Chapter 7 - Determination

Monarc locked himself in his office, his eyes fixed on the monitor. The room was completely dark, with dim light from the screen covering the corner space. Bent over, Monarc's stare was intense. Why? Cause his objective was to track any movement of 000.

He had very little to eat because he hadn't touched his lunch right beside him. However, it didn't matter whether he ate or not; the fact that his body muscles were tense with every second could not be ignored. He stared for at least twenty more minutes until he reached his limit. His eyes started to get blurry, and tears were pouring out from his eyelids. He gently massaged his head until he got a glimpse of what he thought would never end.

At a sudden speed, he leaned closer to the monitor screen, zooming in on a certain area.

Zooming more until he finally saw what he had been wanting for so long. A girl with glasses, having one braid, wearing a black vest, and straight black pants.

The description matched perfectly with what Cora had explained to the H.Q.

With a cruel smile on his face, Monarc reached his phone and quickly contacted Hector about his upcoming promotion.

"Holy shit. It's her alright", said Hector as he stood with the rest of his colleagues. Most of them were surprised by what was happening, but a few kept calm, knowing what kind of situation was occurring.

One of them was Kalvec. His blond hair was a mess since he ran seven floors about the upcoming news of how Monarc got a short video of what he thought of 000.

The video was only caught for about ten seconds, which was not enough. 'How the hell are we supposed to find her with this?', Kalvec thought as his eyes turned towards Hector as he replayed the video again and again.

The videotape only showed Orette getting on a red bus. The license plate was not quite visible and blurred. Not much could be identified, nor observed.

"It's a dead end." Said one of the officers.

"No shit, I thought we might have found something". Another continued after him.

"I'm not wasting my time with this load of crap".

Soon, people began to murmur more and more, and they gradually left the monitor room one by one. Some say it is a waste of time, while others suggest that maybe this should be handled by the third generation.

'The third generation! If only they were willing to help'. Thought Kalvec as he glared at his colleagues.

His motto was very clear from the start that he despised the third generation with all his might. The point they suddenly showed in front of their doorstep and ordered them to watch some strange kids was unacceptable for him; no, he found it humiliating.

"I have had enough of this," Kalvec murmured and rushed straight to Hector to call off this mission once and for all, when all of a sudden, someone yelled from behind.

"IT'S HER, IT'S REALLY HER. 000 HAS BEEN SPOTTED, she_", the officer took time to catch his breath, "She is spotted on our tracked location".

Everyone stayed silent. Not a moment to spare, Hector ran like a wolf. He couldn't believe what he heard. 'What the hell is going on?'. He thought and slammed the door open to find a crowd of officers turned their heads up to the big screen.

'It's her, it's really her. '

There she was, 000.

"Remind me again why we are not using my portals?" Kace asked as he typed nonstop.

Orette, in front of him, was counting the number of guards Hector had placed to watch a special someone. "Cause right now we are like an unstable nuclei, it could be pretty dangerous to use our abilities right now. Who knows what could happen? Vomiting, headaches, fever, hysterics, or even pregnancy".

"I'm sorry, but what?", Kace responded. He stopped typing and stared blankly at Orette, who stretched her thin arms to relieve them.

"Well off I go", she turned back to Kace, and fell from the edge of the building; her back facing the ground. Even at a certain distance, Orette landed perfectly on her two feet, like a cat.

She immediately made pace, passing through the unit soldiers. Due to her small physique, she was able to hide perfectly without being sensed. Very quickly, she made her way to one of the unit's cars.

Unit 13 was busy watching the front lines of the not-so-lively building. After the humiliation they suffered by capturing the wrong target, they were determined to catch Orette by any means necessary.

But was too much determination helpful for them? Someone should tell them that their number one target smuggled her way into their car. Needless to say, it was already too late. Unit 13 were too late to realise that their car's microphone was on and _.

"What's up, party people!".

Orette took over.

She stood over the car as if it were some stage. Her voice was heard by dozens of units, officers, and trained soldiers. They wasted not a second and aimed their guns at her.

"Now, now. Let's not get too excited, I'm just loosening up a bit. You know, getting to know you people... like that guy".

She pointed her finger at a particular person, who was one of the members of unit 13, the one who tried to aim a bullet during the car chase. He showed serious anger, and he was so close to pulling his trigger, but couldn't.

"Dang, that's some face you got there. Anyway, allow me to introduce myself. My name is by what you all know me by is 000, and I just want to say that things are going to become a problem for you people. You may not know this, but as of today, I have become an endangered species. So be afraid".

She says as she raises her fist. Everyone remained silent as they were trying to understand what this girl was saying, and moments later, it became embarrassing.

"Ahem!".

Orette clears her throat to get everyone's attention.

"So as I was saying, things might turn out for the worst, so please cooperate or experience something you wish you would never in your entire life".

That strong, innocent voice was enough to make the whole crowd laugh; they were laughing nonstop. Like some hit comedy. But the biggest comedy was that Orette started to laugh with them.

"Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ah, god that was good. I mean if I were in your shoes, I would have laughed till my last breath. Ha, but oh well... you guys asked for it".

She removed the microphone and gave them a big smile. From her pocket, she took out a small timer she borrowed from Kace and started to note the time.

00:00:03

00:00:02

"Perfect."

She jumped back from the car and flipped to make a safe landing. (00:00:01)

At 00:00:00, the car exploded, leaving fire, ash, and smoke, and caught everyone's attention. The shock stayed inside them for a second, but was broken when one of the unit officers told them to charge.

The soldiers left their positions and ran after Orette as if she were some criminal. Maybe determination would win in this case, or maybe there was more than meets the eye in this girl.

Whatever the case was, the soldiers had one thing clear. 000 was dangerous.
