Marcus's POV

The scent of blood filled my nostrils, metallic, thick, suffocating. It clung to the air like fog, sinking into my skin and staining the night with dread. I scanned the battlefiesld, my golden eyes sweeping through the dense forest where my warriors moved like shadows. Years of discipline showed in their movements, silent, precise, lethal.

But none of our training had prepared us for this.

The rogues had changed.

These weren't just the half starved deserters we were used to cutting down.

No, what charged through the trees tonight were monsters.

Twisted limbs bent at grotesque angles, their furs falling away in patches to expose sickly gray skin. Their eyes sglowed a haunting violet, soulless, empty.

Not wolves. Not even animals. Abominations.

"What the hell happened to them?"

Lucas muttered beside me, his voice low, shaken. I rarely saw fear in his eyes.

"Whatever pact Miya warned Foxy about."

I replied, my voice just as grim.
