KAEL
Her words cracked something open in me.
A laugh broke out of my chest, rough and unrestrained, because Aria always managed to catch me off guard like this. A slap outside a nightclub… of all the ways for my story with her to begin.
And she was right.
"You really slapped me," I said, shaking my head with disbelief that was more joy than anything else. "Bold little thing. Reckless. Fueled by hatred." I smirked, brushing my lips against hers. "It stood out."
She tilted her chin, eyes sharp despite how flushed she was. "There was no way I could've just walked away after the kind of arrogance you threw in my face at your office that day."
I chuckled again, the sound low, pressing her closer against me as her legs wrapped tighter around my waist. My hands gripped her firmly, holding her against the mess of my desk, and I kissed her neck slow, savoring every shiver she gave me.
"But you like it now, don't you?" I murmured against her skin. "My arrogance."
