Chapter 290 - Sothoryos

Chapter 290: Sothoryos

Somewhere in Sothoryos

POV of Domeric Bolton

A few days later.

Domeric jumped to the side, and the 12-meter-long Swamp Wyvern passed by him a moment later, snapping its cruel beak, hoping to bite him in half and end this battle once and for all.

He doubted that the Swamp Wyvern's bite would have the power to damage the full-body Valyrian armor he was wearing. It was rather unlikely, but there was no point in taking unnecessary risks.

It was both a little frightening and a little exciting to know that the most enormous dragon he had fought in his past life was just as large as a Wyvern in this world.

"Incarcerous," he said, and a thick rope was conjured out of the air and flew toward Wyvern's legs, tying them together and stopping its means of escape.

The Swamp Wyverns were perhaps the largest Wyvern species in the world. Thus, they needed a little run-up before they tried to fly.

With that in mind, as long as its leg remains under the bound, it won't be going anywhere anymore.

The Wyvern turned its head and tried to bite him, but without a proper footing, it lost its balance and tumbled in front of him like a drunken aggressor.

"Incarcerous. Incarcerous. Incarcerous." Its beak was sealed shut, and now it couldn't even cut off the restraints on its leg.

The Wyvern tried to roll around on the swampy ground, throwing wet splotches of dirt everywhere.

He used this moment to back off and go into the safety of the tree line.

He still needed to be careful of being ambushed by other predators in the forest. After all, Sothoryos was teeming with dangerous animals and reptiles.

It won't do to focus all his attention on capturing a Swamp Wyvern and get eaten by a Basilisk or punched by an 8-meter giant fucking ape.

Nope, he would not fight those even with enhanced magical strength. They gave him flashbacks about the battle of Hogwarts, where he, Ron, and Hermione were dodging the murderous giants.

He was sure he could kill them, but they lived in small colonies, and he just… didn't want to fight them.

Fighting a Hungarian Horntail was more preferable to him than them.

Once in the safety of a few trees, he observed Wyvern struggling in the mud for a few more moments to catch his breath and calm his erratic heartbeat before he opened his magical suitcase and took out a real steel chain.

He transfigured it into a snake, which quickly coiled around Wyvern's body before returning to its original form.

He took out a few more chains and did the same.

The Wyvern shrieked like a particularly enraged Molly Weasley, but he had fought a few Brindled Wyverns and even a Shadow-Wing.

And while the Shadow Wing turned out to be a silent predator, the Brindled Wyverns had also shrieked like it was the end of the world, making him use a sound-blocking charm on his ears before his fights with those Wyverns.

How it was still able to let out any noise when its jaws shut together was a true mystery to him, and he was starting to wonder if these creatures used their magic to amplify their voices instead of hurling fire at their victims.

But for all that it was as large as the dragons from his past life, it was not a dragon. And it was not as magically resistant as a dragon, either.

So, once Domeric had properly bound the Wyvern in chains that he wished were magical in nature, he started casting the charms used by dragon handlers from his past life to sedate the Wyvern.

The spells worked spectacularly, and the Wyvern was snoring like a giant, ugly baby within a few minutes.

There was once again silence in the swamp. Or at least as much silence as you could find when hundreds and thousands of insects were buzzing and chattering around you.

Unlike the forests in the North, the forests in Sothoryos were loud and filled with insects.

Still, he listened carefully for the footsteps of any creature who might have heard his fight.

He didn't hear any and concluded they were still too far away, which meant he had time.

He picked up the magical suitcase and put it in front of the Wyvern.

Then he did something he knew would have been challenging for him if he had tried it before the Dragonlord ritual and the power up that came with Lady Terra's blessing, even if the Wyvern was not as magically resistant as dragons.

He pointed at the 12-meter-long Wyvern with his new, awesome, cool wizard staff and cast a shrinking charm on it.

The magic he used for this spell was immense, but the spell worked, and a few moments later, the 12-meter wyvern shrank into a miniature wyvern approximately 20 centimeters tall.

"Dobby," Domeric said, and with a pop, Dobby appeared next to him.

"Yes, Master Harry," Dobby said.

Domeric pointed to the miniature wyvern sleeping soundlessly on the ground and said, "Please put this one in a cage like the others."

"Dobby understands. Dobby will do as Master Harry says right away." Dobby said, and with a snap of his fingers, the miniature wyvern disappeared, and then, with another pop, Dobby disappeared too.

Domeric had already prepared giant, magically reinforced cages for the creatures he would capture inside the magical suitcase.

The creatures they had captured now waited in miniature form inside these cages.

Domeric was unaware of these creatures' resistance to magic. So, in case the shrinking charm wore off, he had made his cages oversized.

But he hoped they would all retain their miniature form until he returned home. Handling them at their full size was too difficult, and he didn't want to have to deal with shrinking them again.

And Domeric had brought Dobby along on his trip to Sothoryos to care for the creatures he'd caught.

The miniature Swamp Wyvern had likely been placed in one of the cages by Dobby. Ready to be transported to his lands, where it hopefully wouldn't die of cold on the very first day.

After dealing with Swamp Wyvern, Domeric quickly used a few spells to camouflage himself and hide his presence as well as he could.

Those Basilisk bastards will still find him. They somehow always did. But he would at least stay safe from the Giant Apes, the Brindled Men, or one of the dozens of other things trying to make a lunch out of him in this new and unexplored continent.

He then summoned and stepped on his hoverboard and left the area, not flying too high because of all the wyverns flying in these lands.

He still needed to go inside his magical suitcase and check the other creatures with the new Wyvern he had captured. But that could wait till he was in a safe place, as he did for the other Wyverns and Basilisks he captured before this one.

Like a town made up of the worst kind of slavers and pirates who had made their base in the islands of Sothoryos.

Yeah. He was already starting to regret coming to this continent.

At least the large number of magical plants, insects, reptiles, and animals he found and collected in Sothoryos made up a little for the absolute shit hole this place was.

Not that he would be able to use the ingredients until he was behind the safety of his castle walls or in his underground base.

Yes, living in Sothoryos for a few days had really made him appreciate the security of his home.

So much for being the most powerful mortal on the planet.
