Chapter 240 - Chapter 239: Odin’s Battle

The light screen shifted once more.

Chaos Heat Vision!

From within the explosion, two thick red beams shot toward Odin. In the blink of an eye, they arrived right in front of him.

Odin reacted quickly, raising his hand to summon an energy shield to block the attack.

Boom!

The energy shield lasted less than a second before it shattered. Odin was just in time to neutralize the attack with his Eternal Spear.

"You can even wield the power of chaos now?" Odin was slightly surprised.

"Talk later. Let's fight first."

Kino emerged from the explosion without a single tear in his clothing. A golden magic circle appeared in his hand.

Vishanti's Divine Sword.

The next moment, a golden greatsword hundreds of meters long—Vishanti's Divine Sword—materialized slowly in the air.

Kino grasped the hilt with both hands and roared, bringing the massive sword down toward Odin with tremendous force.

"Take my Ultimate Rising Dragon Slash!"

This was the result of all his recent magical assignments—no longer simply copying existing spells, Kino had begun to innovate and create his own.

The Asgardians stood dumbfounded, watching their God-King get knocked away like a ball.

Odin stabilized himself midair, a bit shocked at how much the Demon King knew.

Golden lightning flickered in Odin's eyes.

Divine Thunder!

A massive thundercloud formed above them instantly. The cloud churned and surged like a beast ready to devour its prey.

Golden lightning bolts rained down like a torrential downpour. Wherever they landed, planets, asteroids—everything was obliterated, turning to dust in the vacuum of space.

Hoggoth's Armor!

Kino formed a seal with his fingers, and a golden magic circle enveloped him, solidifying into a semi-transparent golden armor.

As divine thunder struck the armor, it transformed into thousands of emerald-like butterflies, forming a majestic cloak behind him.

That was the true power of Hoggoth's Armor—nullifying all energy attacks.

Advantages: Complete 360-degree protection, continuous activation, and it looked incredibly cool!

Disadvantages: Enormous energy consumption. But as the Demon King with access to hell as an energy reserve? Barely a drop in the ocean.

Kino felt this was a bit of a coincidence. Just when he'd had some fresh insights into magic, he got a perfect "punching bag" to test it all out on.

— — —

Back on Earth, a watching sorcerer curved his lips into a subtle smile and murmured softly:

"This homework is a bit unqualified…"

There was a teasing tone in his voice, mixed with sincere expectations for Kino's growth.

Odin couldn't help but twitch at Kino's flashy defense method. This kind of extravagant technique… he'd never seen it used so wastefully before.

"Demon King, if you wish to claim the throne of a god, then you must defeat me. Only then will you be worthy to rule Asgard."

"…Wait, what? When did I ever…"

Kino was completely confused. Why was Odin making this sound like an epic duel for the crown? What was going on?

To prevent Kino from suspecting anything, Odin's body began to expand, becoming as massive as a small star.

His body blocked out vast swathes of the starry sky, making entire constellations seem tiny by comparison.

"Impressive," Kino's eyes sparkled. That move looked pretty damn cool.

Odin's Eternal Spear, now swirling with golden energy, plunged toward Kino—who looked like an ant in size by comparison.

Mirror Fold.

Kino extended one hand forward.

Space itself twisted bizarrely, like a wrinkled piece of paper. Odin's spear tip was swallowed by the folded space.

Simultaneously, identical spearheads appeared to Odin's left, right, front, and back—four in total—striking his body at lightning speed.

In an instant, they pierced through Odin, and blood bloomed in the cosmos like a grotesquely beautiful flower.

"No! The All-Father!"

"Father!"

Thor's eyes widened in disbelief, red-rimmed with anguish. Blue lightning raged around him like a furious dragon, threatening to explode at any moment.

Smack!

Hela punched Thor square on the head.

"Quiet down. Odin isn't that easy to kill."

Thor was momentarily dazed by the hit, but Hela's words calmed him for now.

— — —

Odin's corpse began to dissolve into golden particles of energy.

Kino frowned. Although this death resembled how Odin died in the movies, it felt too easy.

Super Vision!

He scanned the surroundings—and spotted a nearly invisible humanoid figure creeping closer.

If it hadn't been for the dust around the figure being displaced, he wouldn't have noticed it at all.

Once Odin realized he had been discovered, he revealed his form.

"How did you spot me?"

"Your death was too fake."

Kino kept scanning with his super vision and only relaxed after seeing Odin's internal organs still functioning.

"I haven't used this trick in ages… my acting's a bit rusty," Odin's voice suddenly came from behind Kino.

At the same time, a hand gently pressed against Kino's back.

Hoggoth's Armor flickered and vanished instantly.

Kino turned around in shock. This second Odin—under his super vision—showed no difference from the real one. Not in energy patterns, not in organs, not even in his expression.

— — —

"Loki's illusion magic? Father can do that too?" Thor asked, stunned.

"You idiot. In war, survival matters more than how many people you kill. Poison, faking death, stealth, underhanded tricks—whatever works. That's what Odin taught you!"

Hela scolded Thor mercilessly. She even questioned whether he was Odin's real son. How could he be so stubborn?

"He did teach me… but defeating the enemy head-on is the true honor of a warrior! I, Thor Odins—"

Before he could finish, Hela shoved his face into the ground.

She was speechless. Ever since Odin sealed her, all he managed to raise was a muscle-brained fool.

Kino realized he had been careless.

His magical energy was now sealed, and he couldn't undo it anytime soon.

He had truly underestimated Odin.

"You've lost, Demon King. Come with me, marry Hela, and become Asgard's son-in-law."

Despite his words, Odin's eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

After all, he had to rely on dirty tricks to win.

Still, Asgard had gained a powerful royal consort.

— — —

The people of Asgard looked at each other in confusion.

"Son-in-law? But we only have two princes. No princess…"

"Could it be Prince Loki? He's great at illusions…"

"That makes sense. Loki loves magic and reading… not very manly."

"So Loki's the princess?"

Frigga twitched at these absurd conversations, her expression frozen in disbelief.

— — —

Elsewhere, Hela slammed her fist into the ground.

"Ahh! What did I do this time?!"

Thor clutched his head in pain.

"I just don't like your face!" Hela growled.

She had been looking for a way to vent her frustration toward Odin, and Thor had become the perfect punching bag.

But one punch wasn't enough—she followed up with several more.

Thor could only suffer in silence, cursing inwardly.

How could someone this violent ever get married? She's worse than me!

— — —

On Earth.

Everyone was completely dumbfounded.

"Our boss… is gonna be forced into marriage with Hela?"

The members of the Demon Corporation were shaken.

"Hahahaha! Pepper, contact every newspaper—we need the entire world to wake up tomorrow with a headline: The Demon King Marries Into Asgard!"

Tony clutched his stomach laughing. "I can't believe it. He's finally getting what he deserves."

"Not happening, Tony. He owns the entire country now. No newspaper would dare publish that," Pepper said with a smile.

"Damn capitalist…" Tony muttered.

Completely forgetting that he was one, too.

Author's Note:

(If the Thanos arc flowed like a breeze, then this Asgard arc feels like constipation. I almost want to delete the earlier parts. But I've already written so much, I can't bear to cut it, so I'll just push through.

As for why Odin isn't multiversal-level: He didn't defeat the Old Gods lurking in the shadows. Rune King Thor did that)

Quote of the Chapter:

"Power means nothing if you don't know when to lie, hide, and survive."
