Chapter 151: Pursuit Part 1

The group appeared on the side of the pond from where they had previously accessed the tomb.

"Ah… we left so much treasure behind," Andromeda cried.

"We are back at the pond," Bella noted. "I thought you were taking us directly to your home." She didn't understand why they were still here.

"That's exactly where I intended to go." James's eyes were darting around the grassy fields.

By now, the sky had darkened quite a bit, making it difficult to see anything far away.

However, he still had the same strange sensation from before entering the tomb.

"We have to run," James said all of a sudden.

The girls were startled.

"What do you mean?" Bella noticed how serious his tone sounded but could not understand what got him so concerned now. They were already outside the tomb, and there shouldn't be any dangers here.

"No way I'm running… I'll just use app—" Andromeda could not finish what she was saying.

James had grabbed her and Bella by their waists and lifted them up before he took off running at great speed.

"James?!" Bella felt her face heating up.

"Hey! Let me go!" Andromeda shouted at him.

Just an instant after he had moved them, the ground where they had been standing… exploded with tremendous violence, sending dirt and dust everywhere.

"What the—"

"What was that?!" Andromeda and her sister looked behind them.

"It was a trap!" James exclaimed. His worried expression showed how serious the situation was, and the two sisters picked up on that very quickly.

During their expedition in the tomb, they had gone through many dangerous situations, but James never looked as concerned as he was right now.

"𐎽𐎯𐎤𐎤𐎣 (Speed)," James called upon ancient magic to enhance his body further and increase his movement speed.

"We are inside a barrier that prevents us from teleporting away. We have to force our way out before escaping."

"A barrier?" Andromeda looked confused. "There was nothing like that when we got here."

"Is someone attacking us?" Bella could not imagine any other scenario but had no idea who could be after them. She glanced behind them as James ran; however, she could see nothing other than a cloud of dust.

"Ahh!" Andromeda cried when James threw her over his shoulder. "What are you doing?!" she said with indignation. Being carried like a sack of potatoes was not something she was accustomed to.

James had only done this to free up one of his hands and pull something from his robes.

A small vial appeared between his fingers, and James threw it behind them without hesitation.

The girls saw this and were about to ask him what kind of potion he had thrown away.

They had no time for that, as just a second later, a column of fire rose from the spot where the potion had landed.

The resulting heat was enough to force a reaction out of them, and they hurried to cover their faces, even though James had already gotten quite far from the explosion.

"That was the only vial of phoenix flames I had available… those are extremely hard to get." James answered the question they didn't ask.

"That should buy us a few seconds at least."

He kept going through the field until they spotted a forest in the distance.

"There!" He had just spotted the end of the barrier. It was a semi-translucent shield that covered almost a mile all around the pond.

James did not slow down one bit and continued to run toward it.

"W-wait, don't you need to stop and destroy the magic field first?" Andromeda said.

"We are going to crash!" Bella exclaimed when she saw the barrier getting closer and closer.

"𐎡𐎱𐎤𐎠𐎪 (Break)." He jumped into the air as his right leg began to emit a golden glow.

Without holding back, James kicked the barrier, and the magic he had summoned did the rest of the work—tearing a hole in the protective barrier and allowing them through.

James then continued to dash toward the forest ahead of them for a few more seconds before he finally put the girls down.

"Hold on to me."

Andromeda and Bella didn't question him anymore and did what he said, as they could at least understand that the situation was very serious, given how cautious James was being.

While they held onto him, James moved his wand to point in the direction they came from. He could feel something moving at great speed toward them.

He only got a flashing glimpse of a figure covered with flames running in their direction.

"Fiendfyre." A stag made of dark crimson flames came into existence and stood before them in a protective manner while burning everything around them.

The two girls were from a dark wizard family, so they immediately recognized the incredibly illegal magic James had just used.

But before they could say anything, he apparated away from the forest.

The next instant, they found themselves on top of a rocky cliff, surrounded by a barren landscape of more rocks and boulders around them, and the ocean on the other side.

"What is this?" Andromeda looked confused as she had no idea where they were. There were many places like this around the coast of the British Isles, but none that she personally knew.

Bella glanced at him. "James? What is going on? I thought th—"

"I can't go directly home," James interrupted her. "The Warlock will easily trace us there. We need to lose them first."

"A Warlock?!" Andromeda exclaimed in shock. She, of course, knew what a Warlock was. This was the title given to the most notable wizards in the entire world.

The ones that the International Confederation of Wizards considered as the most powerful of their era. Albus Dumbledore was a well-known member of this select club.

"At the very least, the one chasing us is someone of that level. The phoenix fire I used would have killed anyone else." He was very confident about that.

The potion he used was one of his most potent weapons, and that person had just run through it like it was nothing. An opponent like that would be a difficult one to deal with.

"We will need to teleport a few more times to lose them. But for now…" He pointed at the cliff before them. "We need to jump down."
