Chapter 137 - Parting ways

A week passed, and the rigorous training for Rei, Bart, and Eugene concluded. That night in their tent, Eugene spoke, "Rei, I want to stay here and train until I get stronger."

"Don't worry, you can train here," Rei assured him. Eugene looked astonished. "I'm no fool. I can see that you're improving dramatically here. However, after five years, you have to leave this tribe and join the Revolutionaries, okay?"

"Okay," Eugene affirmed. "After five years, I will leave this tribe and join the Revolutionaries."

"Bart, what about you?" Rei asked. "What do you want to do?"

"I can see that I need to find a place to improve as well," Bart replied. "However, I think that I should train alone. So in the next town, we'll go our separate paths. I will join the Revolutionaries after five years too."

"Sure then, we will keep our five-year promise," Rei said.

The next day, Bart, Rei, and Tenko departed. As they were leaving, Rei asked, "Sorry, Tenko, you didn't get to train anything during that time." Tenko shook his head, reminiscing about his own experiences. While Rei and Bart were always fighting on the stage, Tenko had ample time to roam the forest. He encountered several magic beasts and fought them using his sorcery and claws.

Tenko used his Wind Slice to decapitate magic beasts with low defense and his Fire Breath spell against those with strong defenses. For agile and fast creatures, Tenko relied on his own speed, either running away or charging them, sometimes even aiming for their eyes to disorient them. During the first few days, he returned with heavy injuries. But then, he developed a skill that granted him immense power for short periods. With this new ability and growing experience, he was able to minimize injuries in the later days. This intense fighting continued for seven days, with minimal time to eat, but Tenko emerged victorious against all the magic beasts. Tenko was elated by the experience, cherishing one of the rare times a deadly beast had defeated magic beasts. He couldn't help but revel in the joy of being a deadly beast capable of killing magical beasts.

As Rei traveled through the Midgard towards the town ahead, he saw a stampede of magic beasts. "Do these magic beasts have a death wish?" Rei wondered. He took out his Scepter, about to step out, but then he noticed the beasts were fleeing from something. "Tenko, attack the beasts! Show your fury while I protect Midgard!" Rei commanded.

"Let me help you," Bart offered. Bart created a protective earth barrier with his sorcery around the Midgard, and Rei used a wind barrier, forming a whirlwind-like shield.

Tenko grew larger, then unleashed his sorcery. He simultaneously used Fire Breath, Earth Claw, and Wind Wings. His appearance transformed: wings of wind materialized on his back, two ribbons of fire streamed from his mouth, and earth adhered to his claws, making them larger. "Wow, Tenko! I didn't expect you to make a new spell, Wind Wings!" Rei exclaimed. "Tell me how to use it later. Show me what you learned when I was not looking!" Tenko barked with a happy glint in his eyes and flapped his wind wings, taking flight. He then unleashed a powerful flame breath that engulfed many of the beasts, burning them. A beast attempted to attack Tenko by jumping, but Tenko used his earth claw to crush its head. "Wow, Tenko's sorcery has gotten much stronger!" Rei commented.

Tenko then unleashed another flame breath, burning more beasts. However, the beasts kept coming, so Rei used his Chaos Scepter. "Master Tier Spell: All-Encompassing Inferno!" A massive inferno erupted from the Chaos Scepter, consuming and incinerating all the beasts in its vicinity.

"Just what were they all afraid of?" Rei pondered. Tenko landed, returned to his normal form, and immediately fell asleep.

"Rei, what's this Master Tier Spell?" Bart asked.

"Let's first get out of here," Rei urged. He carried Tenko and laid him down, then resumed steering the Midgard. "I decided to distribute my sorcery spells into tiers," Rei explained. "The first tier is Apprentice Tier Spell, and this second tier is Master Tier Spell, which I just used."

"Then what would my Earth Tomb fall under?" Bart inquired.

"It would be a Master Tier, while all your other spells would be Apprentice Tier," Rei said.

"Even Earth Fall?" Bart asked.

"Yeah, it's close to Master Tier, however, you still can't control its direction," Rei admitted.

"I guess so," Bart conceded. "So how many Master Tier Spells do you know now?"

"All-Encompassing Inferno, Hydro Blast, Earth Tomb, Wind Whirl. I still haven't made any significant ones from wood and lightning spells, so I only have four Master Tier Spells," Rei replied.

"What about Dust Explosion?" Bart asked.

"I don't know where to keep it, so it is currently tierless," Rei said.

"I see," Bart replied. Suddenly, Rei stopped the Midgard. "Look at that," he said. Bart looked ahead and was shocked to see a huge wyvern some distance away.

"So that's why everyone was running," Rei realized. "A wyvern is a strong opponent. We should take another route; we are not strong enough."

"Drinking a wyvern's blood would give us wyvern bloodline," Bart lamented. "Too bad we have to let go of such a great opportunity. After all, we are not strong enough." Rei maneuvered the Midgard to the left, safely circumventing the wyvern.

As Rei traveled through the Midgard, they finally reached the town. Rei and Bart sighed in relief. Tenko woke up and went to Rei. "So you woke up," Rei remarked. "Looks like using that technique takes a toll on you." Rei, Bart, and Tenko disembarked. "Looks like this is where we part ways," Rei said.

"We will meet again," Bart promised. "And then I will be even stronger and fight alongside you. Just you wait for that day!"

"Sure," Rei replied. As they reached a juncture of roads, they went their separate ways.
