Chapter 11 - BOILED EGGS

After driving for few more minutes. Sania finally arrived home. She alighted from the car into the house with two kegs of milk in her hands. She walked to the kitchen and placed them on the counter. She walked out into the living room and shouted.

 "Mom! Dad! I'm back!"

But no response, she shouted again. All she heared was the faint echo of her voice. Worriedly she climbed the stairs to her parents room; then knocked at the door. She opened the door after knocking three times with no response. She saw nobody inside.

 "Where did they go to?"

Sania wondered

She walked to her brother's room and opened the door.

"Ayah do you know where mom and dad are?

Sania asked placidly.

"Sania don't you know how to knock before stepping into someone else's room. Where is your simple show of courtesy?"

Ayah asked jauntily. Sania blinked and apologized.

"I'm so very sorry Ayah, forgive my insolence."

"You are not welcome, go out and knock."

Ayah said with a slight smile on his face enjoying his sister's expression of displeasure.

"You are not serious, just answer my question.

Sania said unhappily.

"I'm am not joking sis, just go out and do as I say, and remember I'm older than you, so you must accord me some respect."

Ayah said with a straight face and with a twinkle of mischieve in his eyes. Sania grumbled; totally rendered speechless. She walked back to the door open it and knocked.

 " I can't hear you Sania"

Ayah said laughingly.

"Your ears aren't deaf you can perfectly hear me"

Sania said curtly now very annoyed.

"When your are ready Sania you can knock to my hearing."

He said with a bright grin on his face. Sania was sick of his vindictive attitude. He must be getting revenge for what happened last week. She walked away not wanting to put up with him.

Sania walked backed to the kitchen, picked the car keys and walked into the garage, opened the car and brought out the remaining two kegs of milk inside the car. From her brother's attitude she could guess her parents were fine and she need not worry. She checked around the house just to confirm if they might be at home, but they were not.

She decided to cook lunch to satisfy her hungry stomach. One hour later she was done cooking, she setup the table nicely, she took off her apron and decided to invite her brother. She cooked more than enough for three; lately she's been having huge appetite.

Sania climbed the stairs to her brother's room, and this time she remembered to knock.

"Come in"

Came his reply monotoneously. She opened the door and saw him typing seriously on his computer.

"I made lunch, come join me."

She said smiling; feeling very proud of her latest achievement.

"I will join you shortly."

Ayah replied briskly.

Sania happily hopped down the stairs. She dished out the food for both of them, but her's is double the portion.

She warmed the milk Mr. Butcher gave her and served it.

She sat down on her seat comfortably then she heard the sound of his footsteps, so she decided to wait for him before taking a bite.

Ayah walked down slowly and sat down. He wasn't very pleased about his sister's choice of meal.

"Who eats beacon, toasted bread and boiled eggs for lunch Sania?"

He said slowly with his hands gesturing, and a bit of contempt in his voice. Sania who was on cloud 9 was suddenly brought down with disgrace. The smile on her face creased up to a frown. She thought to herself.

"This boy is indeed ungrateful, a simple thank you is hardly heard from his mouth. Spoilt indeed."

Sania exhailed and smiled again not letting him ruin her mood.

" I would"

She replied curtly

" It's not weird coming from your mouth Sania, here I thought you can't find new ways to disgrace yourself."

Sania snarled at the word disgrace and rolled her eyes in disgust.

"So unlady like."

He added after seeing her expression. Sania took a bite of her beacon and toasted bread deciding to completely ignore him.

Ayah decided not to say anymore after she made no remark to his words.

They both had a peaceful lunch. Ayah decided to wash the dishes to save his sister the stress. He would rather not be straight forward but said

"I'm scared the dishes would not be in save hands if I let you wash them."

Sania was bewildered, like she hasn't been the one doing the dishes alone recently. Deep within her she was very pleased.

She sat down on the sofa and waited for him to finish washing the dishes. She now wondered where her parents went. They didn't say anything before she went out for for grocery shopping. 10 minutes after, Ayah was done washing the dishes. He came to the sitting room and sat next to Sania. He picked the remote control beside her and was about to turn on the television when Sania's voice interrupted him.

"Where did mom and dad go to?"

She asked curiously.

"To pick Anna and grandpa from the airport."

He replied briskly, then turned on the TV.

Sania TSu screamed happily.

"Grandpa is going to be here with Anna!I'm so happy Ayah! Imagine what grandpa is going to bring for me."

" I don't care Sania"

He replied nonchalantly.

" Aren't you excited?"

She asked

"I am"

He replied

" I am beyound bliss."

She said

"Don't make noise, I want to listen to the news."

Ayah said as he turned to a news channel. Sania TSu giggled thinking what goodies her grandpa would bring, then she wondered

"This boy is suddenly so interested in the news lately. What is he up to...."
