"Guru, I won't be staying here forever, so I will find a teacher to guide your father and help him become the king of this place," Kino said. He couldn't remain here long-term and, at most, could offer them some assistance.
"Teacher, can I meet him?" Guru asked.
"You can."
Kino raised his hand and summoned a portal.
A long-lost figure walked out from within it.
It was a tall man with deep, penetrating eyes. He wore a long black robe, and his steps were steady and powerful. Though the years had left their marks on his face, he still exuded an aura of authority and wisdom.
"Young Master..." Guru's eyes widened, curiously sizing up this unfamiliar figure.
"He is Ra's al Ghul. With over seven hundred years of experience, from today onward, he will be Black Adam's teacher."
Black Adam and Ra's al Ghul locked eyes. Their gazes met in mid-air, as if invisible sparks were flying between them.
Black Adam's eyes were filled with scrutiny and suspicion, while Ra's al Ghul's gaze was calm and unfathomably deep.
"Teacher."Black Adam gave a slight bow.
"Mm. Black Adam, I will teach you how to become a qualified leader."
Ra's al Ghul could sense the immense power in the man before him—someone far stronger than himself.
"Ra's al Ghul, from now on, you'll stay here. In addition to guiding Black Adam, you have another task—eliminate the members of the Court of Owls."
Kino then transmitted the relevant information directly into Ra's al Ghul's mind.
"Understood!"
"Guru, next, I'll be altering your memory and appearance. These will remain hidden until you obtain the power of Shazam. Go say goodbye to your parents."
Guru nodded and walked over to his parents.
Kino turned to glance at the dazed Diana lying on the ground—her mouth gagged by Harley.
"Diana, I'll let you go, but you must not tell anyone anything about what happened here, in any form. Deal?"
Diana nodded.
After giving a few final instructions, Kino prepared to leave.
First, he altered Guru's memory and appearance, then had Ra's al Ghul arrange for him to be placed in Philadelphia.
Then he took Diana and returned to Gotham.
Batcave.
Bruce looked silently at his three sons. A few words, and they were already manipulated like this?
Dick, Tim, and Jason stared curiously at the delicate little girl beside Bruce.
"Bruce, is this your daughter?" Dick asked.
"Hello, brothers. My name is Damian Wayne."Damian greeted them politely. Having read the comics, she was quite familiar with the three Robins.
Dick and the others responded warmly. They found themselves liking this sister they had just met.
"Yo, Bruce, you came back so soon."
Bruce turned and saw Kino, who was carrying Diana in his hand.
"After everything you stirred up, how could I not return?" Bruce replied.
Thankfully, he hadn't gone too far.
"Stirred up? I was seriously guarding Gotham for you—and I even brought back an old friend."
Kino casually tossed Diana onto the ground.
Boom!
Diana glared at him furiously.
"So, you're back now just to leave again?" Bruce asked, glancing at them but saying little else.
"Yeah, my side is going to war in just a few months. I could only spare time to come because it's Damian's birthday," Kino said.
"Go on, Damian," Bruce said, ruffling Damian's hair.
"Okay. Take care of yourself, Dad," Damian replied obediently before running toward Kino.
Kino and Damian vanished without a trace.
Bruce walked over to Diana and first removed the cloth from her mouth—only to find it was black lace.
"Ugh! That b*tch!" Diana cursed furiously.
"How did he catch you?"Bruce started untying her ropes.
"hdhgsja…" Diana said.
"What are you saying?" Bruce frowned.
Diana got up and tried again.
"rsggsgw…" she said, her face turning pale.
She grabbed a piece of paper to write—useless.Tried typing on a computer—useless.Tried using code—still useless.Even the Lasso of Truth—no use.
For a demon lord, even a verbal promise carries binding power.
Bruce watched Diana's repeated futile efforts and quickly understood the situation.
"You can't reveal anything about him in any form?"
Diana nodded helplessly.
Arkham Asylum.
Kino arrived and observed the chaotic scene around him.
Everyone was wearing a Deadpool mask.
"Deadpool, where are you? It's time to go."
Everyone turned to him.
This guy actually knows that lunatic?
"Boss, I'm here! Done so soon? I just finished organizing an outdoor activity with my new best friends."
Deadpool emerged from the crowd—wearing a full Batman suit.
"You can stay here if you want. No Vanessa. No pay. Oh, and I was going to hand out a bonus of 500,000 this time—but since you're not coming back, I guess I'll save that cash."
Kino turned to leave, but before he could take a single step, someone clung to his thigh.
"Boss, I really don't want to stay here. The food's bad, the beds are worse, and they bully me all the time! I really want to go home."
Deadpool sobbed pitifully, wiping away fake tears.
The people around him stared in disbelief—Who's being bullied here!?
"Get up. Go say your goodbyes," Kino said, shaking his head.
"My friends, it's been such a pleasure being with you all. But now I must bid farewell."
Deadpool looked around reluctantly.
This place was actually great—everyone was sweet, skilled, full of ideas. It really did feel like home.
But compared to the comfort of home… this place still fell short.
Everyone was stunned.
The lunatic was leaving?
We're free!
No one said a word, afraid he'd change his mind. All eyes turned hopefully to Kino—please take him away!
"This lunatic is the one you sent in to deal with me?" a voice said.
One of the Deadpools stepped forward, dried blood still on his clothes.
"Uh… who are you again?" Kino asked, confused.
The "Deadpool" removed his mask, revealing his signature green hair.
"Joker? No wonder you weren't laughing. Without your creepy laugh, I couldn't recognize you."
Kino looked at Joker's slumped expression and knew—Deadpool had done his job.
Joker's eyes burned with fury, but suddenly, he burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! If I'm right, you couldn't kill me—so you sent him. You wanted to destroy my mind without getting your hands dirty! Hahahaha!"
During this time, Joker had realized something—Deadpool had been especially targeting him.To the others, it had just been regular torment. But for him? It was personal.
Author's Note:
(Originally, I wanted to write more about the king of Kahndaq, what exactly Batman had done, why he felt okay leaving Gotham, how the world reacted, Flash's appearance, Suicide Squad and Justice Society showing up, how Guru obtained Shazam's power, how Kahndaq changed, and Gotham's situation after Batman's return.
There was so much to cover.
But in hindsight, the timeline would've stretched too long. If I kept going, the New York battle probably wouldn't happen until chapter 250. I'd feel like an idiot dragging it out like that. I don't want to write something rushed, but I also don't want to be accused of filler again—though I've already gotten used to being yelled at.
Honestly, I've noticed: in other novels, the New York battle appears by chapter 100-something. I guess balancing two worlds makes things harder. Ugh.
To be fair, I think this part came out kind of bad.
At the end of the day, my writing just isn't great. DC's lore is messy, and the origin stories for Shazam and Black Adam aren't even consistent. That's one thing Marvel does better.
Also, whenever something happens in DC, it's always Superman, Batman, or Flash coming to the rescue. Everyone else is just... kind of extra.
Marvel's different. Black Widow's sacrifice, Iron Man's sacrifice, Ant-Man's time travel… every character gets their moment. Especially the final battle with Doctor Strange's portals—that scene was epic.
Maybe that's why DC just can't compete with Marvel.
Just to be clear though, I do love DC. Otherwise, I wouldn't be writing this. It's not meant to be a challenge.)
