"So..."
Noah's expression turned strange.
"You've completed the divine transformation?"
"Yes." The Ancient One nodded. "I have to say, it was truly fascinating. The only word I can use to describe it is... unimaginable."
Unimaginable?
Noah almost rolled his eyes.
What kind of unimaginable feeling was that supposed to be? At least explain it!
To be honest, he was extremely curious about what had actually happened.
But the Ancient One clearly had no intention of continuing, which left Noah feeling uncomfortable.
He really wanted to know.
This wasn't something that could be understood just from the system's description. Even the system itself didn't know what would truly happen.
"Um... Teacher," Noah hesitated, then finally asked, "what exactly happens during a divine transformation? And what happens to the person undergoing it?"
These were the questions he cared about most.
What kind of situation would arise?
The system had mentioned a cosmic storm that destroyed both body and soul, but Noah had no idea what that actually looked like.
How large was the impact?
How severe was the damage?
And after the transformation-what then?
What kind of existence would one become?
How much would physical strength, magic power, and everything else change?
All of this mattered.
This was Noah preparing for his own future.
"This..." The Ancient One took a sip of tea. "I'm afraid I can't tell you, Noah."
"Huh?" Noah froze. "Why?"
The Ancient One set her cup down, her expression turning serious.
"Because every mage walks a different path. What you face will not be the same as what I faced."
"...Huh?" Noah was stunned again. "Isn't it a cosmic storm?"
"It is," she said calmly. "But there are other things as well. Things you must face on your own. If I tell you, I would only mislead you."
"So that's how it is..." Noah frowned, crossing his arms and resting his chin on one hand.
"It really isn't as simple as I thought."
Her words made him think of the Infinity Stones.
Mastering them was also full of uncertainty. The Power Stone and the Space Stone, for example, were mastered in completely different ways.
Noah couldn't help but wonder if divine transformation followed a similar logic.
"Only far more dangerous," he muttered. "And far more incredible."
He fell silent, deeply absorbed.
The Ancient One didn't share any details. She only spoke about her domain meeting the requirements, how her strength surged, and how that led to the completion of her divine transformation.
Nothing more.
That left Noah both frustrated and helpless.
If divine transformation really worked like mastering the Stones, then her silence might actually be necessary.
There was nothing he could do about it.
"Alright, Noah. Don't overthink it." The Ancient One smiled faintly. "What you'll face isn't as terrifying as you imagine-thanks to your domain."
She paused.
"But it's not as simple as you imagine either. This is a transformation test."
"...Alright." Noah sighed. "Looks like I need to calm down and think it through properly."
He really did.
Who knew what kind of absurd things he'd run into?
The complexity alone gave him a headache.
"No need to scare yourself," the Ancient One said gently. "All you need to do is continue improving, fully integrate your domain, and face it calmly."
"Face it calmly..." Noah sighed again.
For some reason, a certain troll shouting "Olly Golly" flashed through his mind.
Of course, the Ancient One wasn't that troll.
That gentleman was just... memorable.
Even after all these years, those words were burned into Noah's memory.
He supposed he really could only face it head-on.
"That's all there is to it." The Ancient One smiled. "Now, let's stop talking about this. Although it isn't far off, it will still take time."
She wasn't wrong.
Noah was only at the early ninth rank.
The gap to the tenth rank was still enormous.
He had a long way to go.
He nodded.
Then the Ancient One asked, "By the way, how are your preparations for the trip?"
"Trip?" Noah blinked, then understood.
So this was why she'd called him over.
It seemed he really was going.
Originally, Noah hadn't expected the Ancient One to advance this far.
When she mentioned Strange before, Noah had naturally thought of him.
Then she broke through her bottleneck, and Noah's attention shifted completely.
Only now did he realize her real purpose.
They were going to that parallel universe.
The one where Thanos had wiped out half of all life.
To fulfill the promise made years ago.
"I think I'm ready," Noah said after a moment, nodding.
His current level might not match Thanos.
But he had two Infinity Stones.
As long as he didn't act like a rabid lunatic, and with that world's Thor drawing Thanos's attention, he should be safe.
He could even act as support.
If Fat Thor got injured, Noah could rewind time.
If Thanos unleashed a massive attack, Noah could shift it with space magic.
These techniques weren't theoretical.
They were developed through brutal experience.
Noah had fought opponents who had mastered domains and elemental powers similar to his own-everything except light.
Even when he was beaten nine-to-one, the combat experience he gained was invaluable.
That was what he was truly proud of.
He didn't know how strong that world's Thanos would be.
But after visiting the Star Wars world, Noah understood something.
World strength varied.
A lot.
Parallel universes didn't mean identical conditions.
His own universe was a perfect example.
When he first arrived, he thought it was a normal Marvel world.
Then he saw an owl.
Then Constantine.
And nearly suffocated under that revelation.
Fortunately, aside from Constantine, no similar anomalies had appeared.
No Gotham.
No Arkham.
No man in a cape wearing red underwear on the outside.
So far, Constantine was the only one.
And the only guy who liked capes was Thor.
Gods weren't omnipotent.
Heaven wasn't absolute.
Noah was a bit disappointed he wouldn't meet those absurdly overpowered physical monsters with negative magic resistance.
But at least he didn't have to cling to anyone else for survival.
That was something.
He shook his head, clearing the chaotic thoughts.
Now wasn't the time for this.
He looked up.
The Ancient One was watching him with an amused expression, which made Noah feel slightly awkward.
"It's good that you're ready," she said. "This time, you won't be going alone."
"Not alone?" Noah tilted his head. "Did Thor convince King Odin?"
"More or less." She smiled. "Odin had complaints, of course. But this is indeed an excellent training opportunity."
"You'll face the strongest opponent you've ever encountered."
"...Thanos, right?" Noah sighed.
Still, he was secretly pleased.
Setting aside his strange desire to see a fit handsome man clash with a future fat ball, having two Thors to distract Thanos was undeniably safer.
And in the long run, that Fat Thor-having experienced his peak-could teach this world's Thor a lot.
"Yes," the Ancient One nodded. "It's him."
She paused.
"But he's different."
"Different?" Noah frowned. "Weaker than this world's?"
"No." The Ancient One shook her head. "Both are Tenth Rank."
"Then?" Noah stared at her.
"You have a chance to defeat him."
"...What?"
Noah froze.
"I have a chance to defeat him?"
"Tenth Rank?"
He stared at her in disbelief.
"Teacher," he said slowly, "are you kidding me?"
