We end up finding a little chicken place that sells heavenly wings.
Jude manages to finish his plate, with a promise of more ice cream and chocolate from me.
He even smiles and laughs a little at my poor jokes, shaking his head, eyes crinkling into crescents whenever he laughs. He is simply so beautiful, and my heart eases when I see that he is like this.
The numbers are dwindling, and we will have to go back the day after tomorrow. There is no deadline on mourning, on days that you should feel under the weather, and then when the set date comes, you should forget your troubles and appear cheerful again.
Unfortunately, for him, it's almost like that. We only have two days left before we have to get back. Before he has to appear in front of the mass crowd and laugh, have fun, and pretend that he is fine.
"What are you thinking about?"
We are walking down a street market, and I snap out of my mind, looking at Jude before smiling a little. "Oh, nothing."
