to but some people are just not as interesting to be remembered but him I do remember him. My little flame knight and I hate the arrogant prick.
"I do remember you Sir Brandon Tilwind Smith." I smile back "And to answer your questions my father got himself involved with a bunch of arrogant empty minded pricks who thought they could steal money from the crown but they got caught he was Investigated, tried and executed for his crimes going against the crown and stealing from the crown. Apparently the end goal was to overthrow the Emperor and take the land for the nobles."
"And what about elder brother what happened to him?" She asked.
"He was also part of the ridiculous empty minded revolutionary war" I said as I rolled my eyes. "But since they couldn't find enough evidence to execute him like Father he was stripped from his title and everything that Father and him had went to me and since you are a Duchess here you get part of Father's wealth well actually Mother wealth more than Father." I finished off.
"Father was part of that. What the hell was he thinking?" She said.
" I'm surprised at your reaction i thought you would have been more upset that someone killed him and you were not there to witness the events or joyful that he got what was coming to him especially what he put you through when you were young." I said as put my fork and knife down. I lean back to my chair observing her closely and see that really she doesn't feel anything. It's like she know something like this was going to happen.
"So is brother exiled?" She ask by passing my statement with no care.
"Yes… how did you know" I narrowed my eyes.
" It's just the logical thing that would happen since he didn't get executed and slavery is abolished in the capital so." She said looking down on her plate like the answers of the universe are there.
"So is that why you came to RavenCrest? To tell me about Father and brothers crime or did you come here to rub it in that you are now the new Count?"
"Yes,yes and yes but as I said, before all the questions about our idiotic fathers friend circle revolutionist I came here to tell you that you must return to the capital it is not by my orders but the Emperor himself. He is the one who sent me here to come and collect you and I cannot leave Raven Crest without you or I will face the same fate as Father."
"But why does he want to go back to the Capital? It doesn't make sense I have nothing there."
"Well not nothing little flame you still have me." I smiled a bright smile at her. She glared back at me.
"Well look little flame, I don't know exactly why he wants you back in the capital but what I do know is that he knows that you do not have an illness from your travels and from what I could gather in court is that he has been planning on bringing you back to the capital for 2 years now. At first I didn't know how but then father's investigation happened then after everything he called me and here I am." I said.
And yet as I say it, it still doesn't add up. Why does he want my sister? it was clear in the investigation that she was not part of fathers schemes and that the time it took place she had been living in Raven for years already also Seraphina was not well know in the Society especially in the Emperor circle. I get that he would have found out about her during the investigation but the way he spoke about her when I was in his presence made it seem like he had known her for really long time and that he was somehow longing to see her again.
I need to keep Seraphina safe. Before I didn't look after her when she was younger also allowing Father and brother to mistreat her to the point that she had to leave home at the young age of 14 years I can't allow that to happen again, I can't let her run from me again.No. I let her to go back then cause I knew that it was safer for her and I was not strong enough but I will not let it happen again. Things have changed . She will not run from me I will kill anyone who will harm my little flame especially that mad Emperor, there is no telling what he will do to her.
