Artifacts were one of the cornerstones of the cultivation world, divided into a hierarchy that determined not just their strength but also their rarity.
From Rank 1 to Rank 6, artifacts were considered ordinary—even if they were refined with extraordinary materials, they still belonged to the mortal spectrum.
However, anything beyond that transcended the mortal scale and stepped into the realm of Heavenly Artifacts. These were usually equivalent to Rank 7 or Rank 8 artifacts, but cultivators rarely used the concept of ranks to describe them.
Instead, they were separated into three broad classifications depending on their effects and utility: Inferior Heavenly Artifacts, Regular Heavenly Artifacts, and Superior Heavenly Artifacts.
The Plant Heaven Orb, for instance, was widely known as an Inferior Heavenly Artifact. Its ability to nourish plants and accelerate their growth was useful, but compared to true treasures, its value was limited.
