Chapter 121 - Three Spiders, A Sincere Deal

Bai Zhi was just considering whether to investigate further,

when suddenly, it sensed uninvited guests approaching unannounced.

Since Spider Sense did not react, the newcomers probably bore no hostility, but Bai Zhi did not let its guard down because of that.

  Rustle, rustle...

The sound of grass blades being brushed aside came through.

Bai Zhi did not extend its 'Psychic Power' to probe—that would easily worsen the fatigue deep within its soul. It simply waited quietly for the visitors to show themselves.

The Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox nearby also turned around, facing the direction of the noise, a trace of cunning barely perceptible flickering through its eyes.

  "This is..."

When three eight-legged creatures appeared within its line of sight, Bai Zhi was dumbfounded...

The little snake was also visibly stunned for a moment: "Big Sister Bai Zhi, why do they look a bit like you?"

Bai Zhi's venomous fangs twitched slightly as it grumbled inwardly: Isn't that obvious? Because they're spiders!

The three suddenly appearing creatures were, unmistakably, three giant spiders!

The one in the middle was snow-white and hairless all over, like a body forged from ice crystal, with beautiful pink eyes.

The one on the left was orange-yellow all over, fluffy and hairy, reminding Bai Zhi of the "Orange Baboon Tarantula" exotic pet spider species.

The one on the right had blue-green legs and joints, its back and abdomen like resplendent gemstones, shimmering with multicolored light, glittering and sparkling.

It had to be said, all three giant spiders possessed considerable aesthetic appeal, but their body size was about two sizes smaller than Bai Zhi's.

In Bai Zhi's eyes, although they were 'Demi-Demonic Body' lifeforms, their Vitality had not yet broken a hundred, even inferior to the Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox, ranging between 80 and 95.

  Wait!

Bai Zhi seemed to notice something off. The three spiders were staring fixedly, single-mindedly, at itself...

It even sensed subtle pheromones wafting over from the three spiders, and the content contained within was...

  Delight!?

"..." Bai Zhi's mind went momentarily blank, at a loss.

Its spirit trembling, it released its psychic power, sweeping over the three spiders. Sure enough... all three were male!

These... these three spiders were actually courting it?

  "Meow, meow~"

The Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox cried out gleefully. Bai Zhi couldn't help feeling there was a hint of schadenfreude mixed into its cries.

"Big Sister Bai Zhi, what are they doing? Are they trying to eat us?" Bai Huahua asked curiously.

Not trying to eat us... they want to "eat" me...

Thankfully the silly little innocent hadn't awakened to such things yet, or the scene would only be more awkward.

While Bai Zhi was still in a daze, a handsome youth with a bound ponytail, dressed in neat close-fitting attire, darted out from behind the three spiders.

"So that's why you ran off so fast—turns out you came for a matchmaking session."

The youth wore an expression of sudden realization, his gaze sweeping back and forth between the three spiders and Bai Zhi, until it suddenly paused on the Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox. "Oh? Isn't this the Saintess's Nine-Tails?"

The Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox "meowed" once, which counted as a greeting.

This guy actually knows the stinky fox and Yang Shining... a thought flashed through Bai Zhi's mind.

  "Phew~"

At this moment, the youth focused his attention on Bai Zhi, letting out a frivolous whistle as he smiled:

"Rare to come across such a pretty and large female spider. Might I ask, Madam Spider, which of my young lads here catches your fancy?"

This guy has a discerning eye for spiders... was Bai Zhi's first reaction to the first half of the youth's words.

This guy's brain doesn't work so well... was what Bai Zhi felt after hearing the second half.

The youth kept talking nonstop: "Of course, if you like all of them, you can only pick at most two to, ahem, do that with..."

"After it's done, you can devour one, but you've got to leave some of the spider eggs that are born later for me. How about that? Pretty sincere offer, right?"

  "..."

  This offer...

  Was sincere my ass!

You want to take advantage of me and still want spider eggs?!

Bai Zhi's lungs were nearly bursting with rage.

In nature, female spiders can, under certain circumstances, eat the male spiders—this is common knowledge. Because the female cannot hunt during the reproductive period and needs sufficient nutrition to lay eggs, it will not refuse to consume the male spider.

Of course, many male spiders won't just sit and wait for death; they will prepare prey in advance and deliver it to the female's mouth, or quickly slip away after "finishing the deed."

But Bai Zhi hadn't expected that even in the transcendent world, this rule of husband-slaying still applied...

Additionally, Bai Zhi was not surprised that this youth could transmit his voice to it just as Yang Shining had when she first met it. The Jiuli Religion had cultivation methods for humans that helped them communicate with non-human creatures.

Bai Huahua, that unawakened fellow, asked curiously through voice transmission: "Big Sister Bai Zhi, is this human delivering ingredients to us?"

No, he's delivering you a brother-in-law... Bai Zhi grumbled inwardly.

"Scram!" Bai Zhi suppressed its fury and transmitted to the handsome youth.

"Hm? You spiders can talk, but your intelligence doesn't seem all that high."

The youth raised his eyebrows slightly. "I must remind you, Madam Spider—you should know that my three spiders are all top-quality breeding choices. Aren't you tempted at all?"

  Breeding...

  Tempted...

What do you take this seat for!?

As rage blazed within its heart, Bai Zhi was further stained with a touch of embarrassment. This person's vulgarity of speech far exceeded its imagination.

Bai Huahua, still oblivious, added fuel to the fire: "Big Sister Bai Zhi, this human seems to be looking down on you. By the way, what does 'breeding' mean?"

The Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox beside them was grinning so wide its mouth reached its ears.

Newly arrived here, can't just kill casually, especially not an arrogantly ordinary man, I'm not a demon lord... Bai Zhi silently recited a few lines to itself and ordered itself to calm down.

Suddenly, a cunning thought stirred. Bai Zhi said coldly: "Aren't you afraid I'll take your spiders and then break our agreement by secretly running off?"

The youth laughed brightly, placing his hands on his hips. "If after the great mating battle is complete, you still have the ability to slip away from under the nose of this dignified Saint Son, now that would be something else."

Saint Son? Bai Zhi extracted the key information.

Could this person be the Saint Son of Jiuli Religion? No wonder he's so arrogantly self-assured, having no idea of my strength and still daring to spout such nonsense here. But didn't Yang Shining say the Saint Son was out traveling?

So who exactly is this person... Bai Zhi carefully re-examined the other party's Vitality and found it was similar to Yang Shining's.

"Besides, since you're acquainted with Nine-Tails, even if you did run, I can still go to that girl Shining and demand an explanation." The youth added.

"What's your name?" Bai Zhi took the initiative to ask.

"Ye Chuyang. And how should I address Madam Spider?"

"Bai Zhi." Bai Zhi's tone remained calm as still water.

"Oh, so it's Madam Bai Zhi. A pleasure, a pleasure."

Ye Chuyang cupped his hands slightly, smiling as he said: "So, have you considered it?"

"I have." Bai Zhi's tone was unusually flat. "I'll take all three of your creatures!"

Hearing this, the Nine-Tailed Spirit Fox's grin froze directly on its face, its ice-crystal eyes widening enormously.

And Bai Huahua on the spider's back seemed to sense what might happen, not daring to make a sound, shrinking its body back.

"Tsk tsk tsk... who would've thought, your appetite is quite large."

Ye Chuyang clicked his tongue, wagging his index finger as he went on:

"But that won't do. I treat them all like precious sons—how could I hand them all over at once to be eaten by a tigress..."
