Chapter 212 - Is Domeric the Guilty One?

Chapter 212: Is Domeric the Guilty One?

Purgatory, The Land Where Life and Death Intersect

POV of Domeric Bolton

"When a new world needs to be created in a universe, the first to be tasked with that world are the beings that possess the Primordial Force. Because without them, it is impossible to create a livable world and for the other elements to exist there."

Lady Terra began to explain in a cheerful tone. There was no trace of the tone she had just given Lady Death about not discussing such matters with a mortal.

"Hey, don't be rude," Lady Terra said, and a cold bead of sweat fell down Domeric's forehead. Apparently, Lady Terra could read his thoughts, too.

"Anyway, if a world is to exist, we, the Primordial Gods, arrive first and set to work in our own domains. During this time, the world slowly comes to life, and after a while, the first living beings appear."

"Just like that?" Domeric asked in surprise.

"Yes, just like that. But don't confuse these beings with humans with souls. These beings are generally the result of a concentration of Primordial powers." Lady Terra said.

"Oh." For a moment, Domeric thought that humans had spontaneously formed this way.

Lady Terra then continued. "When these beings feel the need to worship a being superior to themselves, they do so for the forces they see and sense around them, and thus the first religions of that world are born. Sometimes, the Primordial Gods may see some of these beings as their children and grant their blessings to those who become them."

"Just like you did with the Children of Forest, right? When you say, 'the person my children were talking about' earlier, you must mean them as your children." Domeric asked.

"Yes, that's true. Thanks to my blessing, they have earned the title of Children of the Forest and can use magic. It's also why they can turn weirwood trees into Heart Trees by connecting them to the world's source of magic. Although I still don't understand why they're making that weeping face." Lady Terra said and continued after taking a sip of her tea.

"Primordial and other powerful gods are usually forced to leave a world after their work is done. There are a few exceptions, but this is the general situation. Younger gods are then assigned to this world. Their powers are limited to their own world, and frankly, they are not essential to the world they live in. But their presence in the world has another purpose. They have been given a task."

Lad Terra paused again, at which point Domeric asked, "A task?"

"Yes, a task. The One Above All has a reason for creating every world. And for that reason, to fulfill its function in the multiverse, the world must progress in a certain way. We call this world destiny. The Young Gods' mission is to ensure that the world's progress remains in line with its destiny. They are not the ones who create destiny, but you could say they are its guardians." Lady Terra said.

"I see," Domeric said and nodded.

"And as a result, the Primordials who left the world for a certain period of time are referred to as Old Gods, while the Young Gods who came later are referred to as New Gods. Any questions?"

"There is one, actually. Why do the Primordials have to abandon the worlds later?" Domeric asked.

"Good question. There are many reasons, actually. Unlike the Young Gods, the Primordials have many responsibilities in the multiverse. That's why they can't stay tied to a world. But other than that, they have to leave so as not to disrupt the balance of that world." Lady Terra said.

"Balance? Why?" Domeric asked.

"Because the Primordials' power far exceeds the world's capacity. After completing their task and establishing the elements and rules related to their domain, they must leave. Otherwise, their domains will conflict with other domains, leading to clashes and disruption of their rules, and the world's balance will be disrupted. And now that I mentioned it, I remembered."

Lady Terra said, and suddenly turned to Lady Death.

"Death, do you know how much your interference in this world has disrupted the balance? I had to abandon my work in other worlds and focus on this one to restore balance. What exactly were you thinking? Moreover, you weren't satisfied with a single intervention and continued with subsequent interventions. And now you're coming here in person?"

Lady Terra quickly began to scold Lady Death, and for a moment, Domeric caught a glimpse of Hermione in Lady Terra.

"Uhhh... I'm sorry about that, Terra. But unexpected emergencies arose, and I had to act quickly. Besides, I've made the necessary arrangements before this meeting. Don't worry, my power isn't currently exerting any influence on this world. At least not for a while." Lady Death said.

"Emergencies! What emergencies?" Lady Terra asked curiously, her tone was no longer angry.

"What else could it be? Of course, the emergencies caused by this gentleman sitting across from you." Lady Death said, pointing at Domeric.

"Me?" Domeric asked, pointing at himself in surprise.

"Yes, you," Lady Death said.

"What have I done?" Domeric asked, his confusion growing. Hadn't he come here for answers? Why was he the one to blame now?

"If you hadn't messed up with my plans and acted as you were supposed to, none of this would have happened. I had everything planned perfectly, Terra. Can you believe it? Everything was ready for you, Harry. All you had to do was act normally, follow the plan, and you would have the life you deserved. But what did you do, Harry? You went and threw yourself into that Soul Destroyer."

Lady Death explained in an irritated tone. But Domeric still didn't understand.

"Oh, my. A Soul Destroyer. Really? You shouldn't have done that, Harry. They're not very good things," Lady Terra said, joining in.

"What are you talking about? I did no such thing. What plan? And what is a Soul Destroyer?" Domeric asked quickly. His voice was a bit stronger than usual. He had never thought he would be blamed here.

"So, you're denying it? Are you telling me you didn't throw yourself into that damn Soul Destroyer, what did you call it in your world, oh yeah, The Veil?"

Lady Death asked again. But this time, Domeric noticed a very familiar name in the question.

'The Veil? and Soul Destroyer?... Fuck.' Domeric thought and could only utter one word. "Oh…"

"Language."

"Language."

Both goddesses said at the same time. And then Lady Death continued. "And don't say 'Oh' to me."
