Chapter 54 - Penance in the Land of Fire

When everything came to an end, Uchiha Yang had little reason to stay in Konoha. Before leaving, he took a final look at Hatake Kakashi. This child was in a much better situation than in the original timeline.

Although his father's death had been a heavy blow, the Hatake clan had a stronger foundation than before. With the care of Uchiha and Rin Nohara, Kakashi had developed a more cheerful personality.

Kakashi was deeply grateful to the Uchiha clan because he knew that without them, his father, Sakumo Hatake, would have been condemned to a life of disgrace. Even though his father had accepted his fate, the higher-ups of Konoha weren't willing to let the matter go.

If it hadn't been for the Uchiha's intervention, things would have turned out much worse. At the memorial service, Kakashi had seen things more clearly and gained a deeper understanding of the truths hidden beneath the surface of the village.

But no matter how much he understood, Konoha would not change just because of his personal will. The only way to truly have a say was to become stronger. Strength was the root of everything. Only by growing stronger could he restore his family's honor and reclaim his father's lost glory.

With that in mind, he resolved to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and graduate from the Academy early. He shared his thoughts with his senior, expecting to be advised to keep a low profile and let time pass before taking action.

Unexpectedly, his senior was very supportive. In fact, he even encouraged Kakashi, saying that if he graduated early, he could break his own record. As a parting gift, he also gave Kakashi insights into his personal kendo training experience.

Was the Uchiha clan always this kind to those they recognized? It was the same with Obito, and now this senior as well. Kakashi made a silent vow to remember this kindness and repay it one day.

Before Uchiha Yang left the village, Uchiha Nobunaga, the current patriarch, issued a new family rule: the Second Child Policy. From now on, every Uchiha family must have at least two children. The clan would take responsibility for raising the second child, ensuring the bloodline continued to thrive.

The Uchiha bloodline was too rare and too valuable. In the past, economic constraints had limited such initiatives, but now, with the clan profiting from its control over Fire Country's assets, money was no longer an issue. It was time to focus on the true wealth of the clan—its people.

Money could be stored away, but it was ultimately just a resource. Real strength came from producing more talented shinobi. The elders believed that by increasing their numbers, the clan would grow stronger, ensuring its dominance in the future.

In particular, a certain handsome uncle was strictly required to have at least one more child. His firstborn was already a prodigy, and with a few more Uchiha like him, the clan could reach even greater heights.

The Uchiha supported free love, but if a shinobi reached 16 without a partner, the clan would arrange an engagement with parental consent, with the wedding set for age 18. For those still without a match, the Elder Council held clan-organized matchmaking events.

Simply put: if you weren't married, you had to get married and have children. If you had a strong bloodline, the clan expected you to continue it. If you were too young and didn't have time for love, the clan would find a partner for you.

The Uchiha clan was determined to expand its numbers, and no one was exempt.

Uchiha Yang wasted no time in leaving.

"This family is insane," he muttered as he fled. His own time was approaching, and if he stayed any longer, he'd end up in an arranged marriage.

Just last year, Uchiha Reel and Uchiha Yan had been forcibly detained by the clan and told they were getting married.

"Damn it, brothers, I'll take my leave first. Don't bother seeing me off!"

Upon arriving in the Land of Fire, he was immediately confronted by Uchiha Kuzan and Uchiha Hoshino, who looked furious.

"What the hell kind of ideas did you put into the clan's head?" Kuzan growled. "Now we're being forced to return for marriage, and the brides haven't even been decided yet!"

"I am not responsible! I didn't say anything! Don't spread false accusations!" Yang protested. "I escaped just like you two. If you both leave, who's supposed to guard the village?"

"That brat Hualuo already got engaged," Kuzan snapped. "Get over here!"

"Yang, listen," Hoshino added, smirking. "If you're going to stir up trouble, at least find someone with a good heart and strong constitution. My second uncle's daughter is 17 and weighs 200 pounds—perfect match for you! She's a great cook, never causes trouble, and won't ever leave your side."

Kuzan visibly shuddered, realizing Hoshino had already been caught. He could see what was coming for him.

Yang broke into a cold sweat. "Uh... my mother already arranged my match. You know, that one girl... yeah... gotta go!"

And with that, he vanished.

Uchiha Yang's Training

Yang arrived at the Royal Chamber of Commerce, the tallest building in Fire Country. Lying on the rooftop, he basked in the sunlight.

He had a lot on his mind. A lot had happened recently. But at least now, he had freed Uchiha from the quagmire it had been stuck in.

No one would be able to drag the clan back down again—not so easily.

But he still had work to do. His own training needed to improve. His swordsmanship was excellent, useful in the early and mid-stages of a battle, but against endgame threats like Kaguya Otsutsuki, sword skills alone wouldn't be enough. Those fights were on an entirely different level—a battle of gods.

That's why he needed to focus on his Light Release.

"I wanted to live as a different kind of Uchiha," Yang muttered. "But when I tried, all I got in return was suppression and hostility. Fine then. No more hiding. Time to show them who I really am."

Thus began his extreme training.

During the day, he trained like a madman—taijutsu, ninjutsu, swordplay—never stopping except to eat and drink. He looked like he was possessed by Might Guy himself.

At night, he practiced kenjutsu blindfolded.

His relentless training made people worry. They thought the death of White Fang had affected him too much.

Half a year later, Yang ventured into a remote forest and smiled.

"Let's begin."

"Light Release: Laser Beam!" A golden ray shot from his fingertip, piercing straight through a distant tree, leaving a clean hole.

"Light Release: Shockwave!" He cupped his hands, forming a calyx shape at his waist, gathering energy. When he fired, a golden projectile shot forward, clearing a path through the woods.

"Light Release: Refraction Strike!" A beam of light bounced between targets, forming a path along which he could move at near-light speed. Faster than the Flying Thunder God, but requiring a set trajectory.

"Light Release: Heavenly Jewel Barrage!" Leaping into the air, he rained down countless dazzling light bullets, turning the area below into a cratered wasteland.

"Light Release: Elementalization!" His entire body shimmered in golden light, phasing through solid objects.

When he finally collapsed from exhaustion, he crawled toward a patch of sunlight. Within moments, his chakra replenished, his fatigue fading away.

"As long as the sun shines… I can fight from dawn till dusk."

His next goal: to reach Jonin rank before the Third Shinobi War. Then, he'd secure command of his own team.

The Uchiha Revival would begin.
