Wukong didn't understand why he was suddenly banished from the sect. He cherished the days of learning at Fangcun Mountain, where kind teachers taught him skills, where an interesting senior brother shared amusing stories, and where other brothers played with him.
He lingered outside the Daoist Temple for over half a month, still not permitted to re-enter. Wukong realized they truly meant to send him away, though he had regrets like not having a proper farewell with his senior brother.
Wukong waited another half month without a chance to see his senior brother. He knew his senior brother often secluded himself for cultivation for three to five years, or even decades, so he couldn't wait indefinitely.
Kneeling toward the direction of the temple, he kowtowed deeply, saying, "Master, I'm leaving. I will remember every word of your teachings in my heart!"
This importantly included the phrase 'if you cause trouble, don't reveal your master's name.'
