Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 : Battle Of Wills

Chapter 26 : Battle Of Wills

Tang Feng sat with his legs crossed as he focused intently on the battle before him. Since they weren't moving, Su Yan was unable to copy their battle styles and techniques, so Tang Feng had to memorize it and gain enlightenments from the fight all on his own.

"Brother, what do you mean by fighting with your will?" Luo Ning, who knew nothing of the world of martial arts, asked.

"It is said that ancient cultivators train their minds before they train anywhere else, for if your mind is weak, your strength means nothing," Tang Feng said, picking a line that a friend of his from his last life once told him.

"Brother, I don't understand," Luo Ning said, scratching her head.

Tang Feng patted her head with a smile and said, "Don't worry about it, I will explain when the competition is over."

Luo Ning nodded and looked back at the stage.

Tang Feng continued to watch the fight and was gaining a lot of insight from it. Both Zhao Hengyu and Wei Shaotian were fighting with sword intents which they created with their bare hands. The stage was beginning to crack even as they stood unfazed.

The spectators were shocked.

"Is their strength so terrifying that just standing for a long time will destroy the whole place? Is this the power of ancient cultivators?" one of the spectators said, as he watched in awe, finally expecting a good fight.

After their last clash of wills, Wei Shaotian and Zhao Hengyu opened their eyes, satisfied smiles on their faces, as they launched towards each other at a speed that destroyed their footing the moment they took off. From fist fights to forming chi attacks, the attacks were fierce and dominating, causing those who left initially to return. But the elder that was overseeing the match slid his fingers to the side and locked off those that left before.

Just as he turned his attention back, the barriers began to crack. He tried his best to sustain it but their strength was too overwhelming.

"You old coots should stop sitting and come help me out," the old man said, his expression changing as he struggled to keep up with the speed of the fight.

The barrier began cracking as the blows intensified, and the old man increased the force on the barrier, repairing the cracks slowly. The other old men sitting down didn't want the show to end so they all stood up to help, disappearing and appearing at the barrier one after the other, forming a circle around it. They all did finger signs and repaired the cracks of the barrier.

The fight was still going on within the barrier, with Zhao Hengyu and Wei Shaotian sending attacks endlessly at each other. Wei Shaotian punched Zhao Hengyu and sent him flying with a kick. Zhao Hengyu coughed out blood at the impact of the kick and flew back till his back hit the ground.

"Xiao Zhao, you did good lasting this long. I must commend you, but it ends here," Wei Shaotian said, taking his stance with one foot back, one of his hands tucked back in a fist, and the other raised to chin-level with only two fingers out.

After hearing Wei Shaotian, Zhao Hengyu stood up, wiping out the remnant blood on his lips, and scoffed.

"I expect nothing less from you, Uncle Wei," he said, a smile on his face as he also took his stance.

Zhao Hengyu took a deep breath and began sliding his legs and swinging his arms to create the yin-yang symbol.

"The dragon descends from the heavens," Wei Shaotian said, slowly opening his eyes, the ground beneath him cracking as a dragon appeared in the sky, outside the barrier, descending towards it.

"Dream of a thousand flowers," Zhao Hengyu said, releasing the breath he held earlier, causing the yin-yang symbol to light up and send out multiple luminous blue petals.

"These kids really are going hard," one of the old men stabilizing the barrier said, as he pointed his fingers at the descending dragon, making a crack in the void that led into the barrier.

The dragon glowed as it flew in spirals past the void crack and into the barrier behind Wei Shaotian, roaring as it entered the barrier, making bigger void cracks as the sound waves spread out.

"My God, Wei Shaotian is really from an ancient sect, just his roar is so domineering," one of the spectators said with so much excitement, causing the crowd to begin cheering.

"Fight, come on!" the crowd cheered.

"You can still give up, Xiao Zhao," Wei Shaotian said.

"Enough nonsense!" Zhao Hengyu said, annoyed that his uncle was underestimating him.

"Hyahh!" he said, releasing his petal barrage which was circling him and aiming it at Wei Shaotian, who also did the same, sending his manifested dragon at Zhao Hengyu.

The petal barrage turned into a dragon mid-air and clashed with Wei Shaotian's, causing a huge force, which tore the void, pushed both fighters back, and broke the barrier, pushing all the old men who were stabilizing it back a bit.

The crowd was afraid the shattered barrier pieces would hit them, covering their faces and turning their backs to avoid it, but the old men destroyed them all, and continued watching the outcome of the match with both hands behind their backs.

The dragons were pushing each other, competing for dominance, with both Wei Shaotian and Zhao Hengyu pushing with all their strength to overpower the other.

"It's over," Tang Feng, who had been observing the fight quietly for a while, finally spoke up, causing the heads of those close to him to turn—Zuo Hai and Luo Ning included.

"Zeng'ge, what do you mean? They're still fighting," Luo Ning said.

And when she finished, Wei Shaotian broke through Zhao Hengyu's defense, causing the petals to scatter, and his dragon flying towards Zhao Hengyu.

"It's over," he said.

But Zhao Hengyu smiled.

"Really?" he said, as he swung his fingers, causing the scattered petals to surround Wei Shaotian's dragon, making a cage around it.
