Chapter 49. Feels Like I Forgot Something
Because they'd arrived in the afternoon yesterday, Xander slept straight through to the next morning.
As dawn was just breaking, he opened his eyes.
His mind hadn't woken up yet, but his stomach, empty for a whole day, cried out first.
So hungry...
The surge of hunger jolted his consciousness awake, and the embarrassing scene from yesterday replayed in his mind.
Tch, what a misplay.
He shook his head to cast off stray thoughts.
Aside from the hunger, a full night's sleep had cleared every debuff from his body.
Right now, he just felt fresh all over.
As expected, you only learn to treasure something after you've lost it.
Xander felt his body had never been this good.
Wait—fresh?
Sitting up, he scratched his head at his bare body in confusion.
Who stripped his clothes off?
Lifting the blanket, he found not even his underwear left.
He remembered that when he'd dozed off yesterday, he seemed to feel a familiar warmth.
Was that Seele?
His backpack was right by the bed.
Without overthinking it, Xander took out a fresh set of clothes and changed—shorts and a white tee.
Simple—the universal combo.
Then he picked up his phone on the nightstand to check the time.
He tapped it, but the screen didn't respond.
A moment later he realized why: the battery was dead.
He recalled that the charge had already been in the danger zone when they got off the plane yesterday.
After that, he'd been airsick and never plugged it in, so it must have shut itself off.
Staring at his reflection in the black screen, Xander kept feeling like he had forgotten something.
He frowned and thought hard for a long time, but nothing came to mind.
Forget it.
Filling my stomach comes first.
He connected the phone to the charger and, stretching, headed to the en suite bathroom.
After a quick wash, he opened the door and walked out.
Not long after he left the room, the phone, now charging, beeped and booted up.
The Anti-Entropy logo flashed by, and the lock screen lit up with a sleeping-Seele background.
Then the whole phone began to vibrate madly.
Messages poured in like a flood, mixed with several missed calls.
They were almost all from the same person: a cute girl with long pink hair.
...
Maybe they'd gotten too excited yesterday.
The girls all slept in this morning.
Without catching the cook, Xander had no choice but to walk to the fridge alone and take out toast and milk.
He warmed them a bit, spread some peanut butter, and called it breakfast.
These high-calorie foods happened to satisfy the demands of his empty stomach.
With the sunrise over the sea as his side dish, Xander sat on the wooden steps by the door and took slow bites.
The taste was just okay.
The peanut butter was a bit cloying, but paired with milk it was just right.
At least his belly finally had something in it, and that panicky feeling from hunger dissipated.
Feeling life force returning, a line from a certain big-brained "Sentience" popped into his head.
This is the complete Chiyuan.
The complete Fu Hua.
The complete me!!
Swapping in his own name, that was exactly Xander's mood right now.
Too embarrassing to say out loud, though.
Maybe only someone with Little Senti's personality could shout it without a hint of shame.
After tidying up and heading back into the villa, one of the bedroom doors on the second floor opened.
Through the gaps in the rail, Xander clearly saw a fluffy mess of white hair.
Wearing a loose sleep dress, Kiana trudged down step by step, yawning as she walked, tears welling at the corners of her eyes.
Passing Xander, she squinted and greeted him, "Ah, it's Xander. Good morning~"
Her drawn-out greeting even infected him with a hint of drowsiness.
Before he could reply, Kiana suddenly stopped.
She quickly turned around, one eye big and one eye small, staring at him in a daze.
Soon, her eyes went wide with surprise.
"Xander, you're awake!"
"Mm-hmm. And I didn't turn into a girl."
Xander smiled back, slipping in a little jab.
"What do you mean 'turn into a girl'? Does your body feel okay? Anywhere still uncomfortable?"
As she spoke, Kiana even reached out and started feeling around.
"Don't worry, I'm fully recovered."
He brushed away her wandering little hands—if she touched somewhere she shouldn't, that'd be bad.
Kiana, for her part, was only wearing a loose camisole sleep dress.
With a slightly bigger motion, the strap slid down her smooth, rosy shoulder, and a half-curve of fair skin was exposed to the air.
Kiana noticed nothing.
As expected of a good bro—handing out fanservice first thing in the morning.
"That's great, that's great. You really scared us yesterday, you were so pale. You looked about the same as when Sirin fainted from a horror movie."
"Sirin fainted from a horror movie?"
Curiosity flashed in Xander's eyes.
"Of course! You didn't see it that time..."
Getting into it, Kiana began waving her hands and vividly recounting how Sirin passed out from a scary movie and got piggybacked to the hospital by their eldest sister.
At the height of excitement, she even wanted to hoist Xander onto her back for a demo.
Little did she know, a certain purple-haired girl had been behind her for some time, giving her a death glare.
Soon, Kiana's miserable scream echoed through the room.
Perhaps the scream was too tragic.
Seele, Bronya, and Mei quickly emerged from their rooms, rubbing their eyes.
After stepping out, they all leaned their heads over the rail in unison to look down.
Xander smiled and greeted them one by one.
Seeing him recovered, Mei exhaled with a relieved smile.
Bronya's eyes sparkled.
Yesterday's chance had been snatched by Seele—today she wanted to do something too.
Seele, however, didn't think that far.
She waved in delight, then went tap—tap—down the stairs and threw herself at Xander.
"Brother, is your body okay now?"
"Mm. Thanks to Seele's care~"
Who knew that this little compliment would instantly turn Seele's face red.
She glanced left and right, then leaned to his ear and whispered, "Brother knows about yesterday?"
"Yesterday? What happened?"
Seeing the unfeigned confusion on his face, Seele finally relaxed and waved both hands.
"It's nothing, it's nothing. Brother doesn't need to mind it, hehe~"
Doing something secretly for her brother, like a little shared secret, made Seele's heart skip in delight.
Girl, has no one told you this only makes people even more curious?
Looking at Seele's smiling face, Xander pondered how to get her to spill.
Compared to the cheer over here, the mood elsewhere was a bit off.
"Eden, don't you think Xander is way too much, treating a cute girl like this!!"
In a pink, dreamy bedroom, Elysia lay on the bed in pajamas.
Her two cute white feet thumped the soft mattress in time with her displeasure.
On the tablet in front of her, the well-dressed Eden looked at her with a rather helpless gaze.
