The alley's dim light cast jagged shadows across the cracked pavement as Jet leaned against the PTV, her arms crossed. Sunny stood a few paces away, his posture rigid.
After some agonizing moments, Jet opened her mouth first.
"Divine," she said flatly. "A Divine Aspect. Do you even understand what that means?"
Sunny's jaw tightened. "It means I'm stronger."
"Stronger? Do you even know what you have done? You are the first person in history to do that."
Sunny stayed silent. He noticed that his flaw did not force him to answer rhetorical questions.
But how did Jet know about his aspect rank? He had a feeling that just like he could see Jet's rune, she could see his. There is no way a slave could see his master's runes, but the master couldn't see the slave's runes. The Spell is not that benevolent.
Speaking of Jet's rune, he had a good look at them during the car ride.

From what Sunny understood from reading her runes, her Dormant Ability allowed her to absorb the essence of enemies she killed, and her Awakened Ability allowed her to bypass all forms of physical defense and strike directly at her enemies' souls.
Her Ascended Ability was to gradually absorb shards of broken soul cores from those she had killed to build up and strengthen her own, both in size and capacity.
How did her Ascended Ability work? Sunny had no idea. What did the Spell mean by 'building up and strengthening her own'? Did it remove the natural limit of essence infusion that most living beings' flesh had?
Sunny was glad he read those webtoons. He at least could understood some of the basic things.
'A supreme aspect, that's pretty powerful. She is also an outskirts rat like me. Anyone above or equal to a transcendent aspect was already considered a pillar of the legacy clan. So why is she working as a government agent? And what's that weird flaw?'
Speaking of her flaw, Sunny looked at her. Jet is still studying him, likely gathering her thoughts and preparing to throw a barrage of questions. Before she could ask anything, Sunny opened his mouth:
"Are you really dead?"

For the first time in what felt like forever, Jet was speechless. Her usual mask of indifference cracked, revealing a flicker of surprise. Oh, she was surprised when she saw that Sunny's aspect rank is divine, but this—here she was caught off-guard.
'H-how?'
But she has already recovered from her shock.
"You can see my runes?"
"Yes, Ascended Jet."
Jet snorted, "Don't even think about using this information as leverage, Sunny. The people I wished didn't know about my flaw already know. And my aspect? I'm pretty famous, you know. As a government employee, I have fought many battles every day."
Sunny's jaw clenched.
'Bullseye. He really was thinking about using it as leverage.'
And now it's her time to push.
"Say, Sunny, why don't we talk about your flaw now? And also about your peculiar aspect."
