Chapter 60 - "Brother is Right"

Uchiha Clan Council Scene (Naruto Shippuden Style)

At the end, Uchihayo stood up and clenched his fists with quiet determination.

"I did well this time," he thought. "This strategy should be implemented. I've been mulling over it for hours—it's the only path forward."

He looked at the two people standing before him. Uchiha Nobunaga, one of the senior clan members, looked stunned. As for young Fugaku—this child...

Uchiha Tomitake noticed his elder brother's serious gaze and awkwardly stood up. Even Uchiha Yang tensed, sensing something shifting in the room.

Then, Fugaku stood up straight, turned to their father, and declared, "Father, big brother is right! Everything he said makes sense! We need to make them crush their own schemes—force them to show their hand. That's the only satisfying outcome."

Uchihayo nodded like a wise elder. "You've finally learned to speak like a true leader."

Uchiha Nobunaga snapped out of his trance and slammed his palm on the table, nearly cracking it. "Yes! That's it. Let's implement it. Yang, take notes—I'll convince the elders. This isn't just a plan we should try—it's a strategy we must carry through with precision."

He muttered under his breath, "We'll hand this directly to those old warhawks who treat politics like a jutsu exam. Our clan, once the backbone of Konoha, is now tangled in their rotten web. If I don't lay it out clearly, they'll think I've gone soft—giving up power to bow to the Hokage's system."

"I've already written it, Uncle," Uchiha Yang replied, producing a scroll from his robes. "Everything's inside—our proposal, the objectives, the rationale. One more thing—since Fugaku is returning to the Konoha Military Police Force, I believe he should form his own squad. Let our younger generation choose their own members—no more than five. It'll ensure trust and synergy."

"Father," added Tomitake, "I agree with big brother. If we pick our teammates, there'll be fewer internal conflicts."

Uchiha Nobunaga nodded. "Fine. I'll draft an official authorization. You'll have the right to reassign members—with their consent, of course. We're family—we don't need unnecessary resentment."

Uchiha Yoshin muttered in the corner, "What idiot wouldn't want to join the team of the future clan head?"

Outside the clan office, Uchihayo and his younger brother strolled into the sunlight.

"Any candidates in mind?" Uchihayo asked.

Fugaku hesitated. "I've got a few. We trained together before, but I'm not sure how skilled they are now."

"It's fine. I've been keeping tabs on a few for you," Uchihayo replied. "Uchiha Yakushi—your childhood friend—is skilled in support tactics and has an exceptional sense of logistics and strategy. Rare for a shinobi."

"Then there's Uchiha Mugen—he's versatile. Excellent in genjutsu, Fire Style, and Lightning Style. Grandson of the Fourth Elder. Strong and tactically sharp."

"Uchiha Motohiro and Uchiha Yoshimoto—ranked fourth and eighth in the clan's recent kenjutsu trials. Both reliable. And Uchiha Reiji, a specialist in genjutsu and fire release. Sharp-tongued, but useful in negotiations. Even has his own ninja hound—rare among Uchihas."

"If your friends don't match this level," Uchihayo concluded, "don't hesitate to rely on these."

Fugaku nodded with approval. "That sounds ideal. I'm still unfamiliar with the full skillset of our younger brothers in the clan."

Uchihayo smiled faintly. He didn't say it aloud, but all these boys were loyal to the clan—deeply so. One of them, Mugen, even had a father aligned with the more radical elders. This arrangement wasn't just tactical—it was political. It would pull Fugaku into the clan's ideological current.

Fugaku and Uchiha Yang then began approaching their selected peers. Unsurprisingly, none declined—who would refuse to serve under the heir to the Uchiha leadership?

Meanwhile, Uchiha Nobunaga took the scroll from Yang and summoned the elder council. Four of the five elders were present, with the Second Elder away on a diplomatic mission in the Land of Fire.

Standing before them, Nobunaga declared, "Honored elders—our Uchiha clan has bled for Konoha since the First Shinobi World War. We gave everything—lives, loyalty, legacy. And in return? Slander. Marginalization. Fear."

"We were told we were dangerous. We tried harder. We integrated into the system. And still, we were pushed aside."

"Why?" Nobunaga's voice sharpened. "Because we are strong. Because our Sharingan bloodline terrifies them. Because they fear that if we open our eyes, we will see too much. Lead too well. Rise too fast."

"With the Senju clan faded, we became the strongest in the village. They will never let the power shift to us."

He raised the scroll. "This plan—crafted by Uchihayo and Uchiha Yang—is our answer. The 'Fertile Soil Plan.' It turns their own tactics against them, exposing their hypocrisy. We will not rise by rebellion—we will rise by revealing the truth."

The room erupted.

"Too much!" growled the Silver Wolf, Uchiha Gintaro, his arms tense. "They mock us again and again!"

"To think I spent my life trying to win their favor," muttered the Third Elder bitterly. "It was all for nothing—just a performance for their amusement."

"The boy, Yang," the First Elder interjected. "His plan—it's the light we need. Share it with us."

Nobunaga opened the scroll and read aloud.

"The Fertile Soil Plan…"

The council remained for hours. Lunch was brought in. They debated, argued, and revised. At last, they reached consensus.

And then, the follow-up proposal was unveiled:

"The Sunflower Plan—to ensure what we plant in fertile soil will bloom in time."
