Chapter 164 - going through the Devil Hell Branch

Piers and Zen stepped inside the building, and Zen said, "This is the Devil Hell Branch."

Piers was surprised. Unlike the Black Devil Mansion, whose inside was as big as a city but still a building, the Devil Hell Branch was not like that. Inside the building was a whole different world. The sky was black with a scarlet moon, and a city was inside, with many buildings and roads connecting different places. "Are you sure we are inside a building?" Piers asked.

"This is my first time here too, so as far as I know, the Space Devil's corpse is used to make this world," Zen said. "Let's go."

"But how are there so many Space Devils?" Piers asked.

"You don't get it," Zen said. "Devils are one entity. However, when they possess your body, they use it as a vehicle to achieve their means. But when you destroy the body they're possessing, even though the devil leaves, a part of their power still stays, which is used to create these branches."

As Piers and Zen walked among the black and ominous-looking houses, Piers asked, "Even then, summoning a devil is random. How are they able to create multiple branches?"

"The Devil Hell Branch and the other branches are made by the culmination of 10,000 years of continuous devil summoning," Zen explained. "And even then, they only have eight branches."

As Piers listened, he accidentally bumped into a boy. "Oh, I'm—" he began, but the boy interrupted him with a punch. Piers dodged it.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Piers asked.

"How dare a cretin like you bump into me?" the boy said. Piers used his Mephisto powers. "Looks like you have a death wish," the boy taunted. He grew horns and sharp canines and claws.

A voice interrupted, "No fighting on these premises." Piers looked and saw a boy with white hair and red eyes. The boy clicked his tongue and stopped his devil powers. "You were lucky this time, but next time you meet me, you're toast."

Piers retracted his powers, and the white-haired boy came toward him. "My name is Vel, and I am from the disciplinary committee, which means I uphold discipline anytime two people fight," he said.

"Nice to meet you, Disciplinary Leader Vel," Piers said.

"You can just call me Vel," Vel replied. "I see that you are a new face."

Zen came forward. "He is my disciple. His name is Piers, and he will start his practice today after getting registered."

"I see," Vel said. "Then, Piers, please make sure you don't disturb anyone, because people like them have corruption seeped into their bodies and get enraged quite easily."

"Fine, I shall be going now. Thank you, Vel," Piers said.

"No problem."

Piers and Zen went to a building that felt ominous. "I can see that this building is corrupted to the core," Piers said.

"Yes, many individuals with corrupted powers come inside this building," Zen said. "It's natural that after 10,000 years, the building would get corrupted to this extent." Zen thought, "Not even the white arts can save this building."

They went to the registration office. The registrar's skin was almost black. Zen raised his guard. "We want to register Piers as a new disciple here. Here are our papers," Zen said. The registrar violently took the papers, looked at them, and registered Piers. He then impatiently threw a token, which Piers caught. Zen quickly took Piers out of the building.

Zen huffed. "He was near devilification," he said.

"What is devilification?" Piers asked.

"When a human gets entirely corrupted, the devil residing in his body takes over completely, and he turns into a vessel for the devil," Zen explained. "These devils are dangerous, very dangerous. Killing a devil like that alone is very difficult, not to mention it's still difficult to kill it with others." Piers didn't know the entire situation, so he didn't say anything.

"Okay, this is where we are going to separate for now," Zen said.

"But where should I go?" Piers asked.

"The token has your dorm number," Zen said. "When you get to the dorm, you will find a map. Use that." With that, Zen walked away.

Piers decided to look for the dorms, but no matter how much he looked, he couldn't find them because the campus was so large.

A boy asked, "What is it? What are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for the dorms section," Piers replied.

"Oh, the dorm section? Then come with me. I'll show you," the boy said.

"Sure," Piers said.

As they walked, they reached a dead end. "Show your dorm token to the wall," the boy instructed. Piers was confused but did as he was told. The bricks on the wall began to move to the side, revealing the dorms. Piers was shocked. "But why are they keeping the dorms in such a section?" he asked.

"They sometimes use the dorms as a bunker to protect their people, so they made them like that," the boy said.

"Thank you for showing me the way to my dorms," Piers said. As Piers went inside, the bricks moved and covered the wall again.

The boy muttered, "No, thank you. You let me study you." Dark smoke came from him, and in seconds, he turned into a man covered by a hood. The man went away.

After a while, the man knocked on a door. The door opened, revealing the four figures sitting on chairs. The man got on his knees. "I have investigated the boy you requested, my lords," he said.

"So, is this boy any threat to us, Jabba?" the woman asked.

"As far as I see, he is naive and is way too good to turn evil," the man named Jabba replied.

The man sitting next to the woman said, "Yes, not to mention he will not get corrupted by the devil powers. However, no matter what, you are to keep an eye on the boy."

"As per your wish, my lord," Jabba said.
