Chapter 30 - cap 30:reflections in darkness

** Chapter 30: Reflections in Darkness **

The night fell on the village of the renegados, bringing himself to a silence that looked to amplify the thoughts of Liang Feng. He was sitting on the roof of one of the huts, looking at the stars that shone above the mountains. The day was long-full of meetings, preparations and strategies but now, alone, he finally had a moment to breathe.

And, with quietude, came the memories.

He closed his eyes, feeling the weight of the past pushing his chest. The images of his previous life on the ground emerged in his mind as flashes of a distant dream. The family he had lost in a brutal accident. The friends who betrayed him, stealing everything he had. The woman who loved her, who had abandoned him when he needed most. And, finally, the back of the back, given a thief on a dark street, which ended his life of pain and loneliness.

"Why?" He whispered him to the emptiness, his voice almost inaudible.

He did not expect an answer, but the words echoed in his mind, mixing the sound of the wind that passed through the trees. Liang Feng knew that his reincarnation had not been an accident. There was a purpose behind this, something greater that he could still understand it completely.

And then, I was there.

His wife-a strong, smart and mysterious woman. She had become his allied, her confidant, and perhaps something else. But now, with the secrets she had begun to reveal, Liang Feng felt that he knew her.

"I'm not who you think I am," she had said, her voice charged from a sadness that he could not decipher.

That phrase hammering in his mind, as a melody he could not forget. What was she hiding? And why did he feel that when I discovered the truth, nothing else would be the same?

Liang Feng looked at his hands, feeling the power of the IQ flow smoothly through them. He had become stronger, but power was not enough to fill out the emptiness that he still felt.

"I can not change the past," he murmured to himself, as if he were trying to convince his own soul. "" But I can choose what to do with the present. "

He thought of the village, in the people who had trusted him and in Mei Lin, who had always been to his side, even when he did not deserve. They were their new family-a family that he swore protect, did not care the cost.

"I will not fail this time," he said, his firm voice, but loaded of emotion.

Suddenly, he heard soft steps behind him. Turning, he saw Mei Lin climbing on the roof, his spiritual fan in his hand and a quiet expression on his face.

"I could not sleep?" She asked, sitting next to him.

Liang Feng looked at her, feeling a wave of gratitude, and at the same time a doubt.

"I was thinking ... about many things."

Mei Lin waved her head, as she understood perfectly.

"" The past still haunts you, is not it? "

He hesitated, but ended up agreeing.

"Yes. But it's not just that. It's ... you're there that something you're not telling me, and I do not know how to deal with it."

Mei Lin looked at his stars, her serious expression.

"" I know it's hard for you to trust me completely. And I understand. But please, know that everything I do is to protect you and the village. "

Liang Feng felt a node if he forming his throat.

"" I want to trust you, Mei Lin. But it's hard when I feel there's a wall between us. "

She looked at him, her eyes shining with a soft light.

"This wall is not to pour you away." It's to protect you. When the right time arrives, I'll tell you everything. But, then, I need you to trust me. "

Liang Feng took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of frustration and relief. He knew that Mei Lin was not lying, but he also knew she was holding something important.

"" Well, I'll trust you. But, please do not get away from me. "

Mei Lin smiled, but this time there was a shadow of sadness in his eyes.

"" I would never miss you from, Liang Feng. You're ... more important to me than you imagine. "

They were silent for a moment, watching the stars together. Liang Feng felt a new determination to burn inside him. He knew that the way forward would be difficult, but he also knew he was no longer alone.

"We'll face this together," he said, looking at Mei Lin.

She waved her head, her expression determined.

- "Together."
